comfortable as well. They have punch cards which is good, but I'm terrible with remembering so it would be great if they went digital with rewards. Maybe 1 point per visit or 1 point per $1 with tiered rewards. It's the only coffee shop I go to in the area that doesn't have digital rewards. Would love to see more vegan options on the menu, maybe a cinnamon roll lol. Con is they open late for a cafe. Coffee shops typically open at 7am.

Harper's Café is more than just a coffee shop--it's like a home away from home! It's a warm, community-oriented space where I've met so many wonderful people who have become friends. The owner does an amazing job of bringing the community together, hosting events, and supporting other local businesses. It's a welcoming spot for all ages, and I often spend hours working here. One of my favorite menu items is the "Double Cup," which lets you have two different drinks in one cup--perfect for days when I can't decide between a latte or a matcha.

The avocado toast is also fantastic, and I highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches. But if you're a pancake lover, you have to try them! They're served with a maple butter syrup that is absolutely incredible. Harper's Café is a true...

try the French toast because I've heard so many good things, but they told me it would be a 30-minute wait. Our food ended up taking about 20 minutes anyway, so honestly, I probably should've just held on and waited for it. Next time! Prices are what you'd expect for a coffee shop in the suburbs of West Orange. We lucked out with a parking spot right in front, but parking in that area can definitely be tricky. They also sell Harper's Café merch -- t-shirts, sweatshirts, and quarter zips. I'm definitely going back to try the French toast and the pancakes because I saw several people ordering them, so they must be worth it. This is a great place to hang out, read a book, get some work done, chat with a friend, or vibe solo. Harper's Café gives you all the good feels, and I'll absolutely be returning. One note: the menu is limited, and not everything you see online may be available that day -- just something to keep in mind.

the egg platter my son wasn't a fan of.. I didn't know they put cheese in the eggs and it was a sharp non traditional cheese.. we weren't a fan of the potatoes either but the pastries were great.. not kids friendly but I'll return...

If you're looking for really good food and cafe drinks, Harper's needs to be on your list! Had one of the best chai lattes of my LIFE at this spot. It was rich & sweet with the perfect amount of cinnamon. I also ordered the "Harper's Club with turkey bacon" and it was a 10/10! The hot honey was the cherry on top. I will definitely have to go back and try their coffee, but I am confident it will not disappoint. It is a smaller coffee shop, so seating is somewhat limited, but I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy at all. I wouldn't say the space is all that aesthetic, it certainly has more of a chill, laid back vibe. But there are very cool paintings along the side wall, and even a little gondola lift booth that I think is very unique :) They also have a section with a bunch of games to play at your table too, which is cool!

My husband and I stopped in Harper's Cafe this weekend. We enjoyed our drinks. I got a large green matcha and he got a large Americano. I would get the matcha again. Originally I ordered the Blue Matcha, but was told they no longer do that there. Alas, I missed my chance to try it :( There was good music playing and we enjoyed the artwork on the walls. I put in a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the prints. *fingers crossed* The cafe is pet friendly because a few customers stopped in to get drinks while out walking their furbabies. There were quite a number of pick up orders, too. Harper's is a nice local spot in the Valley in WO-Town!

Harper's Cafe is a small Cafe in West Orange with a vibrant afro-centric flair. It's cozy enough to get some work done or just read a book peacefully. The only drawback was they didn't have the air conditioner on during a hot day. I came to try their famous double drinks. I got half matcha and half mango lemonade. I enjoyed the experience of alternating between 2 different drinks in one sitting. The mango lemonade tasted like it was fresh squeezed.

Small spot with a chill vibe. Service was fast, Barista was polite. There's street parking, & since it's near a corner you have an easy two streets to choose from. It's just mellow and low key. Cookies, & a couple of cakes from what I saw this go round. They seem to make food, but I was just popping in. It could definitely be a go to spot for when I'm in the area.

