We live crazy close to harmony so this was a pretty nice spot to get Mongolian beef! The flavor was great (I opted for extra spicy) and the meat was tender and fell apart in a great way. On that same dish.... Why was there an entire green pepper added? I couldn't tell you. One chunk of it was a half of the pepper sliced but not all the way through so you could really tell it was a whole ass pepper. I personally have never had a Mongolian beef with green peppers?... next time I'll ask for it without them. Haha! Still! Great dish. My partner got Hunan shrimp. Literally had 6 shrimp. It was a "small" order, but apparently the difference between $2 more for a large was a BIG difference. Probably wouldn't get that again. It also had a huge amount of green peppers, but also green beans, carrots, onions. The veggie variety was tasty. The hot and sour soup was fair. They left weird "crispy" bits assuming for the soup, but they were soggy and flavorless so we tossed those. The most hilarious part of the order was my "side order" of war noodles that was literally only noodles and nothing else. No sauce, no flavor. Literally $5 for plain noodles. But! Perhaps a rookie mistake? I was glad we got it to go so I could add my own flavor. We got a spicy tuna roll as well. Incredibly simple, my partner did not care for it at all. I go here often! The food is always excellent and generous! I see a lot of people rightfully rate this restaurant highly and it is all true! As for the restroom comment - in one review there is always one or the other (from my experience) bar soap or pump soap available. I understand most people do not want to use bar soap that other people use. Illinois and Chicago rules require that handwashing sinks have soap, but they do not generally mandate wall‑mounted liquid/foam dispensers instead of bar soap for all public bathrooms. What Illinois regulations say * The Illinois Field (Kitchen / Food preparation) Sanitation Code explicitly states: "The soap shall be either liquid or powder" for regulated field handwashing facilities, which in that context excludes bar soap. However general (Public) the Illinois Department of Human Services state that bar "or" liquid soap are both acceptable, as long as they are clean. In Chicago food establishments, local rules emphasize that handwashing sinks must be supplied with soap and sanitary hand‑drying devices, and inspections refer to "soap dispensers," but they do not flatly outlaw bar soap in public restrooms. So if you have never been to China where most restrooms contain no soap at all and you are expected to carry your own soap. These conditions may be austere even unsanitary to your standards but it is not unsanitary to Legal Chicago's or Illinois's standards! read more

Wow. So I have driven past this establishment for years. When I say years, I mean since the early 2000s or before. Anyway, I finally decided I would go in. I couldn't get anyone to go with me on a whim so I decided to go it alone. The outside ad we all know is a bit run down. However, being this place has been in business for years I figured, what could go wrong ? Walking in, the bar area seemed ok. The dining room was nothing like I expected. The waitress/ hostess gave me a strange look. No hello or anything. Then, she holds up one finger. I say "yes just me" no hello no smile nothing. She moves in front of me, and drops a menu on a table. I tell her I would like to wash my hands quickly before I order. Going into the bathroom was all I needed to know. I go in. Very small cramped and there's a chef in the stall. So I turn the water on and try to use the soap dispenser. Try to press on it... nope. Not a manual. So I go ahead and see if it's an auto. Nope. Idk. It was kinda coming off the wall too. Sooooo I decided enough is enough. The bad attitude alone should be enough but these people don't even believe in putting a WORKING soap dispenser in their restroom ?? What the hell was that chef going to use to wash his hands??? Btw people it was like 2pm in the afternoon :and no one but two people were in the restaurant. I just walked out telling the rude waitress it's disgusting they don't have soap in the bathroom. Their Chinese food is pretty darn good, one of my favorites actually. What turned me off of this place and what gives it a "3" is that it turned me off of sushi for the longest time. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Husband called to place the order for delivery. He requested the pad Thai with tofu cubes. We received the pad Thai with the tofu (?) stringy globs mixed in with the noodles. I picked out the stringy globs and ate some of the noodles. Hubby called and was told that the cook probably did not see the request. I am not sure if the cubes were fried and lose their texture, or if there is another explanation for what I received. I believe the phone lady is confused about the difference between tofu cubes and fried tofu, as she entered fried tofu on the order. She says that tofu cubes are only available as Hong Sue tofu (not the same as pad Thai). Not satisfactory at all. read more

I wanted to like this. I purchased take out. The portions were generous and the chicken was plentiful, it was just "woody" in texture. The pineapple was lacking in the pineapple fried rice. The wonton soup was generous in pork meat, but was unfortunately flavorless. I spent 40 dollars for two entrees and a soup. I don't believe that the quality or flavors would have been better in person. I didn't feel comfortable eating this food, I felt that most of the chicken needed to be inspected because of the rough texture of the meat. read more

