We ordered and paid at the counter and they brought the food to our table. We ordered three pick-two combo. The sandwiches were average. The chili had way too much chili powder as that's all i could taste. No one finished their chili because of it. The Italian chicken trio soup was too acidy. The corn muffins were cold. We stopped here for a morning coffee and a sandwich on a road-trip. All were excellent. The place has an interesting clean interior and a nice atmosphere, and it's located on a short side street in a charming town overlooking a river. It would be a good spot to write your first or next novel. There were a few quiet individual in there who looked like regulars, one of them was working with a laptop and may have been doing just that. Employees looked like good people. read more

Yum! We came to the area for a fall getaway and this had popped up on my wife's Facebook page. A quick look on Yelp and we had our lunch spot picked for us. We had the Gobbler sandwich, breakfast sandwich and roast beef. Turkey and stuffing soup and a cup of the tomato rounded it all out. Delicious food and great service. My husband and I frequently stop here on our way to Ithaca, NY. They're one of the only businesses (it seems) that are consistently open in that area of Owego. Stopped in for lunch on a recent Sunday, based largely on reviews from Yelp. We had just finished a couple of hours of "antiquing" at the local emporium and wanted a bite before we left town. The Owego Kitchen did not disappoint. Friendly and attentive staff from start to finish. We placed our orders at the counter and sat at one of several tables available. Our food was brought out within minutes and it was delicious. The special Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Panini, Homemade cinnamon roll and the Maple Egg Melt were happily consumed by all. This is my favourite lunch spot in Owego! My go-to sandwich is the Not Your Mom's Tuna Salad, which has a tangy bite that sets it apart from the usual tuna salad, but everything I've tried has been good. The desserts are amazing - they have a rotating selection of which I've tried dulce de leche cheesecake, a peanut butter brownie, and an apple cinnamon crumb cake. They also have a selection of iced coffee and sometimes tea. Normally I prefer tea to coffee but on my latest visit they didn't have any teas available so I tried the salted caramel iced coffee and was impressed with the clean, smooth flavour. I've driven by this town so many times and finally decided to stop and walk around. Found this place and it seemed surprisingly hipster given the area. They had kombucha on tap to fill growlers. And a nice assortment of cold brew coffees and iced teas available. I decided to try the "Italian Egg Sandwich" ($5.79), which was interesting and tasted like a Chicago hot Italian beef sandwich, except the beef was actually bacon. I guess it's the hot pepper relish that was giving it that flavor. It had potential, although there was an aftertaste I just couldn't get away from. Every bite had this subtle sourness, almost like something was rancid. There was never a bite that didn't have it. I tried the relish itself and it wasn't that. It might have been the ciabatta being a bit stale. It might have been the griddle they use having burned a bit of bacon fat and resulting in everything cooked on it having the taste of rancid oil on it. I'm not sure, but it really ruined the sandwich. I also had an apple pastry that was pretty good. The apple filling tasted great and had a nice cinnamon flavor to it that was tastefully done. The crust could have been a bit more crispy. The best thing I had here was the "Jamaican Me Crazy" iced coffee from the self-serve coffee area. I assume it was cold brew, since the flavor was so clean. They were able to bring out all the great flavors of the coffee without any of the acidity. I would definitely try this place again next time I'm driving through and hope the strange aftertaste of that breakfast sandwich was a one-time thing. read more

Very disappointed with the lack of knowledge and unwillingness of staff to accommodate a dairy allergy on Friday, June 23rd. Our son has anaphylaxis reactions to dairy and nuts. Prior to visiting this establishment, I called and inquired about their ability to accommodate our son's allergies for breakfast. The representative I spoke with reassured us they could accommodate us. While he was unsure about the bagel ingredients, he was confident the gluten-free rolls were also dairy free. When we arrived, we again informed the staff of our son's allergies and were told he could order an egg and bacon sandwich on a roll. We placed our orders for 4 people and while waiting at the counter, the manager/cook mentioned to my husband that he could not guarantee a dairy-free meal for our son. He continued to say that while he cooks with oil, he had been using butter on the griddle all morning. We asked if he could wipe the area of the griddle down before cooking our son's eggs and was told he would not as he was "cooking for everyone." Our meals and drinks were already paid for so we had to decide between making our son watch us all eat before we could find a place for him to eat separately or request a refund since they refused to accommodate all of us and eat elsewhere. The most frustrating and disappointing aspects of our experience with Owego Kitchen were: (1) We called ahead, informed them our of special needs for allergies and were assured they could accommodate us. (2) When we arrived, we again confirmed they had at least one dairy and nut free breakfast option. (3) Family living in the Owego area had raved about this establishment and assured us they were very customer-service driven and accommodating and would make sure our son's meal was safe for him. (4) The cook/manager was very dismissive towards us and treated us as if we were an inconvenience for him which only made my son feel like it was his fault we had to leave (something we work very hard to avoid, which is why we call ahead!). (5) We had to call family and let them know they would need to meet us elsewhere for breakfast as our son would not be able to eat at the Owego Kitchen. We ended up requesting and receiving a full refund. We met our family at River Rock Diner in Owego. We HIGHLY recommend RIVER ROCK DINER if you have someone with food allergies. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and their food was delicious!! read more

Had the perfect amount of Bree cheese and i loved that they put the honey mustard dressing on the side it made it much easier to eat when traveling and it was so sweet for honey mustard ! I could only eat a little more than half because the serving size was so much. If what you order comes with a side option opt for their pasta salad it was delicious! My husband got the tuna sandwich that again was large and he ate a little more than half it was served on ciabatta bread and delicious just huge serving! I do wish they offered kids meals my 5 year old didn't want a large sandwich like we had and they didn't have kids meals so we just opted in for a bagel with cream cheese since they served their breakfast all day. read more

Cool locally owned dinner. They serve breakfast and lunch, but not open for dinner. I had the BELT (bacon, egg salad, lettuce, tomato) sandwich, with a side of macaroni salad. The bread was fresh and toasted perfectly, bacon fried just right, and veggies fresh and crisp. The egg salad though was the highlight. Delicious. Not sure I can eat a plain BLT again. The mac salad is made in house and delicious. My daughter had the creamy pesto chicken sandwich and loved it. They offer a tea bar with various flavored ice teas, mango lemonade, and cold brewed ice tea. They have a fridge with a variety of their items available to go. Great sandwiches. Worst complaint is that there isn't enough seating. They have a display in the center of the dining area that could be removed to make room for more tables. If you show up hoping to find a place to sit and eat, you could be out of luck and end up eating in your car. But the food is worth the visit.