I'm in love with Harper's cafe. It's a relatively new black owned coffee shop and it brings the perfect vibe for a productive work day. There's lots of seating with options for a reading/lounging vs a table and comfortable chair to get work done on your laptop. I ordered a chai with oat milk and it was delicious. I appreciate them using mugs for drinks ordered inside to reduce waste. The best part about my experience was the music and beautiful art work on the walls. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend if you're in the area. OH! And their wifi is great

I am so excited to give this place five stars. I went here for brunch on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. This is an adorable coffee shop that also serves food. The coffee is absolutely incredible. I got the whipped coffee and it was actually incredible. We got to sit in this cool booth, I highly recommend doing this at least once. We got lucky and the family sitting in there when we got arrived finished just as we placed our order. For food, we got the Truffled Grilled Cheese and the Pancakes with Maple Butter Syrup with a side of Home Fries. The Truffled Grilled Cheese was absolutely delicious. If you are vegetarian, and get it without bacon, you'll need something else to cut the flavor, but it is excellent with the bacon. Very flavorful and they use good bread. It comes with a side of arugula which is good, but the dressing was just okay. The Pancakes literally have the BEST syrup. The syrup is house made and I suggested to our waitress that they serve shots of it. The home fries were good, but not great. For the things I said that were good, but not great, it just because everything else was so delicious. This is a great place for a quiet brunch, to grab a coffee, or get some work done. I love this place, and it kind of feels like a hidden gem. Service is excellent, but you have to ask for water if you want it. If you want a quick bite, this might not be the best place as everything is made to order and fresh and our brunch probably lasted an hour and a half which was perfect for us as we wanted a lazy morning kind of pace. They were apologetic about how long it took, but we honestly didn't mind. We got the Erica Scones to go and they were absolutely delicious! I heated mine up in the microwave and it was really quite excellent. They have a gender neutral single stall bathroom, and there is street parking. I highly recommend at least getting a coffee here. One visit will convince you to come back for brunch.

Harpers is almost a hidden little coffee shop right in unassuming area. Once you step inside the coffee shop though the vibe and aroma surround you. There are several choices of drinks and a small selection of breakfast sandwiches which I've not had the pleasure of trying yet, but can attest the scones are great. There are board games to play, wifi and seating that encourages staying awhile to sip and snack or grab and go. They have some merch here if you need a hoodie or tshirt. I can absolutely see Harpers growing, especially since it's location is almost standalone in the way of independent coffee cafes and it's within walking distance of many homes and apartments in the area. Street parking can be a bit tricky though, so be aware of that. Coffee snob or not, come visit Harper's

Finally made it in here recently after hearing about this coffee shop for a year or so. It is very cute! Downside is the parking in the area is hard so its best if you can walk over here. I only had a hot chocolate and scone for my first visit but they were both good. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu options! The cafe is small but cute with a bunch of tables. I like the big windows in the front. It feels very cozy and comfortable. Its great to finally see some more interesting places opening up in this area.

I needed coffee beans so I made the trek up here. They didn't have any available for another week so I ordered a latte to stay. After fifteen minutes I asked if it hadn't been made could I just cancel the order because it had been so long and I needed to get going. She told me it was already made and then proceeded to make it right in front of me. So I left with it in a to go cup and took my first sip and had to spit it out, apologies if anyone saw me, but it burned my entire mouth. A waste of an hour drive and $5. Customer service needs to be worked on.

Waited an hour to head here on a Saturday morning at 9 am. Walked in, no music, didn't smell like food or even have a pleasant aroma, actually smelled like old grease. The menu was 1/2 what is featured online. I walked out. Wasted time and money ubering there. I wouldn't eat there. read more

Delicious strong coffee and their baked goods are my favorite especially the Kouign Amann. Pecan roll delicious too! Have had cappuccino's, macchiato and lattes. Very good especially if you like strong robust coffee. read more

Their whipped coffee might be the best coffee drink I've ever had in my life and I've been to plenty of coffee shops from coast to coast. But I've also never had whipped coffee before so maybe that's why it was amazing. But the fact that they use coffee ice cubes instead of water cubes makes me want to slap everyone else for not doing the same. We had the egg plate and not so simple sandwich and it was just ok. The brioche bun was pretty good but that was about it. The potatoes are pretty good as well. We ordered takeout so this could have affected the quality since it wasn't super hot and fresh by the time we ate it. The coffee was worth every penny and I would absolutely come here again for the coffee. read more

