Came here for tacos on a Friday for dinner. There was a line to order. Got tacos de costillas, carnitas, and chorizo. $2.98 each. We ordered 9 tacos but got charged for 12, so just pay attention at check out. Costillas were the best, good flavor and not dry. There are a few tables but ambiance is mostly takeout. Tres Agaves taqueria! Haven't tried the Paleteria yet (paleteria is right next door). Don't let the looks of this place fool you! This is a great spot to pick up street tacos, burritos, quesadillas and even nachos etc. The meat is fresh and chopped right in front of you. They are very generous with their portions. The salsa is also very good. The lunch line flows pretty quickly and the employees are fast and friendly. Prices also are reasonable. read more

Driving North on the 5 it was lunch time on the road trip to the bay area and there are limited dining options. I see the Harrah's Ranch restaurant and other fast food options and think hmm... Is there anything better on Yelp? Yes, this taco place looks good. The only downfall is this restaurant is not near the 5 freeway so it was a nice 15 or 20 minutes detour. So don't go here if you are in a hurry. The positive is that the drive is fun it's curve and clear like a Top Gear road test video. Only I wish I was getting paid, had a sweet sports car, and no cops around. It would be a lot more fun that way. It's always a good sign when you walk into a restaurant and you hear knifes chopping roasted meat. It is time's like these that make me glad I'm not a vegan. I love the sound of chopping grass and un edible dog crap said no one ever! I ordered the Tripas, Lengua, and Asada tacos. I love fried Tripas and this place didn't disappoint. Asada was ok. I am glad I found this place. It's a good sign when my group was the only non Latinos patrons. It's not your standard Chipotle or Some Grill place the setting feels more authentic. It's similar to the tacos I tasted in Mexico but with better quality meat. I'm not sure if I will go again because I usually try o drive quickly between LA to the Bay. I wish the restaurant was near the 5. Heading south bound on the 5 and taking the exit before Harrah's Ranch is faster and more direct route. I would only stop by if you need a break from driving and want to stop for lunch. I'm not sure I would recommend going for dinner since the drive has no street lamps and maybe tricky for some people to drive at night. TL:DR - The Torta Cubana is very good and LOADED with meat. - The al pastor is very tender and rich in flavor - The horchata is very well made ------------------------------------- Midday while I was driving along I5 from San Jose to LA, I drove 15 miles off an exit to this gem. I was very turned off when my GPS told me that this place is 15 miles from the freeway, but I do not regret a single bit making the decision to drive here. This place definitely has one of the BEST tortas that I have ever eaten. I got the Torta Cubana with al pastor and it was LOADED with meat and a fair amount of avocado. The meat was very flavorful and all the elements within the sandwich just added another layer of flavor. For me, they used a really cheap hot dog which I didn't really care for, but the Al Pastor still held it's flavor against the hot dog. My only complaint would be that since the bread is very soft and the elements are juicy, I wish the outside of the bread was toasted/grilled to add a slight crunch when I bite into the sandwich. This place also has a really well made Horchata. In this day and age, every Mexican restaurant is switching to Horchata flavored horchata, but I believe their horchata is still made traditionally. I would love to come back to this place if I do pass this area again! read more

When walking in, all you see is old tables and chairs, the cartons of the sodas, and big fans. When ordering is like you are ordering from those taco stands in the streets. Don't be fooled about what I just wrote because what matters is how good the tacos were. I tried the carne asada, cabeza, lengua, and tripas, and to me they were sooo good. They had flavor and the tacos were full of meat. I normally eat 4 tacos. So I ordered 4 and was only able to eat 2 because how big they were. Honestly it was a very good hole in the wall of Coalinga. A family we know just moved here and had asked to try it which wasn't bad at all. This place has yet to disappoint. It's a small little 24 hr gem! Out here everything closes at like 9pm so if you have a late night craving, other than this place you really are out of luck. Anyway, they have every choice of meat you can think of. They have good beans & rice and no matter what you order it's gonna be good. They have their moments where they run out of stuff or you might not get the freshest ingredients but overall we've never been disappointed. The juice place attached to it is really good too! Went in to this establishment to order a smoothie (jugo natural) and shaved ice (raspado). Their menu showed both options, but when I placed my order I was informed in a dismissive manner by a young lady behind the counter that they neither had smoothies nor lemon flavored raspados. I recommended they update their menu and the employee stated she wasn't in charge of that. I also encouraged her to work on her customer service skills due to her dismissiveness and somewhat rudeness when I placed my order. She proceeded to turn her back as I spoke to her and I knew she could care less about what I was saying. I decided to take a picture of their menu to post a review on Yelp and the two employees simply started laughing. This was a reflection of their immaturity and lack of professionalism. Fortunately, I spoke to another employee of the Tres Agaves restaurant to inquire of who was managing the paleteria and she agreed that the young employees servicing that area are ill prepared. She encouraged me to return in the morning and speak to the owner which I will do. I have ordered several times from the actual restaurant and have never encountered bad customer service, quite the contrary. The woman working the register is always nice and helpful. This is my favorite taco place. The only drawback is that it's 2 hours away from house in Bakersfield. Although, it's definitely worth the drive. I work in Coalinga often and I make sure to plan my day there around stopping by Tres Agaves for some tacos. They have a huge selection of meat choices including carne asada, lengua, cabesa, and tripas. My favorite is either the cabesa or tripas. They give you more meat than any other taco place that I've been to and it all has great flavor. Their food is always consistent and they are very friendly and helpful. Came here to get out of the highway sea of subways and 7-11s. It's only 10min from the highway and hides some serious meat crave satisfying muscle. I live here and would go after work once in awhile. I get the same thing every time then all of a sudden today they don't sell wet burritos. ??? I've been eating them for months yet this man swears they don't sell them. So I'm done with them because idk what they're issues are but I'm not with the funny business.
