This is a nice and clean Harris Teeter. The produce section typically has fresh produce and a nice variety. It would be nice if they had more organic fruit and veggie options. They have a nice selection of international foods and different types of sauces. The meat section is not the best, expensive prices for meat that I would not describe as high quality. They do have a good selection of non-dairy milks, along with creamer and yogurt made with at least one of those milks. read more

I love this Harris Teeter!! I always save a nice amount of money here and with all the sales and deals they basically give you groceries! During their opening week I received 10% off my total bill and who can turn down sales like buy 2 jars of spaghetti sauce and get 3 free! I just signed up for e-Vic so I'm anxious to see the savings there as well. I filled and picked up a prescription here today and the pharmacist informed me that one of my medications were free! Not only that but I also got $20 added to my VIC card to use the next time I buy groceries. It doesn't stop there because I'm also transferring a prescription from another pharmacy here (they do the transferring) and will get another $20 added to my VIC card! #winning! How can you not save money here?! The store is nicely stocked, clean, and with a really nice produce selection to include organic foods. The staff is also very friendly, patient and eager to help. I haven't checked out the hot bar or pizza yet but I'm sure I will very soon. I like shopping here more than at Shoppers, which is closer to me, because everything is fresher. However, there are some areas where HT could use serious improvements. #1 is the Deli counter. I dread shopping on the weekends because my husband loves his deli meat and getting served takes a minimum of 15 minutes. This Sunday they ran out of BOTH sale meats at 9AM on Sunday! Prime shopping day. (Sweet sliced ham / some turkey - both Boar's Head) and there was a big line and they still took 10 minutes to slice the first pound of meat. The second one, the deli guy just left and went somewhere in the middle of my order and didn't return for 5 minutes - no explanation. I've worked at a major supermarket before and the deli people are sooo quick! So I don't know what's going on here. They need additional training and certainly some customer service classes. Most times I avoid the counter and buy the prepackaged meats. Though the prices are way more expensive than Trader Joes (my fave market), I can't justify driving that far for groceries, so I eat the larger bill. For instance, a dozen large organic eggs are $3.99+ at HT, but $1.99 at TJ. A 2lb bag (small) of brussell sprouts is $7.99!!!! at HT, and $1.99 at TJ. Are they made of gold? They aren't even organic. Harris Teeter does seem to have more employees in general, which means the lines are much shorter than Shoppers. HT does frequently run out of carts at the front of the store, which means slogging outside to get a cart sometimes. I would avoid the Starbucks in store - the wait is very long, they have one employee and the coffee always tastes 'burnt' for some reason. Maybe I will go back to shopping at Trader Joes. Nice grocery store, comparable to Kroger, little pricey if you dont use your rewards card (VIC Card), but great selection of fresh foods as well. Only a 4 star rating from me due to lack of open checkout stations. A few times weve been heading toward a checkout and they shut their light off and close the station off, im not sure if its manning or people just wanting their breaks but for as much as it happens, to me thats bad business. There should always be adequate checkout since thats how your making your money. Sometimes we go somewhere else if we know we need to get in and out with the kids, but Harris Teeter def has some high quality product. read more

This place is grocery store heaven. I've never had such a pleasurable shopping experience. And Mohammad the butcher was super helpful! Why haven't I been here before? The checkout is a nightmare. They do not have enough cashiers. Otherwise, it's a mediocre Harris Teeter at best.

This was my first and last visit to this store. Unaware of their checkout method, I pushed my cart behind a customer at a register. "The line isn't there" snapped the cashier. Silence. Okay. "This is my first time at your store," I said. "Where is the line?" "You line up on the cashier side," she snapped again. Wow, way to welcome a new customer - acting like you're doing me a favor telling me how the store works. read more

Nice neighborhood grocery store with a great selection of products and it's decorated beautifully which was the reason why it drew me in. When I first started shopping there I didn't buy any produce, I would get it from Walmart since it's a little cheaper. Eventually I did start purchasing produce from Harris teeter because the market is much closer to my house and I'm not always in the mood to deal with the ghetto behavior at Walmart. Well apparently Harris teeter doesn't check the expiration dates on their perishables very often and more than a few times I brought home already expired food. I'm much more careful now and check everything I buy from there and now I do have to go back to Walmart because the items I buy are almost always expired or close to it. Now I rarely go there because I don't want to go and get disappointed, Harris teeter please get it together. read more

