We came here to Harris Ranch resort restaurants, country store, barbecue to pick up meats. The barbecue location for Harris is in the Shell gas station. The country store and restaurant is in the main entrance with the hotel located in the next building, it is off the five freeway bring a cooler if you're planning to buy a bunch of meat I was very surprised for the cost of the two filet mignon's and one ribeye bone in it was less that I had expected to pay

This is a must stop for me when traveling these parts on Interstate 5. This stretch is pretty desolate with scattered towns set off from the Interstate. So clean , relaxing places to stop are few and far between. Harris Ranch has 3 main areas: (a) a gas station with a mini mart and BBQ to go counter, EV chargers, and public restrooms; (b) main enclosed building has this Country Store, Prime Steakhouse, Ranch restaurant, Horse Shoe Lounge Bar, and public restrooms. In the summer with triple digits, that air conditioning in the main building is sweet relief. Tesla chargers are outside the main building Luv that the parking lot has shade trees and grassy lawn that even your dogs can take a potty break; and (c) the hotel is a separate complex towards the east parking lot. I usually stop here to use the restrooms in the main building. The restrooms are open to the public and are clean and well maintained. And yes, I also stop in to check out the Country Store. They sell gifts, home decor, boutique clothing, local wines, and artisanal snacks. One man's kitsch is another man's treasures. Also within the shop is a chocolate confection counter, a meat counter selling vacuum packed Harris Ranch meats, and a bakery counter selling cookies, pastries, cakes and pies. The chocolate counter and bakery counter are the reasons I drop into the store. There is a gluten free pecan drop cookie that is sooo delicious, and I always buy one. But on this particular visit, it was sold out already for the day. Not surprising since that is the only gluten free bakery item and they are fantastic tasting...pecan, buttery, and brown sugar goodness. I can eat gluten and eaten my fair share of baked goodies from here, all so good.

Very charming store, with outlandish prices! I could easily give this visual treat of a shop four and a half to five stars, but my wallet is still smoking four days later thinking about what we bought and what we received for the price paid. A simple example - I use saucer-sized plates on our home coffee bar to hold the mugs while I'm doctoring them up with cream and sweetener. They are decorative ones that I change out seasonally. I've collected a few different sets over the years, often at a popular housewares store. I can usually get a set of four for $9.99 or $11.99. At the Harris Ranch Country Store, one small decorative plate was $12.99. Each. So a group of four would be $52?! They weren't that cute. Well, they were adorable, but not a realistic price. While I briefly wandered through, Dear Hubby was purchasing a couple of pastries for himself, and a marshmallow krispies treat for me. His two sweet pastries came to over $15 (enough for at least a half dozen at the local donut shop), and my S'Mores treat (imported all the way from Virginia) was $8.50. Good grief! This is the definition of Highway Robbery! Our first clue should have been that the price of regular gas at their station was $5.79 when we had paid $4.19 before we left SoCal. That should have prepared me for the prices at the Country Store. I can just imagine what they're charging for meal in the restaurant. Yeah, I get it, out in the middle of nowhere, inflation, yada yada. Still, there's taking advantage of a captive audience. So there you go. . .

This place has a fresh meat counter, with freshly baked cookies of all variety, and a candy shop for your sweet tooth. I like the nostalgic shop with condiments and kitchen items. The perfect bathroom stop between Sacramento and Los Angeles off of Interstate 5.

Took a road trip and had a pit stop here since it gave me an opportunity to stretch my legs. The general areas are open to the public so I grabbed a slice of cheesecake and apricot pastry from their bakery and ate it in the patio area. The staff was friendly and helpful and helped open the doors to the patio space so we could enjoy the pastry and dessert! The pastry was good and the cheesecake was ny style which meant it was dense so I only took a few bites since I didn't want to calorie overload while doing a longer drive. It was good though! Worth the stop in to check out this little oasis in along the road trip

When we stop for breakfast I always go to this gift store. It never disappoints, so many beautiful gifts. Currently (November ) all Christmas. Was a little disappointed but bought 3 by gifts and a couple of items for me. Everyone was very helpful.

No fuel , no signage prior to pulling in. This used to be a place you could count of for Fuel and Food

Don't count on being able to buy Diesel here! I stopped in October and pumps were being "serviced" Tried again today, same kind of BS response from the cashier. Used to be able to count on getting No2 Diesel here

At first, thought the express bbq was located here. But asked the worker and they said it's across the street at Shell. The staff were nice. They sell bakery goods, fudge/chocolates. A good pit stop on your road trip.

I love fruit tarts, and go to bakery all over when I travel and get a fruit tart. These fruit tarts are amazing. There's a shortbread base that is buttery and flaky. The filling is light and creamy and beautifully topped with fruit and glaze. I don't know where they get their fruit tarts if they make it there or if they source it somewhere else but I would definitely come back for these fruit tarts in a heartbeat. The price was about seven dollars. I cannot believe that there aren't more reviews about their fruit tart. I also bought cookies, white chocolate, and macadamia, which were very good. I will stop here again next time.

