I highly recommend to start your day with affogato simply because you won't find this drink just anywhere. I tried their oatmeal (Omg!) and I wanted to scream Thank you! For not putting cinnamon in it (most of the places do). The staff was super nice and helpful. I also got a latte to go and they offered to ask for it right before I was ready to leave. Cool place is DT Rapid City. We were heading to Mt Rushmore (as many other were), but wanted coffee for the roadmap. H&O is in a very nicely renovated historic building. Menu for coffee covers all the standards. I opted for an Americano. Came out piping hot, smooth flavor profile, low acid. Exactly what I wanted. The service was fast and friendly. A cute cafe located right in downtown! Parking is metered parking (free on weekends)! I went on a Sunday lunchtime and it was pretty busy. There was always a line, thats how you know its good! I was skeptical of their matcha latte since it lacked the vibrant green, but it tasted better than I thought (maybe the sweetness overpowered it?). I had the turkey avocado and thought it was just alright, maybe if it was warm and had lettuce instead of sprouts it'd be better. This was a nice find during our roadtrip! We wanted some good breakfast food and we found this place. It is a spacious place with an upstairs seating area also. The service was good, efficient, and friendly. When I got my breakfast sandwich it did not look like much, but it made me full (in a good way). We were traveling the country and experienced numerous coffee shops (33 states... 1-2 shops a day). The yelp reviews we read sounded great. Very full shop and a busy line... ordered a "bold or dark roast?"... "we like our caffeine here, so we don't have dark roast"... this may not be verbatim, but it was the gist of the reply...short with no smile... and that was the feel of every interaction...Coffee was "enh" pastries were ok. Sadly it was the worst meal of our entire trip. We both ordered the breakfast bowls and it was clearly reheated for us instead of being fresh. The sweet potato was stale and hard to chew. It appeared to only have 1 sad egg and the "bowl" is just filled with a ton of quinoa and lettuce. It was overall bland and I couldn't eat it. I had a white chocolate lavender latte (on their spring menu) with oat milk and it was tooooo good! I tried the smoked and roasted sammie and it was great! What a fun spot!! On our last day as tourist in South Dakota we went to Rapid City for a little breakfast before our flight. Thank you YELP for guiding us to Harriet & Oak! Not only was the food yummy but the atmosphere was young, hip, and fun with a VW Bus in the middle of the restaurant! I had Breakfast Pastie with Ham, egg, and cheese with potato, green pepper and onion and washed it down with a spicy chai latte! The king pasty was so good. I ate it before taking a picture, but I did manage to get a picture of my chai. Wish I lived closer so I could go back again! read more

I loved that there was a VW bus in here that you can sit inside and sip your coffee! We got in line and they had some menus we can look at while we waited in line. It was pretty busy on a Friday morning. I ordered a breakfast sandwich - there is an option of bacon or ham on it. I opted out and just got egg and cheese. I also order cold brew with brown sugar cold foam. The coffee didn't take too long. We were given a number and waited at a table. It took quite some time for the sandwiches though. There is a "tutorial" for what you are to say when you get to the order counter because the baristas are too bothered to just talk to you. On the other hand, best scone I've had in ages.
