I'm always a bit reticent to try in-hotel restaurants, but the Gold Bison's food was spot-on. The bison short-ribs were a real treat for a visitor who rarely sees bison on our hometown menus. The wine selection was mediocre, but my Malbec was satisfactory. You are sitting in a large atrium beneath 10 floors of Doubletree suites. We have used them for breakfast twice and they have either the buffet for $16.99 or ala carte options. They prefer you take the buffet for ease, but no issue getting the regular breakfast menu. Their omelet option is delicious. Service is friendly and helpful. read more

I ordered to-go as I had to get to bed early for a long day. The person at the desk who took my order was very friendly and we had good conversation as I was trying to decide what I wanted and places to explore in the area. I got the quesadilla with pime rib since that seemed to be the vibe. The dish was really greasy but also really good! The menu in general looked like it had a lot of good options. Late Dinner [Rapid City SD] We found this restaurant in Rapid City close to our place and they were open a little later than most restaurants. It is located inside a Holiday Inn hotel. At 8:30p we were one of few other diners. Our waitress was Lori. We ordered a Buffalo Burger w/ Parmesan truffle fries and a BLT. Hubby and I shared the burger and sandwich so we could have a taste of each. Everything tasted very good. Loved the crispy truffle fries with peppered garlic aioli. They gave generous portion of bacon on the BLT... the applewood smoked bacon was the best. The sole reason this place gets two stars is the waitress was very very nice. Service was good but very slow. The food is HORRIBLE. I'm honestly very very confused how they have 4 stars. For starters, this french onion is a crime. I understand if a place can't use gruyère but this was like mozzarella????? it was barely edible. The burger, ZERO salt it's kind of insane. One of the worst burgers i've had. Fries very tasty actually! Good water too doesn't taste like tap water. The place is exactly what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant... I should've known. Also wasn't terribly expensive so you literally get what you pay for. As the ambiance I can't blame them for random hotel guests standing around our table but it was a little awkward. I was looking for something different, thought I would try the Gold Bison. Was surprised when I pulled up to Double Tree by Hilton. Oh well, I'll try it. Quiet Sat morning, loved sound of waterfalls, nice decor and ambiance. Service was excellent as mentioned by others . 5 stars plus. I had the smoked salmon benedict. Bit of disappointment due to hollandaise sauce - flat taste and lacking body. It did have a generous amount of salmon. Potatoes O'Brien were very good with seasoned potatoes. $24 meal, $5 coffee. Didn't realize this restaurant was located inside the Holiday Inn, which is a good thing because I normally completely avoid hotel restaurants. A little pricey, but the food was really good! The service was great, and really liked the fact that the restaurant was an open area in the hotel lobby. Unfortunately, It was four us dining that evening, and not one of us really enjoyed our food. The bison ribs had too much fat and lacked flavor. The ribeye was tough to cut, and the garlic butter was over powering. We stopped into Gold Bison Grill on a Sunday afternoon on the way home from the airport based on its reviews and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! It has an open-concept dining area within the hotel but it stays quiet somehow due to the acoustics. My friend has a gluten allergy and is vegetarian so we asked for Jacob to whip something up for her in lieu of the brunch options. Jacob came by and spoke to us and surprised us with a gluten-free dessert pizza and an AMAZING vegetarian gluten-free pizza. All of the staff was personable and friendly, we felt right at home here. Looking for this restaurant, we were a bit puzzled it was inside Holiday Inn. Its decor has changed a lot from some of these pictures. They've done a great job. We got the bison burgers, local draft beers, and a children's grilled chicken. Fries were amazingly tasty. Everything was pretty good. Caesar salad was the only below average since the greens was mostly white/yellow. Our server's name was Rachel, but what made our experience that much more memorable was the very personable conversation we had with Dennis. Im not sure whether he was the manager, but he saw that our server had not gotten to us so he gave us our water, menu, took our drink/food order. Great guy! Great conversation and very helpful tips. They are located in the Holiday Inn. This review is strictly for the breakfast buffet only. You can't beat the price for the selections they offer up at the buffet table. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage links, bacon, biscuits and gravy, french toast, fresh fruit, oatmeal and a omelette station chef working 3 pans at a time and cooking up waffles in the back. The buffet is served with coffee or tea and a glass of juice. They open up at 6 am for service and by 630 am the place is packed. I've noticed many tour companies use this hotel. So if you want to beat the rush go before 630 or after 7:30 for the crowds to dissipate. A big shout out to Clara who served us during our stay. Please people I know it's a buffet but tip generously! These guys work their butts off. So come hungry for breakfast and leave satisfied. read more

The hotel and restaurant and have been nicely updated, but I'm not a fan of the restaurant being open to the rest of the hotel. You can watch people going to their rooms and they can watch you eat. The water feature is nice, but it gives the whole place a faint smell of chlorine. Our food was just okay. Not great, not terrible. I had a salad with optional bacon wrapped shrimp. Bacon and shrimp are good enough on their own, they don't need to be combined. My husband had the salmon, which was very small and very dry. No music, no ambience, just very quiet and mediocre.
