Steak and Eggs with a side of Bacon

Steak and Eggs is consistently perfect each morning! Fruit is served fresh and the Rye bread is nicely toasted. Breakfast has been delicious all week! Staff is friendly and provides excellent service.

Came here for a wedding as it's attached to a Holiday Inn, and the food was pretty good. Ordered a salmon salad and eventually ordered a pepperoni pizza for the table for a little night cap. The salad was good. I liked that they didn't put the dressing on for you. They brought it out in its own separate cup. The salmon was cooked well, where the salmon kind of fell apart when you broke into it with your fork. The only negative was the pizza seemed like it was a frozen pizza. I know my pizzas and it just didn't have the consistency of a homemade pizza. Oh well, can't always be perfect. I would recommend the salad, I would not recommend the pizza.

Our table was perfectly situated one level up and off from the semi open lounge and piano bar. Our young and very personable, good looking waiter Jonathan, who comes from Delaware and ended up in Johnstown when his father's job transferred him, was everything a server should be. He was very knowledgeable of the wines and bar menu, he was able to advise us as to what were some of the better choices from the dinner menu. He was attentive, charming, right on cue and his bright white smile, jet black hair and blue eyes could launch any ones heart into returning just to enjoy his service again. They have an extensive martini and cocktail menu, my sister in law had a Cosmopolitan and I had a Dirty Martini, both of these were served in a very large chilled cocktail glass. They were seven dollars and change each and were 99% alcohol, powerful stuff and it made me realize once again how weak and over priced the drinks are in the area in which I live. My brother in law had a glass of Shiraz while my sister in law had a Seven Daughter's Syrah blend from California and I had an Italian chardonnay; Pio Cesare L'Altro Piedmont 2007. We were all very pleased with Jonathan's recommendations and he was even kind enough to write them down for us. Harrigan's' has a new tapas menu and it is the only one in town. We were all very excited about this, even though Jonathan was trying to tell us that for sharing we should consider ordering appetizers from the restaurant menu instead, we chose to go with the tapas menu anyway. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Our choices to share were the garlic shrimp which were five large "sauteed shrimp in a garlic olive oil, chipolte peppers and deglazed with brandy". Not even close, they were very bland with none of the flavors coming through and it was almost like they had quickly poached cocktail shrimp. The marinated sirloin beef and manchego cheese were both dry and uneventful. Last we had the crispy breaded white anchovies that were over fried and to the point where no anchovy taste came through at all, a very small portion. The tapas were only served with a basket of rolls but we all agreed they were some of the best rolls we ever had and I enjoyed spreading the roasted garlic on mine. I would love to have the recipe for those rolls. I was still stuffed from lunch and the tapas with two rolls pretty well filled me. The stiff over sized cocktail followed by the glass of wine wasn't helping, plus Jonathan had brought me another full glass of wine that he thought I might like, three of us each had one sip and left the rest sit. I don't think any of us can drink the way we used to. I had a bowl of the lobster bisque with tarragon essence for my entree, which was a large portion and quite good along with another roll I was happy. Hubby had the filet mignon and said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had and he normally does not order filet. My brother in law had the Chef's Veal ravioli of the day and raved about them. My sister in law had the shrimp and crab newburg with mushrooms and gruyere cheese, I got to sample the newburg and it was prepared differently than I have ever seen, it was loaded with shrimp and crab, not heavy at all on the sauce and cheese and it was outstanding. They had dessert and I snitched bites, I was still finishing my drinks and bisque. They ordered the pear cheesecake with homemade apple cinnamon ice cream, you know the pear cheesecake was good, but very subtle in pear flavor, the apple cinnamon ice cream was outrageous. I have a feeling my taste buds were drunk, the carrot cake was exactly the way I like it and the peanut butter and cream cheese pie was my favorite. I give Jonathan five big stars, I give the restaurant and it's menu four to five stars as well as the awesome wine list and the amazingly large potent cocktails. The food is fabulous, but skip the tapas here folks, it is not their forte.

    Reese's peanut butter pie. Heavenly!!!

