Bought a 2022 mazda from Harper. It ended up having THREE bad wheel bearings and a MAJOR refrigerant leak. The bad wheel bearings was a major safety concern and the dealership offered no help even after expressing this was my only means of transportation. In regards to the AC, they looked at it and reassured us it was blowing "ice cold." Dustin, a sales rep, even made an unprofessional comment about me potentially not knowing it was working correctly because of what I was wearing. Well Dustin, it was confirmed by the Mazda dealership that it wasn't and had a major leak. If you have to buy a vehicle from here, inspect it well. I had the most awful experience here. My car was in 12 times in the last 2 years. I bought extended warranty with the car and every time I would take it in less than 2 months later something else would be wrong. They would file claims again my warranty any chance they could get. I had one service guy who was actually kind and helpful. The others were extremely rude and anytime you would question things you were made to feel stupid and as an inconvenience. I spent more money on the so called issues that never showed to be an issue until I would pick up from a previous problem. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! This is the second time Harper has, I feel, lied to us about a repair. Both times, the vehicle was under warranty. The first time, A/C, they told us we didn't know how to use the AC properly and sent us away. Brought back in and magically they "found" the condenser was not working... and that it was damaged by us. Second time was when back up cam/lane safety/etc were not working. They claim the sensor, located behind the bumper, was damaged. Not covered under warranty they claim. No proof, no showing us parts, etc. Just a really underhanded way of treating customers. I bought this car used (VW EOS) from Harper VW in 2016. The sales person was Steve Holmes. Other than a vibration issue (remedied with new tires specifically designed for this make and model) it has purred like cougar. I purchased a plane ticket and rental car to head down there to get the car she wanted. Stopped in today for an oil change and for them to diagnose and resolve a warning light that I had a light out on vehicle. I told the tech that I have had trouble with my city light (small light in high beam location) going off when I start the car and the indicator light comes on. Which forces me to turn car off and get out, raise the hood, hit the light itself which causes the city light to come on, close hood and start car and error code is cleared. He said it was because I had aftermarket license plate lights on the vehicle. Even before I put those on I was having trouble with the city light. Left the dealership with no resolve as they wanted to replace my license plate lights which were oos. I also asked to have some cash I had on Harper rewards used and take. Off my purchase today. Which was not done. Tech said they no longer use it but he would try to find out how much I had and have it removed off bill. This did not happen either and by the point I reached checkout I was not going to argue. As I walked to my vehicle i see that the car wash that's part of the $120 oil change totally missed my front and rear bumper and only cleaned about 25% of each tire. All in all I left the dealership feeling undervalued. I've taken my cars here for years. Unfortunately the tech I normally went with is no longer there. That person really knew their stuff and had attention to detail in all they did. I left today feeling like I was just another $ sign and they quickly moved on to the next ring. I was able to talk to a salesman today about a vehicle I was interested in and he was nice and put me on a list. I get it that they are busy, times are tough with reduced staffing or labor issues. My wife and I were very interested in 2018 VW Atlas. We visited twice and taking a test drive with two different Atlas. We worked with Cris who was extremely nice and not pushy at all. The third time we visited we did negotiate and make a deal! We did trade in a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and they gave us exactly what we wanted for the trade in. As for the price of the Atlas, they also gave us a great deal on that to where we didn't have to go back and forth on the price but once. I was even able to negotiate cross bars for our cargo box that we already owned. Our experience was great! We had our handicap child with us each time we visited and they were so nice to all of us. Super chill people that are very helpful. They wash your car with a paid oil change and also top off your fluids. You can't ask for more and for the same price that other dealerships and or shops that offer you maybe at 5 or $10 discount all they do is a simple oil change. The lobby area was pretty sophisticated and junkie nevertheless clean which I highly appreciated. They have free coffee and creamer with very cheap snacks available for customers while they wait. The only nuisance is coming in off of Kingston Pike especially if you're on the opposite side of the road which is nearly impossible to turn into. And even if you get in the entry ways are very narrow so dealing with that is however you want to take it! Other than that the service People Are Awesome highly recommend. read more

No one likes getting their car serviced. It's always shockingly expensive and never convenient. That said, Harper does their best to make the experience as painless as possible. They offer loaners for long service visits. And nice ones. They communicate regularly. They wait for instructions before fixing expensive items. Chris has been my service manager twice and he was great. I don't like getting car work done, but this is a good place when you have to do it. read more

