I love the location as well- right near the park and pier if you wanted to just hang out there while you wait. Reviewing daycare, training, and grooming. That said, all 5 stars! My dog LOVES Wag Club and anything related to it. It's hard to take him for walks in the direction of Wag Club because he would stop at a corner 3 blocks away and not budge. Though this review is less about the dog and more about how Wag Club is doubly great for the humans behind the dog. Grooming::: Marta is wonderful. She's always attentive in grooming Zorba. She sometimes even does some last minute adjustments as I'm picking him up. Great attention to detail. There was some miscommunication regarding payment a while ago- John and the team provided clear communication and we were able to come to a resolution. Customer service was excellent. (Side note: They're quick with emails too.) Training::: Zorba did an agility training class with Rob (Dogboy) who is amazing. He's passionate about dogs, is a strong enforcer of positive reinforcement training, and is helpful around other behavior issues that your dog may be having. Daycare::: Everyone is so friendly and personable. Molly, James, Stephanie, Laura, etc. It feels like a community/family, which is nice to experience when I'm dropping off a beloved family member. Zorba has been going there for 7 or 8 months now, and I was surprised at how quickly they became familiar with him - even to recognizing him in the street. Zorba had an injury at one point (not from WC) and they were understanding and flexible with our daycare schedule. The facility is spacious by NYC standards and the space is always clean. They're responsible, reliable, fun, and I know I can always trust them to take care of my dog to the best of their ability. I once got out of a cab with Zorba and lost my grip on the leash. I panicked for a moment but then he ran right towards Wag Club and sat in front of the door. Doh. Stephanie took great care of him while I went back to the cab to get my things. Look how happy Zorba is to receive a treat! Of course, they always have him sit before he receives anything. read more

This place is terrific - highly recommend! Our shy puppy did puppy social here with Robert and Jacklyn and gained a ton of confidence learning to play with other dogs. The front desk staff is top notch, especially Molly. She really went out of her way to ensure that our puppy was comfortable and felt safe when she came for her daycare and boarding test. We had tried another place for daycare that was a bit closer to our home for a daycare test and our puppy left shaking and scared after 10 minutes! But at Wag Club, she had a great time and did very well. The staff clearly knows dog behavior and how to work with many different dog personalities. Bonus - it is super clean and does not smell like every dog in the universe has peed on the floor like some of the spots I toured. Wag Club's staff is really amazing. The staff genuinely loves dogs, and my dog Watson always comes home tired out. They are so flexible in terms of scheduling, even when we have last minute cancellations, and they are so responsive over email - it really really makes a difference when you're in a pinch. I first brought my dog to Wag for their incredibly popular "Wine and Puppies" puppy socialization evenings, similar to a pre-K for dogs, where they can learn to socialize with other dogs under the watchful eye of professional dog trainers who are also a font of useful information for the nervous and sometimes frustrated new dog owners. Those sessions did wonders not just for my dog but for me. Since then, Wag has, as another customer recently posted in Instagram, become part of our family. My dog goes to daycare there, I have boarded him there overnight and used their in-home boarding option on multiple occasions, and also use their excellent associated groomer. I can't praise each and every aspect of Wag highly enough. They are professional and overwhelmingly kind. They shower the dogs in their care with love and embrace their various personalities. They have helped us through numerous doggie-related emergencies, not to mention a few family emergencies. My dog wakes up every morning excited to go to Wag (seriously--it's a bit embarrassing), and comes home at the end of the day having been cared for as carefully or more as I could have done myself. Daycare, grooming, and classes are all fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff. I love the team at Wag Club. Finding people who take care of your dog when you are not around is not an easy feat and even less so if you don't trust them. From the moment we dropped Louie off for his temperament test, we knew we would trust every single person here. The staff is attentive, responsive, caring, and you can feel that they love each dog that is in their care. I have never once felt uneasy about leaving Louie with them and will continue to give rave reviews to anyone who asks about daycare in the Brooklyn Heights area! A special shout out to Molly for always giving us updates without asking and for being a friendly face whenever we see her. Every time we walk Louie toward Wag Club, he starts sprinting toward the door. He always comes home happy and tired from a full day of play! Marta and the grooming team are beyond excellent. They always do exactly what we ask, keeping Louie looking sharp and feeling clean! We trust their expertise in how best to keep Louie groomed and will continue to take Louie to Wag Club grooming on a regular basis. DogBoyNYC + Wag Club puppy play and obedience classes are so wonderful. We had Jacklyn day train Louie when he was a small puppy and it was really wonderful to see him learn so many things so quickly. Day training was a really good solution to Louie's growing energy since we started training him when he was not old enough or vaccinated enough for daycare. Keeping his mind sharp was a key factor in his independence and I thank Jackie and Rob at DogBoyNYC in helping Louie becoming a confident and happy dog! We are taking him to obedience classes with Rob now and his knowledge on how best to train your dog in a positive environment has reinforced all the learning Louie did with Jackie back when he was a small puppy. So Marta could arguably be the best groomer we ever found for our miniature schnauzer. I don't know what I'd do without her. She is so good that she's no longer available over the weekend because she's doing grooming for competitions. I meannn that means your dog is getting a show dog quality haircut when you come to Marta. This makes scheduling a little difficult but she's very accommodating for us during the week. I am hoping she will stay with Wag Club forever so Caesar will look perfect every time after haircut. read more