Very unassuming from the outside... Music: Perfect volume and selection. Feels like part of the ambiance and not just something that's randomly chosen. Most places just put up whatever and keep the volume too low. Here, they love music and so do I, so...we're a match. Decor: Custom, creative, warm, inviting. Food: Delicious, creative. Loving that avocado toast. Coffee: Had to try the whipped coffee and it did not disappoint. Pretty sure the single huge ice cube was made out of coffee too. Just brilliant. The Staff: They seem passionate about what they do, maybe they're the owners, I don't know, but I'll be back all the time. I'm adding this review mostly because this place deserves more customers and I wouldn't have found it without the other reviews I read here! read more

Made a recent visit here. I want to start off by saying that the customer service experience was great. They are a friendly group. I ordered the Egg Platter which includes two farm fresh eggs, bacon, seasoned home fries and toast. I got my eggs cooked scrambled. Overall it was good. My fiancé ordered The Goddess Salad. It was a smaller portion then he was expecting. After his meal he was still hungry. The decor has a mix matched theme but it seems a bit out of place. I heard good stuff about the coffee but did not try it this time around. Black-owned biz that feels like going to your cheers spot...so yea that's possible! Great melting pot of diverse people, entrepreneurs, artists, etc.. I discovered this black-owned cafe two months ago as I was doing my daily walk in town. I was completely surprised as I drive past it daily and finally noticed it. When I dined, I ordered their avocado toast with goddess salad and an Oatmilk latte which were both delicious. The next time I went I tried their speciality latte with caramel and their hot cocoa bombs too. They were both tasty and enjoyable to drink. This cafe has indoor and limited outdoor dining. The staff was pretty attentive and loved the homey vibes I experienced during my visits. I should also add that they roast their own coffees for those who may be interested. read more

Cute shop with a nice, casual atmosphere. There's art on the walls and some board games inside. They offer a bunch of different lemonade flavor options - we opted for the lavender and strawberry, which were both tasty. Service is quick usually, and always friendly. Both the coffee drinks and beans are great. read more

The food is amazing and staff were very friendly and attentive. I came for an oat milk latte and had the avocado toast (served with arugula salad) - it was delicious! The medley of flavors were great and the ingredients were fresh. The music was chill, a great cozy vibe overall. On my out I purchased some of their homemade ice-cream - also very YUMMY! If you want a very delicious hot honey chicken sammy with an even more delicious arugula salad paired with great music, this spot is for you. I felt so comfortable the whole time I was here. My daughter insisted on getting sandwiches from here. I was a little disappointed that they used regular bread on a $13.50 sandwich. The aioli or hot honey seeped through the bread. For the price it would have been nice on a ciabatta. The chicken was a bit over seasoned. What's the saying? New Year, new me?! Well I guess that's true because I have tried the amazing "blue matcha" at this little gem, and I am never going back to anything else! The blue matcha is delicious! The blue color makes it that much more exciting to drink! This coffee shop sells really good drinks and bites to eat. They have unique things like the blue matcha and peanut butter hot chocolate. The turmeric latte and chai tea latte are also really good. As for the food, I have tried the "Not so Simple" breakfast sandwich....YUMMM and the breakfast platter which is also tasty. If you are in the Essex County area, and you want to try a coffee shop that's not generic, check this gem out! read more

I wished I lived more nearby and I would come here every day. The food was so so amazing and everyone in the staff was extremely friendly, they had live jazz music and more importantly THEY SELL ICE CREAM. Very nice with very new flavors of ice cream. I would 100% recommend visiting this place it was a perfect experience. read more

I've been to this cafe before the pandemic and just ordered delivery thru GrubHub this morning. The coffee is absolutely amazing. I ordered the egg breakfast and it was delicious. I can't wait for restrictions to lift to be able to sit in their lovely space and enjoy their coffee. Staff when I visited pre-pandemic were extremely friendly. This is a gem!! read more

Harper's Cafe is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. The food was SO good -- I grabbed a breakfast sandwich to go and it did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I didn't get a chance to try the coffee this time, but I'm already planning a return just for that.
