I came from Maryland and the locals recommended it. I arranged to meet other people from out of town there and it was closed. There was a sign on the door, but nothing on the website. We walked to the Owego Kitchen and had a great breakfast. read more

Really nice staff , waitress and cook were very friendly and fast service. My only complaint is that an over medium egg should have no jelly uncooked white part of the egg and extra crispy home fries should be flipped more than a single time. It was good but would have been knocked out of the park with these fixes ! read more

my family and I had a tire blow out in Owego, and did we have an exceptional experience with these folks. they made some quick food for my wife and kids, but they also covered our bill! made sure my girls got to the local library safely while I got the van fixed. real small town hospitality. 5 stars! read more

This place is lovely. I've been going for 5 years, and here's what I love: The owner and the waitresses make an effort to remember you. They remember your favorite orders, how you like them, and sometimes you can come in and get what you want without having to ask. The eggs are incredible. I tried the eggs at the diner down the road on 17C, they were abysmal. But the eggs here at Harris Diner are always perfect, not too "eggy" in taste, but rather light and pleasant. Coffee is fresh, they have great soup, and one of the waitresses cooks some great pies, which gives you a wide dessert selection. If I had one minor complaint, the prices have gone up a little. But the service, quality of the food, ambience, and the familial interactions with Mr. Harris and his company are all worth it. Please stop by if you're traveling, you won't regret it! read more

On our road trip through the Southern Tier, we stopped off at the Harris Diner, located in the Village of Owego. There is no mistaking the sports loyalties at the Harris Diner for the NY Yankees and NY Giants (with logos on each side of the entrance). The inside of this classic diner is like a shrine dedicated to the NY Yankees and NY Giants. The walls are plastered with plenty of photos (including Babe Ruth & Mickey Mantle), newspaper articles, and memorabilia on display. This classic diner is pretty cozy with a long lunch counter with open kitchen/grill, and a long row of booths. The bathrooms in the back are very small with a common sink outside the bathroom stalls. The menu offerings include typical breakfast fare (eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, etc), hot & cold sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, soups, salads, sides, and homemade desserts. The prices here are pretty reasonable, many items under $6 and most of the breakfast specials include coffee. We arrived here around 10:15AM on a typical Wednesday and sat ourselves in a booth, menu at the table. We were offered coffee ($1.25) shortly after we sat down. The coffee was just right. The food we had was pretty good. I had a breakfast special: 1 egg (scrambled/broken), grilled homefries (fresh cut), grilled sausage patty. buttered white toast, and coffee ($3.80). My friend decided to order lunch and enjoyed a BLT ($3.05) and a Tossed Salad ($2.40) in a small wood bowl. The check for 2 people came out to $10.50 with tax and before tip. Note, we were charged $4.25 for the breakfast special instead of $3.80, but not charged for the ala carte $1.25 coffee. All set! The service was good and prompt. We were also given refills/topoffs on the coffee, which was much appreciated since we still had a long day of driving, well beyond Jamestown. Overall, the Harris Diner is a pretty awesome place to go for the "best breakfast in town," lunch, and good coffee, especially if you're a diehard NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. We were visiting from out of town and came across this cute little diner in the little town of Owego. The walls were covered in Yankee memorabilia and it had such a small town vibe. The cook was making all the food right behind the bar and we could watch everything being made. The food itself was delicious and really had that home made feel to it. The eggs were fluffy and thin & the home fries were crispy and flavorful. The staff was friendly and welcoming as well. We are off to a great start for our weekend getaway! read more

Absolutely a gem! Hometown atmosphere, welcoming staff, and great food. Visiting from Des Moines Iowa and they (the staff and regular customers) made me feel like one of the regulars. I had the pleasure of eating here 3 years ago when I was in Owego. I happened to be there again this week so I had to make another visit. I knew a year ago that I'd be in that area and have been looking forward to since then. My group and I were there for breakfast. The food was terrific. Everything is scratch made with love, care, and pride. I particularly enjoyed the corned beef hash which was not out of a can. The Harris Diner is totally "Old School" with a quaint hometown look and feel. I wanted to bring the entire place and staff home to my town so I could enjoy them on a regular basis. read more

Food is ok, nothing to write home about. Decent prices. Service varies. If you are a regular, you get treated like royalty. It was my first time there & my 2 year old daughter & I were pretty much ignored, very minimal service. I also got massive diarrhea about a half hour after. Definitely won't be going back! read more

it's very rare that I rate a diner under 3 stars but this place was very disappointing, most things I had seemed pretty half-assed. The vibes are pretty cool, especially if you're a yankees fan (I'm a mets fan though, oops). it has a worn in feel to it but it's clean and cozy. the service was decent, not the best but not awful. the food was a let-down though. the pancakes were small, which is a huge pet peeve of mine, at a diner pancakes should be plate sized! I had a short stack and they definitely came up short, each cake was maybe 5 to 6 inches in diameter. they were ok by themselves but they served margarine instead of real butter and it definitely cheapened the flavor, and the syrup seemed really cheap too. maybe that's why they serve them small, no one can stomach them so why waste product? and what's this I hear about homemade toast here? I saw a loaf of store bought pre-sliced white bread in the kitchen and I could tell that it's what my toast was made of, it seemed super cheap in quality. the bacon was actually decent but the home fries were lacking flavor and they were unevenly cooked, and the scrambled eggs were a joke. most places will take the eggs and scramble them and then dump them on the griddle and cook them. Harris Diner must crack the eggs directly on the griddle and then "scramble" them, the whites and the yolks did not mix together and it ruined the dish for me. yuck. I definitely won't be coming back. River Rock is soooo much better. read more