Trust me I'm one to roll my eyes when it comes to buffet style dinner but this is one exception where i bee-line straight through the crowds to get my grub on.!!!!!! Harrigan's is one of the classiest restaurant/ bars in Johnstown. I have heard about their grand buffet every Mother's Day which is tradition for some but again discouraged from the " buffet " stigma!!!! Glad i did it!!!!!! The food here was so exceptional and abundant that i am vowing to make it a family tradition!!! I am a carnivore by nature. Could never ever be vegan. In fact most buffets i skip right over all that yuck yuck salad/ veggie stuff and hit the carving stations first thing .... Not this time!!!! In fact i woulda been happy sticking right with these amazing veggies and salads plate after plate!!! ( of course my primal nature got me to the meats eventually...just sayin') Everything from sautéed broccolini with roasted pine nuts, grilled portabella, roasted corn and red peppers, fennel fingerling carrots, marinated grilled asparagus and eggplant... Just perfectly done and so pretty to look at!!! So much more !!! The meats held their own too!!! Carved NY strip and rosemary pork loin were 2 notable mentions. The price might be a bit of a drawback 35.99 for adults and 15.99 for kids in which mine eat like little birds. But worth it for such a special occasion. Service was great for a crowded event and food lines flowed quickly with endless stunning presentations of great dishes. They have a very comfortable and quaint bar with great drinks and a wine patio outside which makes for a great adult meeting place in the summer. Definitely have a new family tradition and a newly sparked intrigue for delicious food year round!!!

I was so pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! I was treated to a lovely live pianist as I dined. While the weather was dreary and cold, this dining experience lifted my spirits! I started with a glass of their house made Sangria, upgraded my dinner salad to the Caesar and was happily enjoying my meal. When the scallops were delivered to my table I was impressed with the plate presentation. Once I tasted the meal, I was honestly blown away. The scallops were perfectly prepared, tender but done, flavorful but not overly seasoned. Green beans and cheesy grits were also fabulous! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the bartender was good - what else can you ask for? Looking forward to my next trip to Johnstown and trying this place again if I am staying at the attached Holiday Inn (which is, BTW, one of the nicest Holiday Inn properties I've seen)!

Great atmosphere, but I'll never go here to eat again. Horribly overpriced trash. Still worth showing up for adult beverages and live music.

My sister and I brought my mother for a sit down tea room experience. I shared a finger food tier with my mother. It was lacking in appearance, taste, and quality. Just a bunch of random mundane things you'd find in a dollar general and not fresh. There was basically no wait for our order. It was very quick. Waitress brought one plate for two people lol. And I had to ask for the tea list. Young girl seemed put out the moment we came in. But tried to be more polite towards the end. She never asked how we were. We stayed for about 35m. They use HT tea which I'm not a fan of and they use only one tea bag for a shared 16-24oz tea pot. My mug was a little dirty and stained. We had to ask for sugar. My sister said her Ruben sandwich was great and her ice tea was fine. Disclosure: we're all from a large city and maybe this is high quality for this little town. One of the biggest off putting part was seeing the naked hairy arm pits of a large man while trying to enjoy a special semi eloquent daughter/mother date. We dressed up a little and are not loud people. There really should be a certain dress code and volume control (large man was part of a large loud party) for a "tea room". I would not return or recommend.

