We had a great dinner here with friends last week. The BBQ was very good, as were the sides. We also enjoyed our cocktails. I enjoyed trying the sauces but I wish they had a better/more sanitary way of dispensing them. Who knows how many hands had touched those screw tops. I wish this restaurant was closer to home! My first time eating in the dining room at Klobys. There is a cute space where you can watch television in a semi-private area. The only drawback is the table is low, it looks more like a coffee table. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with fries, my dining companions ordered the black and blue burger and salmon with brussel sprouts. Everyone enjoyed their meal and my buffalo chicken wrap tasted just right with enough ranch dressing. A great selection of beers on tap. We had a great dinner. I'm not mad at Kolby's it was my first time in and had mixed feelings. I'm thinking it could have been an off day which is why I'll certainly try them out again. It was Sunday afternoon with only one sever who also happened to be the bartender. She was still getting around and making sure her tables were good, but it did cause some delays. As for the food, mixed feelings. A few items were great and others just okay. The catfish fingers were a hit for the entire table. Nice portion, perfectly fried and seasoned. Just yummy! The wings were a bit disappointing. They were overcooked and dry. Same with the ribs. The sides were just okay as well. Collards and Mac both lacked flavor. However, the fries were delish! Cool spot to come in and watch the games and eat bbq. Seems like it's been around for a while. Good old local bbq spot. Will try again. Hopefully a better experience with the food. read more

Somewhat midscale BBQ. The portions aren't huge, and the price reflects it being in a bit of a pricier area, so don't go hear expecting pit beef in a strip club parking lot. This is suburban BBQ. I got the three meat combo meal along with an order of wings plus an extra side. I split this with my son and it was plenty of food. The bad: Cornbread was overly sweet, and honestly just not great. The brussle sprouts weren't great, but also weren't bad. The "bacon butter" left a bit of a burned taste, but little bacon flavor. I would rather they just do plain Brussel Sprouts or use actual bacon - one direction or the other. They charge for adding celery and blue cheese dressing. The good: All the meats were tasty. Sausage were solid. Brisket was mostly fantastic. The pulled pork was a great pulled pork. Mashed potatoes and hush puppies were also really good. The amazing: The chicken wings. These are full wings - not segmented like you normally get - so that order of 6 is more like an order of 12. They are meaty. They are perfectly smoked (not fried) and come dripping in sauce. The buffalo sauce was incredibly spicy, but since there was so much meat on the chicken wing, it actually ended up balancing really nicely. read more

First time visitors. I wanted to do 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. Upon entry, we were greeted by the woman in the Ice Kream shop. Loved her. She said she was new, so she couldn't serve us, but she did seat us. I mainly Deducted stars because the sides (Mac, green beans, collards) lacked flavor and the Mac n cheese tasted sour. Not sure what that was about. Now, the cornbread to me was a little on the dry side, but maybe it needed to be a little warmer. The food was not fresh off the smoker or pan hot, but it was lukewarm warm and edible. Now, my guy says the ribs were good. He is a superfoodie, so for him to say so, I let it ride. We could agree on the other sides though. The baked beans he says were great! Again, I differed, but that could be because I don't do beef. The atmosphere was pretty quiet. By the time we ordered, it was only one or two tables, so I am not sure why it took so long for the food to come out. Once it arrived, it was go time. The sauces were awesome! The chicken was moist and the green beans were buttery, but that's all. Now, I will be honest. Kloby's is a local legend. But not why you think. Their BBQ is delicious, don't get me wrong. Everything I've had there is good and their 6 or 7 daily varieties of bread pudding will make your A1C levels tremble in fear! But what they're really legendary for is their bourbon list - wow. You don't generally think of BBQ joints as being the best place to find amazing pours, but Kloby's is the exception! They've got a list that will blow your mind. This was my first time here and decided to come for happy hour; however, I ordered off their Fat Tuesday menu. I ordered the Boudin Balls (Cajun sausage, rice, and creole mustard sauce) they were delicious with the right amount of spice. I also ordered the Oyster PoBoy. The spicy slaw on the PoBoy was amazing! I wanted to try the Hurricane, but it was lacking some alcohol so I also ordered a Manhattan from the happy hour menu and it was good. Service was good and fast and our waiter was friendly. This