This place sucks! Brought in our mustang for some missing clips and a melted dash, all covered under extended warranty. What they supposedly re-clipped keeps falling out it's like they never did anything. There were some problems with a melted dash and nothing was done about it. It took forever to get the clips they "supposedly" ordered; never got a call, had to harass them like 3-4 times for them to actually get them. I only go there cuz it's the only ford in the area. Dave in the Part Department is a Superstar!!! I was driving North on the 101 and my 2014 Ford F150 just kept dying every 20 miles. It would restart and go another 20 miles, but this is no way to vacation with family. We called him on Saturday at around 4:00 p.m. to see if he had a throttle body in stock to fix the issue. He had one in stock and even though they close before I would arrive, he helped my buy it over the phone and gave it to the reception desk to pickup the next day. I just recently bought a new (to me) car at Harper and I love it! T.J. is a fantastic salesman and was willing to do everything in his power to make sure I left happy. I cannot say that I'm thrilled with the rest of the employees. There were a couple minor issues with my vehicle (both could be fixed by a dealer in no more than 20 minutes max) that they either assumed I wouldn't care about or didn't want to fix. Again, T.J. *I feel like by giving one star I'm overrating the service I received yesterday* I scheduled an oil change appointment at Harper at 11 am. Drove 2 hours to the dealership to dropped my car off and was told I will receive a phone call when my car is ready for a pick up. Hours went by when I finally got a phone call from Harper at 3 pm. Their shuttle picked me up around 4 pm so I got my car back after 4 pm. It took 4 hours to get the oil change 11 am - 3 pm. Needless to say I had errands to run besides oil change appointment. I missed very important meeting because my car wasn't ready. Nobody ever apologized for the wait. The employee was arguing with me and tried to tell me it didn't take 4 hours. Well, dear Nathaniel, just so you know my Math is really good and I can count. So, 11 am - 3 pm = 4 hours! On the top of everything, I was charged 86$ not 55$ like they say online when you schedule your appointment. I purchased two vehicles from Harper Motors and was always returning to service my cars at the dealership. My last two experiences with Harper were awful. It took a few hours to get an oil change back in March. It took four hours yesterday. It makes absolutely no sense to schedule appointment because obviously Harper Motors doesn't have a schedule, and doesn't value/appreciate their customers or their customers time. read more

Then it escalated to a yelling match, him trying to justify bad customer service plus the deceptions by yelling over me. Then said that I was accusing them of being racist, but in my original review, I just relayed the way I felt, and I had a feeling that it was one of the factors, since other customers who weren't asian were well attended. Even caucasian customers were staring at me. So I wish I can give them negative stars. original post november 18, 2013 It should really be one star but the sales guy who helped me was patient and nice, it's too bad the dealer was not forth coming with all the information. I enquired about the focus st with Kurt, the fleet manager/sales man. He didn't have one so I rest drove a fiesta ST. Then i briefly talked with kurt about getting the ST. After dealing with two dishonest Hyundai sales people, i called kurt if he could get me a focus st in tangerine scream, and kurt found several, one red one that was 2013 and one tangerine scream 2014. So i told him i wanted the tangerine scream, and i gave him all the info over the phone since i lived in crescent city and i, like most americans have to work. At first they gave me 1500 in rebares and reluctantly looked into competitors lease conquest cash after really beig agressive about it. Then kurt tried to get me to agree to an interest rate of 6%, and i told him that was a deal breaker, since i had tier 1 credit. Next thing you know he tells me i was approved through Ford for 0% for 5 years. Then he told me the car will be at their dealer in few days, that they are sending their driver to trade cars. Then next thing you know, i asked kurt how many miles the car had, he told me over 250 miles. I was upset at this point, Kurt didn't tell me that someone was actually driving the car back, i thought someone would be hauling it back on a flat bed. I reluctantly went down, because i did love the car, and when we were ready to do all the paperwork, i noticed it said 2013. I talked to kurt about it and he tells me that the 2014 does not have as much rebate incentives a the 2013. So after test driving (odomerer said 280), i wert in to see the finance manager Antoine, he was pleasant to deal with. After all that, when it was time to drive it home, kurt was showing me how to use the infotainment system and blu tooth. I popped the hood to see the engine, it was making kind of a low rattling noise. Closed the hood and noticed a small chip in the paint, not verynoticeable but very deep, down to the metal (this is a special paint that is tripple coat), also few surface scrathes on top right side of the hood. This "new car" buying experience was totally ruined. I told Kurt I cannot leave the dealer with the car in this condition, and he tried to down play it by saying that the dealer will get it fixed for me at a later time. I told him that is not acceptable, and the GM came and tried to make light of the situation, they even insinuated that the damage could have happen durring my test drive. My response was, "this kind of damage (deep paint chip) does not happen at driving 60 mph. It only happens at higher speed. If you were buying a new car, would you buy it in my position?" He reluctantly said "no". As the whole deal was voided and i got my down payments back. Next day i called the medford Ford dealer and talked to their fleet manager. He told me if I went through them this would all have been avoided, since the dealer in eureka got the car from them, and at the time the vehicle left, it had 7 miles on the odometer and no damage. So i google mapped the distance from medford Ford dealer to Harper Ford and it was only 189 miles. The odometer read 280. So where did the extra 70-80 miles come from. My suspicion is that just about every employees at Harper took it out on a joy ride, thinking the deal was in the bag. I would never deal with them again. In this economy and with people not spending money, treating a customer like this (dishonest and abusive towards their vehicle), i have my suspicion that since i am not caucasian factored in to this also, since i am writing my experience, many more will think twice before coming to this dealer. read more