I love Harris Teeters especially when they have Super Double coupon days. As a couponer this store has to be one of my favorites. They only double up to $.99 but on Super Double days it's up to $2. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean and I do believe this is a fairly new HT. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because it seems they arnt alwasy fully stocked and I have to continuously get rainchecks. read more

I kvetched and they listened, well Michael (HT's Assistant Manager) listened, apologized and tried to rectify the situation. I shopped for those missing "said" items from his store, which were rang up as "free," to include my dinner - a roast beef sandwich and a bottle of grapefruit juice. Michael assured me that those rude employees would be retrained on customer service ethics - the one's that HT prides themselves in having. This is by far my favorite grocery store to go to in the Laurel and Beltsville area. It's clean, affordable, and has a friendly staff. I can always count on them to have bargains and sales on most of the items on my shopping list. The only downside, is their limited wild caught seafood section and organic meats. read more

This location is awe-some! The staff is very courtesy and just overall pleasant. I have yet to have a bad experience. The healthy food selection is pretty decent. It's hard to find a selection of healthy food in Laurel. I'm definitely happy that Harris Teeter made it's way here. read more

One of the employees treated me like I was stealing! I got off work late stopped by to pick up a few things on my way home. I didn't get a cart but I got too many things to carry so I used the reusable bags to put my things in on the way to the register. She was rude and discriminated against me for no reason what so ever. Won't be going back to this store. I'd rather get my groceries elsewhere. read more

Nice selection but they never have enough cashiers. The self pay line is always long and 1-2 other cashiers so it takes a long time time get out of there. I only go there when I need something specific because of the length of time it takes to get through the lines. Some things are pricey bless they are on sale read more

Five stars for the guy who went and got yogurt from the back room and the gal the reminded me not to forget to go the deli. Five stars for the gal that checked me out and all the other staffers who spoke kindly in passing. No stars for the two meat counter guys that were too busy talking about their personal lives to notice I needed help. One finally turned around and indicated my cart and I were in his way as he walked by me - the other responded "no" when I asked if they had a certain cut of meat. I'll return, the good outweighs the bad and the managers clearly understand the importance of excellent customer service. read more

Very awesome supermarket. Ever since they opened, they mail a $10 off $50 every week. It's worth the drive over. The produce section has a huge selection and I look forward to the free orange slices when you walk in the door. They have fun carts for my toddler and the free samples in the store keep him happy. The bakery is very good, meat has a good selection, and the frozen aisles are laid out very attractively. It makes it easy to shop. Also love the customer with child parking! read more

These people are amazing. I got upset tonight cuz some of the produce from our online order was rotten, so I called the store and explained to the manager that I have a broken ankle & my husband is doing EVERYTHING for our family right now -- he doesn't have time to go back to the store and exchange items. The manager literally had fresh produce delivered to our house within the hour. Incredible! Now, I'm not saying that Harris Teeter will do this for anybody with a complaint, but I just had to share. Harris Teeter offers specials to Vic members on Mondays. Any kind of pizza is priced @ $7.99. Not all markets offer fresh pizza, check before ordering. In fact, it would be wise to order online with their app. Quicker and easier. We ordered a barbecue chicken pizza & vegetable pizza. The pizzas were tasty, but a little too cheesy. The employee that took my order was not very friendly and appeared to be annoyed. She said the pizzas would take 30 minutes. I returned in about 35 minutes (I like hot pizza) and the employee totally ignored me. Another young lady kept yelling at her to stop working and help her with balloons. They were friendly towards each other, and made small talk. All while I stood there waiting to know the status of the pizzas. She looked at me with disdain and informed me that it would be another 10 minutes. I didn't particularly care for her attitude. In fact, this is the second time I've been to this Harris Teeter and experienced the same rude service from the same employee. I will NOT be going back. The Harris Teeter in Bethesda off of Woodard Road offers exceptional service and the pizzas are perfect. read more

Rarely can I go In and find everything I need. The workers in the deli department need lessons on proper food handling.