A cup of very good tomato soup served in a large bowl made for a pretty plate but was not a large portion by any stretch of the imagination. Our server was very good and the place has a cozy feel to it. I just wish they'd upgrade the restroom from a oner. I'm not really sure where to start with this review…read more While visiting, some lovely locals recommended to try the Kitchen on Main as a good lunch or dinner spot. On the outside, you're greeted with plenty of outdoor patio seating in front of the restaurant and live music from an artist playing tunes. Inside is a spacious bar, lounge and woodsy interior with another room with tables and larger party seating. Since we had a little one with us, we thought more fitting to sit outside, watch the horses and carriages pass and enjoy the fresh air. We were told by the hosts that the seating in the front, though unoccupied, wasn't available, but the tables on the side (which I thought were for storage as they weren't set, cleaned or too presentable looking) were. Although a bit confused by that note, we decided to sit outside. It seemed that there was only one server working the outside area as we saw her hastily going back and forth. We were sat at 5:35pm or so. After about 10 minutes, she took our drink orders and 10 minutes later we then ordered our food. We got the drink we ordered then patiently awaited our food. A little after 6:05p, it started to sprinkle with rain outside. If you know PA, the rain can come down hard and heavy, quick. We asked our server if they had other seating available who went to check. As we were sitting on the side of the building - in an uncovered area - we went inside around 6:15p to ask if there was other seating available. Surely a rain soaked toddler and water ruined food isn't the best look for a restaurant serving its guests.. Both the younger lady hosts and a man (not sure his relation to this restaurant), John, seemed a bit perplexed by our request. He then proceeded to advise that the umbrella-covered seating in the front of the restaurant wasn't available, pulls his phone out to check the weather, notes that it doesn't say it's raining, but instead says "yeah, I don't know what that is, maybe it's a neighbor spraying a hose nearby" (while another employee says "I see the rain on the window in front of us") and doesn't really provide any solution for us to sit so we go back outside. Very confused by that interaction, when we saw our server next, we told her that we would be leaving and we'll pay the check for the one drink we ordered. Another girl came out and apologized, saying she wasn't sure why they wouldn't let us sit inside or anywhere else and proceeded to take us to a table inside. Our now hangry and somewhat sprinkled on toddler got her food, noodles with butter, at 6:20p and we got our dishes at 6:30p. The food looked decent though I can't comment on its flavor and taste of our meals as I had no appetite then. I don't know who would want to enjoy a meal there after that interaction. No apology or conversation from a manager was ever had, no items removed from the bill or a complimentary item provided to make up for the poor experience. We didn't eat much as we were quite off put but paid the bill in full. I still have no idea who the "John" guy is and what purpose he may serve there aside from the blatant disregard of guest's concerns and a poor example set in front of the younger employees. Our server and some of the other runner girls were kind, so I don't think customer service and general decency as a human is lacking from this town but this experience and this specific restaurant left that unfortunate impression. If he or they didn't want us there, I surely would have appreciated the honesty so we could spend our money and celebrate Father's Day weekend elsewhere. I don't plan on coming back and only Yelp members don't visit either. If I could tell you to avoid this restaurant at all costs, I would.

The servers and front of house workers are pleasant and eager to help. The restaurant is rather small with very little seating and a small bar. I had a group of 7 for our Supper Club and they took us shortly after opening so that they could better serve us. Our waitress was super helpful with suggestions and answered any questions that we had about the menu. She was helpful and accommodating, not to mention patient with all of our questions! We indulged in multiple appetizers, different entrées, and even dessert. Here's my review of each part of the meal: Smoked Chicken Pierogies: These pierogies were different and delicious. They were super flavorful, but they were unique and worthy of trying! Foccacia: I cannot say enough good things about their foccacia. It was perfectly soft and plump and included 3 unique dipping sauces that blew me away: red pepperonata, whipped ricotta pepper honey, and pomegranate molasses. I couldn't believe how good all of it tasted! Mustard Glazed Salmon: This dish came with butternut squash hummus & grains. The salmon was cooked perfectly and flavored well with the mustard. I didn't love the grains and the hummus was underwhelming, but it was a unique dish. Blackberry & Pumpkin Crepes: These Crepes were flavorful and delicious. The pumpkin was not overly spiced up so this was a perfect light dessert to end our meal. The blackberry Crepes weren't as flavorful but delicious and nice to try. Other people in my group had the fall lasagna, diver scallops, pub burger, and bolognese, and all dishes got rave reviews! I also had a Pumpkin Espresso Martini. The flavor was great. I was disappointed in the overly salted rim and the lack of espresso beans on top, but I'd drink it again because it was delicious overall. This place was a welcomed surprise and the flavor combinations were unique and different. This place is definitely something to talk about!