This is a tough one to write...as I have had an amazing experience with Wag Club until these past couple of months. To be fair, we trained our dog at the Obedience Classes here and they were fantastic. The instructors are energetic and caring, the class fun and engaging. The groomer, Marta, is also incredible -- a true magician! The issues started when Marta was out of town, and we got charged an exorbitant fee for my dog's grooming that was never flagged to us when we were dropping off our pup. After a lot of back and forth, and some unkind vibes from one of the groomers, Wag Club remedied the situation and gave us a percentage off that grooming. Perfect. As the new year started, we reached out again to book another grooming. The e-mails back were short, and in a nutshell said "we're too booked up, we can recommend another spot." This was not a very helpful response, we have only ever been to Wag Club and they could at least recommend another date to us. After lots of back and forth on e-mail here, I finally asked Wag Club to give me a call. I was expressing my frustration with the lack of clarity in finding a date for us -- and the fact that they don't have a grooming schedule readily available to share -- when the attitude returned. This time, from John -- the owner. I let him know I did not appreciate his attitude when he literally retorted: "Excuse me, do you hear your attitude?" and scoffed when I said I wouldn't be recommending him to fellow friends in Brooklyn ("We don't have issues getting customers!"). The call ended abruptly and he called back to apologize for his behavior. I felt the need to leave this anecdote here to advise fellow doggie owners that this happened. It feels that when things at Wag Club are great, they're awesome but when things don't go your way -- and you let the staff know -- they aren't having any of it. read more

I recently attended the Wine N' Puppies group class with my 10w old puppy Lola, and I could not be more impressed with Wag Club. Lola and I attended another puppy socialization class (to remain nameless), which was in a disappointing dirty facility. Moreover, the other class did not require any proof of age-appropriate vaccinations. John, the owner of Wag Club, is incredibly diligent about making sure that any dog to come through the door is healthy and has the appropriate shots, something that is extra important when bringing young puppies to socialize. The Wag Club facility is very clean without smelling like they just nuked the place with bleach. Moreover, Wag Club works closing with Robert from DogboyNYC, a fantastic trainer, who leads the puppy group (as well as other classes). My only regret is that I live a little too far from Wag Club for it to be a feasible doggy daycare option. Lola and I will definitely be back for training and grooming, though. read more

Our 4 month old puppy absolutely loves being at Wag Club with its clean, paw-friendly floors and its wonderful staff. The facilities and shop are well considered. The open space lets dog owners see what's going on inside without disturbing the dog play. The fact that its daycare is for dogs under 35 lbs means I don't have to worry about my little pup getting caught between larger, over-enthusiastic dogs. We also tried out Wag Club's grooming service. The groomer did a great job with our puppy, she was both gentle and understanding. Overall, a great addition to the neighbourhood! read more

They are the best, best, best! My 60ish lb mutt is a total Mama's boy and I was nervous about kenneling him for a couple days over Thanksgiving. John, the owner and the people who work there are sweet, responsible and huge dog lovers. They even texted me a cute photo of my dog while he was there. He had a ball (ha just realized I made a pun. How dorky). I know he loved it because every time we walk by Wag Club he drags me inside to say hello to all his new human and canine buddies. And he gets so excited when he sees John it's as if he's known him since he was a pup. Go to their facebook page and you'll see how much they love dogs and vice versa. They even have the cutest little "report cards" written up when you pick up your pooch! I have never written a yelp review but I figure this may go further than word of mouth at the dog park. :) I think they're fairly new and I hope is they keep expanding. The Wag Club facility is fantastic -- very clean, lots of space, natural light, and playground-like structures for the dogs to enjoy. But when it comes to the staff, I have to say Proceed With Caution. The Wag Club requires new customers to bring their dogs in for a temperament test, which is of course an excellent idea. Given my experience at the Wag Club, however, I would suggest you bring your dog in for a "test" at least twice, maybe even 3 times in order for the entire staff to be exposed to him/her. Based on these my observations, I can only infer that the Wag Club has a preferred "type". If you fit that type, good for you. My puppy and I apparently did not. My puppy spent about 2 weeks total at the Wag Club, when I was starting a new job. At first we were greeted very warmly but I noticed as time went on and the staff changed from day-to-day, the reception changed. I encountered a very nice gentleman who appeared to be the owner/manager and 4 different staffers, who worked in pairs. Two of them -- a woman and a man -- greeted my puppy warmly each day, happily gave me reports on how he got along with others and generally seemed to enjoy his puppy energy. The other two were a completely different story: one woman was so sullen she was barely capable of speech, nevermind welcome us with a smile, and the other, when I asked how my puppy's day had gone, had a new complaint each time. A puppy who's very energetic! Oh the horror! One day I arrived to see my puppy in timeout, behind a gate but able to see the others play. When I questioned this, the woman again complained about his energy level and suggested I consider another facility, one more suitable for "larger dogs" because the Wag Club is really more for smaller dogs. As I looked over her shoulder at the giant poodle , yellow retriever and pitbull romping in the playroom, I decided I would never return. It breaks my heart when I wonder how much time my puppy spent isolated because this woman couldn't handle his... puppyness. As for his size, he weighs 20 pounds and looked to be in the middle of the range of dogs I saw there. My puppy now attends a different day care and though it is not as beautiful a facility as the Wag Club, the staff treat him like one of the family. read more