Eek! Methinks not - one star. AVOID THESE GUYS Our new Kia started acting funny and the check engine light came on. I grabbed my electronic reader and it gave me one code (CAM CHAIN PROBLEMS) HARPER FORD COUNTRY call back the next day to say it is fixed and it was only a spark plug. Then I requested all the plugs to be changed and plug wires. The person on the phone said it would be $130.00 - which I thought was a great deal. IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE I was charge $130 for them to change 1 spark plug. They charged me $14 for the spark plug and the rest was labor and taxes. Nice folks, but relatively poorly organized. As I write this, I'm sitting, waiting for my car a full 90 minutes after my appt. for an oil change. I'd recommend doing routine maintenance anywhere else. My car was purchased here, so I try to maintain here, but this is just absurd. Lesson learned. read more

I called the shop they recommended me to and they laughed at the "no service on cars 20 years or older" and simply said "well we like to do the work they won't do, cause we actually fix cars" so needless to say. I took my Ford Explorer to Harper's in January for an electrical problem. Bill Lackey was my Service Coordinator. He did an amazing job, he had my problem analyzed by Remi who determined that the Control Module required replacement. I had had this problem looked at before and was told that further analysis was required and that the suspected part could be $1000. Remi's expertise determined the exact cause of the problem and corrected it with a part costing $300.00! Bill kept me informed throughout the process. This review is for the purchase of a used truck from Harper. I was searching all over the state for my perfect truck, and Harper had 2 of them that fit the bill, so I drove all the way down from Tahoe (7 hours) to look at it. I was a little worried that it would not be as advertised or as pictured. But beforehand, I called and Chris gave me detailed info on both of them, and when I did get there, I found that the trucks were exactly as he described them. I knew which one I wanted right away, and they worked with me on the financing and the price. Chris was good to work with, and he even knew the previous owner of the truck so he could tell me about its history. I feel like I got a fair price and a good deal, and so far the truck is just as I had hoped it would be. I feel good supporting this dealer, one of the oldest in the country and still family owned. Bought a 2007 X3 BMW in Dec 2013. Apparently the car had the front windshield replaced with an after market windsheild. Drove it off of the lot and the rear view mirror fell off the wind shield. Called Harper Ford and they told me no problem just get it fixed and bring us the bill. They told me honestly, that the stuff they use doesnt work that well. So i had it fixed, which cost me $25. Its a beautiful car and i do love it. My salesman Laurence Smith was very professional, Antionne the finance guy was very nice. Really dont have anything negative to say, and yes i'd buy another vehicle from them and Id definitely recommend them. And i have never encountered any racism at this delearship. Communication is pretty bad. What is the point in making a service appointment if the car takes hours just to get looked at? It's not a service appointment, it's a "drop off my car appointment". It also sure would have been nice to know that making an 11:30 appointment is pointless, since the technicians take lunch at 12. So glad I could come in at 11:30 to have my car sit in the lot until 1 before there's a chance it will even be looked at. It would also sure be nice to be told that there's not a shuttle at 12:15 when I tell them that I plan to take the shuttle and it's 11:30. All I would have needed to know to have a better experience was "if you bring your car in at 1 it will get serviced just as soon as if you bring it in at 11:30." And even without that information, just knowing that there's no 12:15 shuttle so I can have someone pick me up instead of waiting around for 2 hours (while my car isn't worked on) would have been great. read more

I was prepared to spend about $30-40 on this job plus an additional amount on an oil change. However, Bill knew this job and after getting a bulb he changed it out in about 5 min. Wow! I have purchased 2 vehicles from harper's in the last 18 months. Additionally i assisted my father in buying a used truck there as well in the last 12 months. Both the sales and service aspects have been pleasant... SALES: one purchase was made with "Kurt". he was very helpful in assisting in finding the right priced vehicle. We had a limited budget for this purchase and the lot did not have what fit our needs at the time. Kurt took our information and followed up when new inventory that it was brought in. When i say "followed up" i am NOT saying he was a stalker, like many dealership reps i have worked with in the past. He called only when he had something that fit our needs. He never tried to move us from the parameters we had set. That is truly appreciated and unfortunately uncommon. 2 purchases were made w Chris. Chris too was very helpful. We must have test drove 15+ vehicles before decisions were made. When Chris took our offer to the finance manager for "approval" (aka negotiations) i got the feeling he was working on our behalf to get a good deal. I do not expect any ridership to "give it away" but i do expect a fair an honest price. Chris worked to be sure that happened. SERVICE We have used Harper for the service on more than one vehicle as well. Service staff has always been very friendly and do not try to "sell you" on additional items unless really needed. We specifically dealt with Susan most recently and REALLY liked working with her. In dealership where service writers are paid commission it appears they are always trying to up your over all bill.... we did NOT get this from Susan. MGMNT Trevor is the GM (and likely owner seeing his last name is Harper). Each time i was on the lot for a purchase he was also visiting with customer. He appears very engaged in the business and eager to assist when necessary. Fortunately all my transaction were smooth and he did not need to get involved. Will certainly consider them again when shopping for a used vehicle. read more
