First time coming here. I'm glad there's actually something open in downtown Joliet. Harold's Chicken is one of the best brand name chicken and fish places in all of Chicagoland. I ordered a small gizzard meal with a drink and paid just shy of $10. The good was great for its price. Great sized portion of food! I was completely full and satisfied. There's no drive thru so you have to walk in to order. Wait time for me was about 15 minutes. This place gets great traffic too I might add. Clean, modern and beautiful place too. Definitely reccomend read more

I ordered 3 meals 2 fish and 1 chicken, the chicken was fresh, and the fries were hot with sauce as I asked, the fish was less than anticipated. The fish filets were cut in 1/2 so they could call one fillet two fillets; very disappointed because I specifically asked about the size of the filet and was told they're 3/5 which means 3-5 fillets per pound which are nice size fillets but that wasn't the case; however as for taste, and freshness they were on point. I was told 15 minutes for the wait, and it was more like half hour, but that wasn't terribly bad. The restaurant wasn't filthy, but it wasn't immaculate either. Floor was a little sticky in spots, and tables could've been a little more orderly, but it wasn't a bad atmosphere. Overall I'd say this experience was a little short of OK, not great, but not horrible. read more

First time stopping in and the restaurant was modern and clean. The lady at the counter was friendly and so patient - I took a long time picking what I wanted! There's a large menu to select from as a walk-in and keep in mind they cook your order fresh, so it will take 15 minutes. It's worth the wait! I noticed a lot of people were coming in to pick it up so calling ahead is a nice option. I ordered the 2 breast dinner it was under $10. I think that was a steal of a deal! It comes with a pile of fries and a cup of coleslaw or potato salad. But the star of course is the crispy breaded, juicy, flavorful chicken! It was DELICIOUS. I took it back to my office and everyone came to see what the amazing smell was. I couldn't eat more than one piece and had dinner too. It heated up nice in the air fryer and was still just as juicy. Careful paying with a card. They were out of the chicken tenders I ordered online for my son. Claimed to send me an email about a refund that I never received. Which why didn't they call but whatever. After checking my bank statement I didn't notice a refund or new charge so I asked how i would know it was actually refunded. They gave me a FAKE number to online customer service. Chicken, catfish and tilapia have been delicious however I had to double check the perch to see if was really fish or all breading. Disappointed and it's right next to my Grandma's senior living complex so was hoping it would be a nice family treat when we visited her. read more

The location is accessible with plenty of parking the food is very good and more than I expected however the ambiance of the place needs work the employees are not welcoming and somewhat rude by that I mean they are very nonchalant I waited more than 45 minutes for a wing & fish combination no one asked for my patience nor did anyone thank me for being patient however the cook did take the the time to tell me I couldn't lean on the counter & there was a sign saying so all while not mentioning how much he appreciated my patience for waiting close to an hour for my order!!!! read more

When this location opened I was ecstatic. For the last 2 years I was a regular patron as this was one of my to go places during the COVID-19 lockdown. The food was always fresh and never had any issues. Lately, I noticed a change in the appearance and presentation of the food when I open my bag. Yesterday, I ordered and when I got home to eat it. The breading and appearance looked a little different again and the fries were old and you could tell they were fried twice. Just full of grease!!! No coleslaw no hot and mild sauce. Food just threw in the bag. Well late last night I woke up nauseous and then vomited all that chicken up. My husband ate his this morning and when I brought it up to him, he said it gave him diarrhea. I'm sorry I am done!!! I immediately thought about how shiftless the guy cooking the food appeared in the back and the older lady rolling her eyes at everything. After many attempts, Harolds just can't get it right. We order through Grubhub, and at first, they were great. As time went on, every order was missing something, half the food on one order. We kept trying because the food tastes good, but can no longer order from them again. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant, and it is not because they made a mistake it is because they didn't care about me as a customer enough to even apologize for the mistake. I ordered my food today online at 4:39 PM. I arrived at the restaurant at 5 went to the cashier and advised that I had an online order. The cashier confirmed my request and stated that my order was their but was not ready yet. The owner was standing right at the register and confirmed when I ordered. 30 more minutes go by and I ask the owner for the status of my online order at which point she states that she doesn't see one. They begin to badger me about what time I ordered because they state they didn't receive it. These are the same 2 people who 30 minutes ago advised me that my order was placed and was coming up!!! I show my online order with prepayment proof to the ladies and the cashier states it doesn't matter I have to pay again,,, so then I ask how do I get my money back the owner comes around the corner with some dirty old book with a number taped to the back and advises me that I have to call to get a refund. SO, I oblige and the only reason I am still here now is because it is my wife's birthday weekend and she wanted this for dinner,,, otherwise I would have left. The cashier processes my order and then they tell me I have to wait 15 more minutes for them to prepare my food all the while service 5 more people who came in the restaurant after me. After all that the owner finally gives me my chicken and doesn't apologize like nothing even happened. I called the number still don't have the refund I am owed and on top of that they didn't even care enough about a paying customer to just say I apologize!!!! I will never go here again unless something is done to at least acknowledge that Harold's Chicken Joliet made a mistake and they care about their customers!!!!