My Bedlington Terrier, Lewis, got the best grooming job ever! Marta the groomer is a magician. Most groomers have no clue as to how to cut a Bedlington. Marta was so excited to groom him and knew exactly how to do it! I will never go anywhere else. While I was in the store all the dogs in daycare were having a blast. The staff here is so much a cut above other places. Large dog to human ratio. I can't wait to try the daycare. read more

Dog sat for a friend in Brooklyn. As instructed (oh and those dog owners can leave such detailed instructions lol), dropped off the lil pooch at Wag Club for some grooming and social time. Staff looked genuinely friendly and like what they do. The owner, John, was there and described the bathing/grooming process. He even described this blueberry facial that sounded decadent. Started thinking he was trying to sell me into something extra...boy, was I wrong! it was all part of the bath/groom already. Front store looked like a high end doggy "Whole Foods". The play area is huge (2-3x the size of my apartment) with rubber floors. And by the time I picked up the lil pooch, he looked and smelled great with a hint of that blueberry facial lingering. read more

Wag Club is the best! And they don't call it Wag for nothing: it's a pretty good indication of quality when your dog's tail starts wagging frenetically the moment the building comes into view. That whole-body-wiggling type of a wag. We've taken him to other daycares, and nothing even begins to compare. Everytime i pass by my pups stop at the door of Wag Club and insist on going inside. It's like their 'candy store'. Wag Club walks my dogs daily. I love the staff here - Molly, LaLa, James, Jen, John and more (sorry i cant recall everyones names). They are all kind, patient and genuinely love animals. They are also very accommodating when i get stuck working late and need a walk/feed. I enjoying reading the notes left each day on how my pups did on their lunchtime walk. Trust me, not all places are like this. Wag Club is the exception for sure. Knowing my pups are in their care gives me peace if mind. I could not exist in the City without Wag Club. read more

My guy is 9 months old, very submissive and shy. Each and everytime I leave him at Wag they take extra care to keep an eye on him.. Opal is amazing and always provides really really detailed updates... In fact, I get an update from whoever is on shift! Our little Buddha has been going to Wag Club for about a year. We moved to NYC from LA, and Buddha had a hard time adjusting to the city life. Wag Club became his sanctuary. He loves going and we see the excitement everyday. John and team are amazing. Over the year, I have emailed and called to check in, everyone is always so nice and responsive. They all know Buddha, who he plays with, who he doesn't play with (doggie daycare soap opera), and when he is being grumpy. The team really loves Buddha, and Buddha loves everyone there. Wag Club has been our number one resource for our Mini Golden Doodle. The basic puppy obedience class has helped us so much as new dog guardians, and we just had him groomed there for the first today. Marta was amazing. We really wanted our pup to maintain his fluff, and Marta absolutely nailed his first puppy cut. He came home smelling good, looking good, and most importantly, happy! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before because they are the best around. John, the owner, is extremely friendly and knowledgable. Their prices are fantastic, especially for a boutique. The place is very warm and inviting and they constantly update their Facebook so mom and dad know what their baby is up to. They also partner with Dog Boy for training. I brought my little chihuahua mix here for his first grooming experience ever. I was a little nervous as he's quite skittish, but It couldn't of been a more painless and pleasant experience. He seemed totally relaxed when I came to pick him up (and smelled really good too!) . I appreciate that they listened to my concerns and the groomer did exactly what we had discussed. I cannot say enough good things about Wag Club. Our beagle, Ellie, went to daycare at Wag for over 2 years before we sadly moved out of the neighborhood. Ellie absolutely loved going to Wag. When we passed by the door on walks she would paw to go inside, and she was thrilled every day when she arrived for daycare. The staff at Wag is the BEST. They absolutely love the dogs and treat every dog like he/she is one of their own. They are also extremely responsive and worked with us to find a schedule that fit our needs. Ellie can be hesitant with strangers, but she instantly warmed up to the Wag Club staff. We are so sad to no longer be able to send Ellie to the best daycare in NYC. Griff attends wag club 4 mornings a week and it breaks up his day so he is only home alone for a few hours a day.