The food is of good quality, and the prices are high but expected. However it just seems like the service and management at this store (possibly different from other HT locations) isn't very good. After going here several times a week for a couple months, I now gladly take my money to a store with slightly lower quality food (the Giant down the street) but that treats customers better. Here's why: 1) The checkout lines at this HT are horrible. After a certain time in the evenings they close the 4 self checkout machines, and usually have just a single cashier (while other associates just roam the store). I have seen times where this single line has 30+ people in it, literally the lines stretched all the way through the isle behind it ! It was ridiculous. Meanwhile I watched associates aware of this, and just strolling around the store. I've seen this play out several times. 2) The self-checkout machines are very poor. They're not really "self" checkouts, since they need an associate micro-managing things in the background at her master computer. They're quite slow, and like I said above due to their need for constant supervision they close them down at night when they are short staffed. 3) I've encountered some rude behavior from some of the associates themselves, and seen it play out with other customers. It appears they treat you okay until you make a mistake or ask them to go out of their way to do something. It feels like you're a visitor in their house inconveniencing them, not a paying customer at a retail store. 4) Their discount/loyalty card policies are dangerous (This may be a company wide issue). I went to apply for a VIC card, and the associate asked for my Driver's License and got ready to SCAN IT WITH A PHOTO COPIER and SAVE IT IN THEIR DATABASE!!!! This is mind blowing. As someone who works in IT, with database security, this is one of the most riskiest things a company can do in today's world. NO ONE can provide security of data, so you should only store what is needed. And their excuse of using it to prohibit coupon fraud is garbage - use a phone number, a street address, or an email address like every other retail store in the world. There's no reason a grocery store should have a database full of customers' driver's license photos. It's inexcusable, and when a data leak or misuse eventually does happen, it will compromise the safety of those blindly loyal customers and probably damage the company as they try to defend this archaic policy from lawsuits. read more

I love Harris Teeter - but not the one in Laurel. It is HORRIBLE to shop here. The Columbia store is always stocked and the customer service is impeccable. In Laurel, the shelves constantly look picked over. The customer service is HORRIFIC. Tonight the young lady waiting on me called a customer crazy and a pain in the ass to another employee - while she is waiting on me. The cashier a few rows over yelled at multiple customers - literally nasty and yelled - because they didn't know where to line up. There was about 8 customers in line before they opened another check out. The manager's name tag said "Valentine" - totally useless. He watched the customers line up and just stood behind the customer service desk. When he finally came out, he witnessed the interactions of "Mary" yelling at the customers and did NOTHING about it. Absolutely horrible. If the general manager of the store reads this, start looking at the front end tapes around 8:50-8:55 pm this evening. You will see what I'm talking about. read more

I work in Rockville and frequent the HT there but since I live closer to Laurel decided to try that location. First off I ordered a pizza online, got there went to the bakery to ask where to get the pizza since I did not see the pizza section the employee there then said "just a few minutes I am talking to my aunt and continued his conversion. Okkkaay. Got to the pizza section, pizza was not ready even though the text message said it was. Alright,told it was going to be another 10 mins,decided to order another one since I was going to have to wait anyways was told that would be 15 mins. Went back 20 mins later told that there was a lot of orders and she was about to start on it then. So what happened to the 20 mins? It seemed that the person working was special needs and maybe needed someone there to supervise her and maybe to keep up with all of the online orders, Needless to say I left without any pizzas. Lesson learned I will order from the Rockville location as their customer service is always A1 with attentive, knowledgable staff. Laurel location needs some work I will not be going there again but will stick with the Rockville locale. It is sad to see how good places can fail based on the poor qualities of the employes hired with no proper training on customer service. read more

Nice overall experience and great location but Ive had issues with the freshness of the food. Ive had to return a few items because of this. A few of the cashiers are very unpleasant and I avoid them if possible. They have a nice variety of items though and we will continue to shop here for now. read more

Ever since they opened this has been my go to place for lunch! Their sub shop is beyond amazing and the store is always well kept!