is a good space to come and watch games. As they have huge TVs throughout the bar area and a nice amount of seating. My girlfriend and I went back to Kloby's for our long awaited second visit. Honestly, it was much better the first time around. Whereas we opted for meats and sides our first time around, the second time we decided to go with sandwiches. I went with the Pork-a-Palooza sandwich (pork loin, bacon, pulled pork) with shoestring onions and my girlfriend some sort of pulled pork sandwich with German potato salad. I also ordered the brisket baked beans and we split an order of the pulled pork flautas. The flautas, baked beans, and shoestring onions were pretty tasty but the sandwiches and potato salad were letdowns. The pork loin on my sandwich was so tough that the knife they'd given me couldn't cut through it. My girlfriend had ordered her sandwich because it reminded her of a McRib and she would have preferred a McRib. Came in for late lunch before grocery shopping. Not to many people on this hot day with a few outside. It's hot today so I don't understand the reasoning for eating outside but hey it is there if you want to do it. I ordered the corn fritter bites as an appetizer and the meatloaf stack for an entree. Well the stack is not a summer item but it is still on the menu. Therefore I must make a change. Let me add my waitress is very nice. I decided to go with the chili bowl which is mashed potatoes, chili, cheddar cheese, bacon and onion straws. We are bold. Here are the bites that came out piping hot. They are tasty little bites of fried sweetness. You are given a lot enough for two. So it you are having an entree share them or not if you are greedy. Chili bowl came and it was hot as well. The chili is bland tasting so I added pepper and hot sauce. I would say that it is slightly better than canned. I should not have done it but I'm a sucker for bread pudding. And I got it. We visited Kloby's on a visit to Baltimore for lunch. Our friends basically live there because the food is so good. I was slightly worried because the overall reviews weren't that promising, however after tasting that brisket cheesesteak I am in love. Our server was a delightful young lady who made recommendations that knocked my socks off. If you know anything about me you'll know that I LOVE BRISKET (in my Oprah voice). Kloby's brisket is so juicy and flavorful. I was even able to reheat it in our hotel microwave and it tasted just as delicious as the day before. Our friend is in love with the Nashville hot chicken platter and my wife seem very happy with fish and chips with an old fashion to wash it down. Nice local place for barbecue. Lots of big screen TV and high tops to watch sports. Pre pandemic we came here often. This was our first time back since. It was a slow night so we were waited on quickly. Server was very nice but seemed to be too interested in getting it order. We ordered our food and it quickly came out. I ordered brisket combo that provides leans and wet meats. It was great and it was nice to have both types to compare. We had to select a sauce which was off as they used to have a selection to chose from on the table. When we were leaving we wanted to get ice cream to go but no one came to take our order. We ordered brisket, with a side of fries and Mac n cheese, shrimp tacos, and fried okra to go. The brisket was good, according to my husband. He really liked the wet brisket. The fries and okra were very, very soggy, and honestly, the okra tasted under cooked. We even ate it in the car right after getting it, not even leaving the parking lot because our toddler was napping in the back seat, and that was so disappointing. We really wanted to like the fried okra since it is so hard to find around here. The Mac and cheese dish was super bland. Also, the cornbread was mushy and bland. The shrimp tacos were super tasty! And we loved the dirty rice with the brisket! We're from down the bayou, and grew up eating dirty rice, and we loved this twist on one of our childhood staples-- seriously, brisket was an excellent choice of meat to add to it! I feel like for the price, it was a bit overpriced for the quality of many of the things we did receive, but I will say we did like the brisket, shrimp tacos, and dirty rice. We would not order the Mac-n-cheese, fries, or okra again. I'm hoping the shrimp becomes a permanent menu item because I don't really eat bbq, and it was nice to have something I do eat while my husband got to eat his favorite food (brisket). read more