Bakery was slim Pickens-but this case was plentiful

We love stopping here for potty break, gassing up, and finding greatness at the country store. It's decorated beautifully for Christmas.

We usually stop here Everytime we travel to LA. Our favorite spot to eat and grab our snacks. But, today one cashier name Nicole gave us an attitude. She knew we spend so much money for our trip and didn't even offer any bag. I asked for one bag she threw the bag on the counter. Not very nice. I wish the #owner can see that behavior of this employee. You don't like your job quit! No reason to give anybody attitude. No hello or thank you. #owner #corporate #supervisor you might need to train that employee of yours better!

Harris Ranch? Just follow the 10,000 Teslas getting off the 5 Freeway at the Harris Ranch exit, as this is the mid-way point between LA and the Bay Area, billed as one of the biggest Tesla charging stations in the world. But even lowly non-Tesla owners like me can enjoy California's most famous "truck stop." It's beautiful by the way. The Harris family sold their beef operation in 2019, so you will not see the 100,000 cattle grazing around like the old days. Instead, it's manicured grounds leading to those Tesla stations, and then on to the Harris complex of hotel rooms, three restaurants, and the jaw-dropping "country store," a combination of bakery, deli, butcher and tons of stuff, from jewelry to clothing to artwork. Yes, I got a pillow. You are limited only by your wallet, which must open widely. After lunch and using their famously clean restrooms (no purchase required), it's a great place to get your latte and baked goods to-go for the next three hours of your trip up north, or down south. They have full-sized cakes to bring to where-ever you're going next; the carrot cake alone is worth stopping for, along with cookies for the road. Also a huge wine selection. The shop reminds me of our California's "other" highway's most famous stop, San Luis Obispo's Madonna Inn off the 101. Both give you something to look forward to, until Elon invents flying cars. Or has he already?

Fun store with lots of goodies! Harris Ranch is a must stop for your drive to/ from NorCal to-from SoCal. Stop here for their clean clean clean restrooms, their country store for a cup of coffee, yummy cookies, awesome cakes, fresh and flavorful steaks, or their many cool souvenir items. The HR Country Store is a fun place to browse or visit. Also - great food at any of their 3 restaurants too!

    Barbecues. Tri-tip and rib roasts.

Ask the Community - Harris Ranch Country Store

Will they pack fresh meat to go, so that it'll make it home safely and I can enjoy when I get home?

Yes, they pack it in reusable ice packs. We buy it every time we pass through.

Do they sell beef jerky? If so, how much and what kind?

Yes, they've raised the price to $44.99/lb as of 3/19/23. They only have one kind made of their reserve beef. Really good, but the price is too steep now.

Can I bring my dogs? They are small dogs?

I have seen people bring their dogs. I believe they are not allowed in the store unless they are service animals. There is seating outside and grassy areas too.

I would give these peeps 5+, except for one thing, they're tough to give money to! Let me…read moreexplain... we live about 90 miles from S&S, which used to be "J&R Natural Meat and Sausage." Whenever we've historically been in (Paso) town, we try to stock up on their cheddar-jalapeno pork sausage. Folks, the sausage is just fantastic after cooked over an open flame/coal fire. We also relied heavily on J&R Natural Meat and Sausage customer service to resupply us via overnight mail. We did these methods of resupply for years and never had a problem. Then Sinton & Sons took over. We ran out of our supply of cheddar-jalapeno sausage, and I called S&S up. I was assured that the same recipe was being performed for the sausage and that mail order would continue to NOT be an issue under the new ownership. I ordered a small batch of about 5-6 packets, just in case quality had dropped. Days went by and I saw my payment method had not been charged... I called back. Whoops, sorry, we found the order request, it will be handled ASAP I was told. Days pass, no charge. Another call. Whoops! We're NOW out of shipping boxes! We've got the order, and as soon as the boxes come, it will go out ASAP! Days pass, no charge, no box of sausages. Luck would have it we needed to make a trip to Paso anyway, so off to S&S Wifey and I went. Ambiance: I was a little worried when I saw the "J&R Natural Meat and Sausage" was still up outside, and a temporary banner for Sinton & Sons was above the door..... we went inside and found stocked meat cabinets, although a few less choices than before when it was J&R's. But then we found our go-to cheddar-jalapeno and bought some to-go. I've subsequently cooked a couple of them up and the good news is that the sausage is still on-point! We bought a fabulous tri-tip as well, and all the supplies from S&S cooked up nicely and tasted great! I'm hopeful they'll square away their over the phone/remote customer service corrected so we can give them money for more good stuff soon!

Good selection of meats. Bought one of the best ribeyes I've had in a long time. Great staff tooread more