I went there for both routine maintenance and to have a leak diagnosed on my 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan. The fee to diagnose the issue alone was ridiculous. $150 for something that all they did was remove the easily removable side panel in the trunk to check. The service member also tried to upsell me on changing out my brake pads soon. 5mm on a car with 59000 miles as a 2014 model (in other words, isn't driven often) probably won't need the brake pads changed any time soon. You'd think factors like this and the fact that I've only come here for service would make a difference in how this is approached. For example, they almost did a service that they did in the previous checkup. The worst part though is being told what the issue was with the sunroof leak and that it would cost over $1100 to fix. This leak is a common issue with Volkswagen cars if you do a quick online search. It's so common that I'm sure your technicians already knew exactly what the issue was before they checked. This problem is so prevalent that I'm frankly shocked VW isn't fixing this for free. Maybe they are in some places, but not this dealership. I ended up fixing the issue myself using $10 worth of couplers, $3 worth of drain hose to extend the line, and a few hours of my time. Even at my billing rate at my job, this still came nowhere close to the $1100 I was quoted. Your overhead is not that much. Quit trying to fleece your customers. I won't be coming back. The amenities here are frankly poor compared to other dealerships in the area. When I take my Kia to one of the local Kia dealerships, they offer a large selection of free snacks and drinks. Here my options were bad coffee and popcorn. When my car was ready, they did not escort me to my car. In fact, I went to the wrong car first because there was another identical looking VW Tiguan in the lot closest to the service entrance. After opening the door and noting the smell and appearance, I realized it wasn't mine, and one of the service members awkwardly told me that mine was further down. Imagine if some random person had just decided to take off in my car since it was in the lot with the key in it and no one keeping an eye on it. read more

Took my Tiguan in for service two weeks ago. (Oil change and tire rotation) Had my 5 month old with me. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. The waiting room was cool and comfortable. My car was finished quickly and showed up shiny and squeaky clean. Took my 2019 Gulf Sport Wagon with 13500 miles in for service on Sat, June 5. Approx 45 mins later the service manager told me that my car needed a wheel alignment and that two rear tires were "chopped" Because they were "chopped" he advised against rotation and advised to wait for tire replacement. He advised that alignment on my model was very difficult and would cost $500. That price seemed very wrong. I went down the road to Fisher Tire and got the alignment done for $75 thereby saving $425. I have also never heard of tires being "chopped" before. I could not see anything with a visual inspection. I was a new customer at Harper and had high hopes that they were one of the few trustworthy dealerships in the area. I must say that the VW was probably the best new car I have ever purchased. Was looking for a new car for my son for over a month. He wanted a Tiquan R-Line and we have visited this dealership on multiple occasions to look. We finally found a used one and were ready to purchase. It was a 2020 Tiguan that was perfect for him. We worked with Dustin. The vehicle had a couple of dents on the side and we asked if they could be pulled out. He said that he had to talk to the body guys and let us know. He contacted us on Monday 5/7/2024 and sad that they got the out. He was also going to check on getting some scratches fixed later in the week. He set up a time of 9:00am on Tuesday for us to come purchase. We told him that we would put down 13k and would finance the rest. He told us to bring our insurance card and he would check on the financing. My wife and I were ready to walk out the door this morning (Tuesday 5/8/2024) when she got a text from Dusting saying that the car was sold. SOLD!!!!!! AFTER WE HAD YOU PULL THE DENTS FOR US???? I am absolutely besides myself pissed at this! There is no excuse. I talked to the sales manager, Chris, who understood and admitted that they screwed up. Well, that doesn't help me. The 24/7 roadside assistance they use as a selling point for new vehicles is a joke. Do not rely on that alone, get roadside through your insurance company. My mom Hit a pothole on I-40 in the snow at 5am and got a flat on her brand new 2022 Passat , waited on the side of the road for hours and had to call them 3 different times for them to correct her location. End result, they claimed they couldn't get anyone out there to help her after the 3rd phone call. Thankfully, a state trooper helped her and got her on her way. read more