I love Kloby's! The food is fantastic, the service welcoming and thoughtful. We celebrated a special date starting with the pork belly deviled eggs and jalapeño pork balls. The deviled eggs were my favorite (who doesn't love a deviled egg?); hubby loved the spicy pork balls. Both are must tries! Careful though, the spicy pork balls have a kick to them (increased just a smidge by the sauce they sit in), that you may not notice until you've eaten the entire thing! Make sure you have water to sip because they are just that good! For our mains we had the meal pictured below, though I had to bring a serving of the Jar-B-Que home to eat for lunch the next day. Walking in at 6:30pm on a Saturday night with a party of 11, we expected a long wait but were immediately seated in the "Pig Pen," a fun semi-private dining area. Our server LaRoge turned a solid meal into a memorable experience with his fast, accurate, knowledgeable, and friendly service. All the food was delicious and authentic. From fried pickles to burnt ends to brisket to catfish and everything in between, and a choice of 6 house-made sauces, we ate very well! One of the Best Restaurants in the area! We've lived in the area for a year now and been wanted to try Kloby's, but was hesitant to do so because it was kind of hidden in a strip mall and not very inviting from the outside. We decided to try it out for dinner yesterday and Wow, what a nice place they have. The décor and ambiance was very cool. It felt like a combination between a sports pub mixed with a hip family restaurant. I like how it's split down the middle with the pub setting, with a full bar, on one side and the family style vibe on the other side. You definitely get the feeling of being in a BBQ joint. Both sides have TVs, which is a plus! The place was very clean and the décor was well done. We were greeted nicely and made to feel welcome by our waiter, LaRoge. He was very polite, professional, with a really good personality. The menu was excellent with lots of choices depending on your mood/taste buds. LaRoge was very knowledgeable and confident about the menu and food items. He kind of guided the way for us and answered all of our questions. LaRoge was very considerate and attentive of my wife's allergies (Gluten and Dairy). We started with an order of their grilled wings, which were very good! (and gluten-free!) The taste was excellent, and they had a chard crispiness to them, which we really liked. My wife ordered the Turkey Breast Platter with apple sauce and green beans; and I had the Three Meat Platter, with Brisket, Pulled pork, and a spicy sausage. My sides were slaw and brussels sprouts. No complaints an any of the above! Everything was very tasty and filling. I'm not really a BBQ food seeker either, and I was really impressed. All of their sauces were amazing! Most of them are gluten-free, which is really great! Our favorites were the honey-habanero and the chipotle BBQ sauces. The cocktails we ordered were very good. Thanks for that too! Service: my husband made a phone order for me. He ordered the Shrimp Club (special). I asked him to get a side of Bama pearl sauce. This is important because 1) the sauce is $0.50 and 2) this is where service went down hill. After I paid I asked the cashier if the Bama pearl sauce was in the bag. She proceeded to explain what sauce came on the sandwich. I told her that I understood and that we ordered a side of sauce. In a condescending tone she tells me that "he did not, I took the order." I said I stand corrected, I asked him to order a sauce on the side; I would like the sauce. She rang it up, I paid. Her energy was not good. There was also her interaction with another kid there who went to get the sauce and brought back the wrong size; her energy was low-key negative. Food: after the interaction with the takeout girl, I get in the car to devour my shrimp club and there was NO BACON on the sandwich, SMH. I'm on I-95 now heading out of town. I call to at least let them know. The girl who answered the phone (likely the same takeout cashier) was very nonchalant and didn't care at all. I asked to speak to someone else, like the owner. NOTE - new owners (Steve and family sold the business). Jeremy, new owner, gets on the phone. Long story short... because I could not go back, he offers to refund $2 for the missing bacon. I stop in on Sunday just to confirm the refund. I ultimately spoke to the (new) owner, refund confirmed. All staff, including new owner don't give the warm fuzzy feel of the previous owners. read more

Both meals were great; I recommend either platter. They both came with cornbread as well. Great restaurant if you're in the mood for barbecue. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. I've been searching for years to find good barbecue beef ribs and I finally found a spot here! The bar area is super fun and would be a great place for a casual date or a meet-up with friends. The food was great (beef ribs, corn fritters, collard greens, and mac & cheese) The servers were all very helpful and friendly. My only disappointment is that they aren't next door to my house! This visit started well with what appeared to be a friendly server visiting our table right away. This was the very first time we had eaten here but no one asked if this was our first visit. When ordering I decided to order a bowl of chili which was $8.50. The server asked me if I wanted it loaded which I did. He never said anything about a $3.50 charge to add some