So don't judge this place by the low ratings from when it was closed, those were just people upset they couldn't eat here. I can honestly give this place a 4.5 on taste alone. The crust was well seasoned but is a low herbed blend. It has a medium thickness and passes the test when you grab the fried skin off the thigh, you can taste that natural fried chicken flavor that always slaps you on the a$$ to let you know it's good. The leg, thigh, and wing were kinda small but it was paired with a giant boneless breast. It's always cooked fresh so if you dine in bring a hot chick to look at or have something to read cause you gonna wait 20 minutes (I'm okay with that). Two years back visited Harolds Shrimp & Chicken in South Beach. More of a quick visit, ran in ordered the lemon pepper wings & fries to go as we were on our way down to Homestead, FL. Yes FEASTING on the wings on the drive down, rich flavor, good to bite on and a word was not said as my thoughts could not keep up with the flavor and texture I was experiencing. While waiting on the order, had a meaningful but brief conversation with Rocco and Ja Their parting words were "please enjoy and hope you come back again". Two years later had an opportunity to visit Harolds on June 15th, and as I walked through i heard a familiar voice saying "I remember you". Words to make anyone smile. Again in addition to the wings ordered Fried Fish Sandwich with American Cheese (as I wanted something else other than Chicken). I noticed this Harold's chicken when I was here in Miami last June and finally decided to go for lunch during a September visit. The attendant had as much personality as a door knob but my food was piping hot since I was the only person in the joint. The chicken and fish was cooked golden brown. So were the fries. Only thing I didn't like was I paid 26 bucks for two pieces of chicken one piece of fish and fries. Ridiculously priced and definitely not worth it. I guess since it's south beach that makes it ok. The chicken and the shrimps were cooked to perfection, as well as the fries and that (1) slice of white bread. The mild and hot sauces were on point. I met the owner and congratulated him on his successful business. The service could have been a little bit warmer as I got no eye contact with the guys taking the orders. I also thought that the music choice was bad as it was only 2 pm and the hard core rap music was LOUD and vulgar. Maybe a little house music or jazz (Chicago style) and work you way to the rap as the night progresses. BEWARE ! This company with horrible service in Miami is falsely aligning itself as being associated with the REAL Harold's which originated in Chicago. The only other location is in Houston, Texas. It's a knock off and attempting to build and benefit from the original restaurant. Bizarre ! I only gave it one star to allow a post. We reported this to Harold's in Chicago who verified this company has fake locations and is not the success story they tout. Very is misleading.