It was sold with a bad Cadillac Converter and they won't replace it without charging me $1000.00. Where do I even start.... I advise all to read because this involves VW Corporate as well as VW dealerships in both GA and TN. The overall VW brand and company as a whole. I was leased a 2015 Passat May 2015 from the Stone Mountain VW dealership in GA. Close to 7 months later, my car broke down in the middle Tennessee with what we found out to be a "cam shaft" recall in which the entire motor and breaking system failed, leaving me stranded with zero control or function of the car. My breaks gave out going 65+ MPH on the highway with my sister in the car. My car was towed to Harper VW in Lenoir City, TN where they went on to work on the car without my permission. Considering I live in Atlanta, GA and not Tennessee, my family did not want my car to be worked on there for many reasons. They did it anyway, leaving me with zero options, a bigger expense, and no loner car. Because of this, my parents had to go back and forth from GA to TN to pick up my sister and I missing work, etc. It is obvious that all they care about is getting the business and the money. After days of talking with both VW Corporate, Stone Mountain VW, and Harper VW, as well as another VW dealership in the area... No one would give me a loner car while my broken down car was sitting in another state. I was the perfect candidate for a loner car and among 3 dealerships, NO ONE would give me one. Unbelievable. On top of all that... my car was only temporarily fixed because with this cam shaft recall, there is no permanent fix. When I went to pick up my car after it was worked on, I asked the service manager if they fixed both cam shafts considering if one went out, the other would eventually, and he said to me, "Here at VW we only fix what is broken." Meaning, my 2nd camshaft is bound to go out soon and I will be in a very similar situation, putting myself and others in danger. Huge mistake to talk down to me in that way. Also, the temporary fix involved slowing down my breaking system, leaving me with very poor brakes on a car that was brand new. I should not be driving a "lemon" vehicle around as well as paying a very high car payment for a car in which is a "lemon." From the expenses that accrued throughout this entire process because of VW, I only received a very small percentage of my money back from VW Corporate. The rental car in which VW Stone Mountain promised they would cover, was never reimbursed to me as well as many other expenses in which should have been reimbursed. I have gone into Stone Mt. Dealership and was told to my face that the rental car was never going to be reimbursed, even though we were promised. My family has contacted VW Corporate, VW's CEO, as well as another dealership in the area asking for their help, and they simply have said that they can not help us. I remind you that my car is a lease, meaning that I do not entirely own the car. So essentially, I am paying a very high car payment every month for a car that technically is not mine that is a lemon and defective. How is this morally okay? I have asked VW's CEO, VW Corporate, VW Stone Mountain, as well as other dealerships in the area for 2 simple things: 1. Please reimburse my family and I for the expenses in which I accrued throughout this process resulting from being sold a lemon vehicle. 2. Please switch out my current lemon vehicle for a vehicle that is not defective. A very simple thing to do considering you are in business to sell cars to the best of your ability and to give your customers a great experience and service. In the big scheme of things, I am not asking for very much. VW is simply not looking at the big picture from this entire situation. I am 24 years old, your average demographic of customers. My sister, 21 years old, recently purchased a 2016 Jetta from Nalley VW even though this entire complication was going on with me. You are making a huge mistake not helping me because I am your current and future customer. My Father also has a VW CC. We are a family who purchases VW's. You have left my family and I no choice but to continue with our legal services and using our attorney for all those involved. read more

I had to take my Tiguan to the service department when it flooded and took out a bunch of electrical systems due to rain and a leaking panoramic sunroof which my insurance claims is a "know issue". It cost me $500+ for them to "do diagnostics" knowing good and well that the sunroofs fail! When I picked it up it was full of water from them probably doing a hose test or leaving it out in the rain. The windshield was so full of condensation it was impossible to see out of. They didn't even have the decency to wipe it off! They also apparently they had to remove my headliner to "diagnosis it" because after it was put back on it was sagging, wrinkled, just an absolute mess and it certainly was not that way when I dropped it off! When I was looking at buying a new car I went there, asked for certain specs, was told they'd check and call me back. They never did, I went ahead and bought one in another city. Same with spare parts I requested: they never called back, I bought them online. Need help with minor collision damage? Nope, they can't be bothered. This place is a nightmare. Took my TDi in for 40k Mile service in late November. People are always polite but price was almost $450.00 for cabin filter, fuel filter, and oil change. They are supposed to top off fluids, but they filled my windshield washer fluid with something that freezes in the sprayer nozzles as soon as outside temperatures fall below 32 Degrees F, causing an unsafe driving condition. Also the VW washer fluid has a distinct citrus scent, and now there is hardly any scent (could it be plain water?) For the high prices that they charge for service, they should really use safer winter blend washer fluid year round. I'm sure they could have tacked on a few more bucks to the already ridiculous price of the service. Before you buy a new VW, you better look into how much it costs to get dealer service, and always ask for winter blend washer fluid, even if it's a warm day. Probably won't be buying another VW with the diesel buyback check I will be getting. read more

When it comes to scheduling an appointment, making sure I have a loaner car, or troubleshooting a problem he always takes care of it.