cheese, onions, sour cream and bacon which made a bowl of chili $12! When I complained upon getting my bill rather than call the manager who never visited our table he proceeded to just open the menu and show me the very tiny print showing the price. He did not even offer to adjust the check or call a manager. Also when he laid the bill on the table there was a cash price and a credit price which charged a 2% fee if using a card. On a $74 guest check for barbecue who would have cash? This was ridiculous that a high priced restaurant won't absorb a cost of doing business. The real kicker was not seeing a manager ever while we dined. To me that means they don't care if you are there or not. Even Olive Garden has a manager stop by and Texas Roadhouse while you dine. That is customer service. Very disappointed with this restaurant even though the food was delicious. read more

Ordered thru grubhub. The catfish appetizer w/housemate tarter sauce is ADDICTIVE! the deviled eggs were not bad either but my money is on the catfish. Ordered the pork & beef ribs w/2 sides, string beans & mash potatoes, this was so Much MEAT! this made 2 dinners and 1 lunch. I read the reviews to help me decide which sides to choose and I keep reading about the string beans but could not find any reviews on the mash potatoes but I looked thru all the photos and saw several pictures of the mash potato and they looked like Real Potatoes not the instant in a box and add water to reconstitute so I took a chance and YA'LL. OMG they ain't neva lied about dem string beans they were seasoned to PERFECTION and the Potatoes were sooo tasty as well. So, there is one more thing I want to try off the menu but my sides have already been determined. Yes, its expensive and I wished they offered their specials to be ordered too, thru grubhub because I saw a Smoke Bologna sandwich advertised on their website. I ate brunch at Klobys yesterday. Honestly I was disappointed at the quality of the food. I had been frequenting this joint for many years since moving to Howard county more than 25 years ago. I had an issue with the last time I ordered from there which was a little over a year ago. I'm not sure if it's new management or my taste buds have changed. I hope they will turn around sometimes soon and once again serve top notch meals. The customer service was 50/50, waiters were very busy. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! I'm a bbq person in the summer during the winter I don't much think about it. I found this spot nearby and it had great reviews so I figured i'd give it a try. Since this was my first visit I started with what I thought was a sample size of bbq in a jar. Surprisingly I could not finish it. It's packed with pulled pork and beans. I love this concept, they serve the meal in a mason jar. I also gave their cranberry margarita a try which was pretty good. They don't come in a margarita glasses but hey you get a much larger portion this way so no complaints from me. Service: Service was quick I was able to grab lunch in under a hour and found parking directly in front. I highly recommend this hidden gem, I say hidden because I have lived minutes away and have never heard of it before. Price was fairly reasonable based on the amount of food you get. read more

Wow! Such a great way to end the holiday weekend after a disaster of a meal in DC the day before. Well if you know me you will know that I love smoked food especially brisket. Shoutout to our local community heroes! Today our Kloby's ambassador was Ms Paula. She was welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. It has been years since I've been here. We just moved back from Texas and we needed a BBQ fix. I read great reviews about the wet brisket! I am do picky and it was everything that I wanted! Pretty nice pink smoke line and very tender! We ordered many things to sample: audacious jalapeño pork balls, crispy corn fritters, and indulgent pork belly deviled eggs! We were only supposed to sample and take these home, but we ate almost all of it! I'll call this our BBQ brunch since it was our first meal of our day! It paired well with a bacon Bloody Mary, blanton's bourbon, and a Smokey old fashion! The endless crisp clean water was a blessing for a refreshing palate cleanser. The meal comprised of the chili entree which was served with a scoop of delicious mashed red potato ! We also had the rib combo both beef and pork. Tender smoked meats the came off the bone easily. We loved sampling all the house BBQ sauces! All delicious! I mixed the Carolina and the honey habanero! Extra meats for our sample: spicy sausage, wet brisket, and pork belly! All fantastic. The sausage was a bit more fennel tasting than my person taste, but I'm just sensitive to certain herbs and spices. Sides of Mac and cheese, collard greens, corn bread, and beans. So we had a lot to take home! And as memory serves me, I had a love for there bread pudding! So that went home with us to warm up and serve with their awesome sauce!