I have to admit, I do like to come back to spots at least twice, but since the last review, I've returned three times since. I must say I am happy I did. The food this time around was excellent and the Pho, oh wow! I didn't know Pho was even an option until I looked in the back of the menu and WOW! It was excellent, well as far as seafood Pho is concerned, China Town had now lost a customer since this is not far from my home and the Pho is beyond authentic. I am really happy I decided to try it because its hard to find a good Pho anywhere in Chicago. So of course my stars now have changed. I think of course I will be returning as the Pho brings me back. They have various pho's to contend with every palate, but my personal favorite has to be the seafood pho, and for less than $8? You seriously can not go wrong, it is now a staple for me whenever I do stop by, which is quite a lot. I still love the plum wine because it goes with everything I order, and I like the taste of it. For some reason, their wine is a little sweeter than others I have tasted. And that's okay for me, I absolutely love the pairing with the foods I eat here. But of course if you don't like the plum wine, (but who wouldn't)? They also have a plethora of other spirits and wines if plum is not to your liking so hang in there, as the bar is open for you. read more

This is just good tasting what you've learned to love Chinese food. My kids and I enjoy eating supper here from time to time. We mainly come because they have sushi as well as Chinese food. My daughter absolutely loves the sushi and normally gets the miso soup and California roll. My son is a fan of the pork fried rice and I usually stick with the Hunan Beef or Chicken. Harmony HAS ROACHES!.... I literally just walked out of Harmony Restaurant disgusted right now. A friend and I decided to go to Harmony since it's one of our favorite place in the neighborhood. After finishing our dinner and getting the check, I noticed something crawling along the wall of our booth. Keep in mind we were sitting in the booth closest to the kitchen... I thought it was a centipede at first and then realized it was a full size roach. I brought it up to our server's attention and she didn't really seemed surprised. She just apologized and killed it with the napkin Needless to say, I am extremely disgusted and will never go back. P.S. California Roll looked great - however rice had a powdery aftertaste (baking soda?), wasabi had no taste, came with 2 packets of sauce instead of little cup with sauce for dipping. BBQ ribs were VERY dry, VERY tough, no flavor except small amount of decent BBQ sauce but did not help taste. Spring rolls were just ok, again just couple of PACKETS of sauce. (My fault here, wanted fresh spring rolls, NOT fried) Panang Curry was biggest disappointment-and biggest price. I needed it for the leftover food I got from your restaurant a few days ago. Walked in and some of the workers were sitting around a table a employee asked what I need told her and she stated it's not ready. Really? I think I'm going to be sick... if you are going to pretend to serve sushi then let it be fresh at least. I ordered a few pieces of sushi and the " fresh " salmon didn't look right, didn't smell right and when I attempted to eat it I immediately spit it into my napkin. The servers at the bar pretended not to watch in horror as I consumed something that was clearly past it's due date. The large egg foo young literally lasted my family a few days Also the menu has loads and loads of options so there's something for everyone. Great food. Love it and the service while awesome only had one hiccup or problem. The waitress hardly understood English. When I asked for the dish to be made spicier or hot, she said yes yes yes. This place is ok for Chinese food. During my visit, I had asked if I could taste their plum wine, because I had never had it and wanted to make sure that I liked it before ordering a glass. The waitress was very upset that I even asked. Most places if you order a glass of wine and you don't like it, you're stuck with it so I wanted to taste it... (Worst part about moving back south) Thank You for having a sign on the marquee that says SUSHI! This place is a mix of Asian. Not Sushi specific but Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and cocktails. So you can get Pho, Sushi, Maki, Udon, etc. the sushi was very good. I had spicy tuna (spicy!), Boston, Philadelphia, and I forgot the others. We chowed down. Hot tea, a beer, and it was nice. Wish more Asian would open up around the south side. This place really isn't bad at all. In fact, for what it is, it's extremely good. I've eaten in-house here once, and it was really good. I've been getting delivery from here for awhile now, and I have to say- the delivery is top-notch. Their delivered sushi is excellent- if you're down for such a thing. I've been getting food delivered here for a few weeks now, basically because I've just been too lazy to drive to Jewell Osco and buy something to fix for dinner. I've tried a WIDE variety of their dishes, and everything has been really good. One note, however- if you're planning to get some temaki-zushi, you'd best to specify that you want the hand-rolls, else you'll probably just end up with six pieces of regular makki-zushi. Their delivery is always speedy, the food is always tasty, and I'm always very satisfied with their service. Also, just a note to the people who claim that the service is 'rude'... they're not being rude, they're just Asian. Especially in restaurants, Asians aren't as "touchy-feely" as we're used to here in America at TGI Fridays and whatnot. get your culture on, cuz. Male Driver asks for tips in a demanding way. I could sit here and make a controversial review but that isn't necessary. Don't demand tips. As my partner simply stepped in to put the food inside, the driver asked for a tip without simply being patient. Before this all happened, we were about to step outside to do something, so we actually got caught by surprise when the driver was outside about to deliver the food. Pros: Good prices. Cons: They have the worst Ginger Salad I have ever tried, too much olive oil and not enough ginger dressing. Seeweed salad was good though, and I had cucumber avocado sushi which was ok. Ate here earlier this month forgot to review. I was disappointed to find myself chewing on what I thought was plastic in my chicken fried rice. After reporting it the waitress pointed out it was a shrimp shell. Either way it should not have been in that dish. Their food is good but I refuse to pay for something where just anything gets thrown into my food. Where is the quality control? The color was completely different should have been a clear catch.
