When I lived in South Carolina in the 90's Harris Teeter was the premier grocery store. Then another chain came through and people flocked to that one. I was excited to come back and see how things had changed. I learned that to get the best and freshest items, get there early! The rotisserie chickens are quite hefty and taste delicious. They carry items that I can't get anywhere else. That's how I rate stores to begin with. I WILL and do regularly go to multiple places if need be, but it's a bonus to get it all done in one spot. The folks that work here are very nice. My only knock is when you bring your own bags inside ( you have to here in SC) , they pack them so heavily that I couldn't even lift them into the trunk. Thank goodness, I was able to call on another young man in the parking lot who happily and kindly assisted. He even said it was heavy. But the biggest and best reason for going to Harris Teeter is this. I begrudgingly am going to share this with my fellow Yelpers because they have done right by me all these years. HARRIS TEETER CARRIES RED VALENCIA GREEN PEANUTS!!!!! And damn fine, fresh ones too!!! The season is short so get them while you can! They are easy to make ( time consuming, but easy) and they freeze beautifully. They taste exactly like you just made them if done right. I do not like the jumbo white ones you usually find in these parts so these are a treat. Both of my refrigerator freezers are filled with them in various zip lock bag sized. Snack, 2people and PARTY size. I thought I was going to have to drive 5 hours for my other straight from the farmer source. If you say you hate them because they taste like beans, I am fine with it. My mom is a diehard Publix fan, so today for our large family grocery haul I convinced her to try Harris Teeter, as I've found that my local one in NC often has unique and different items than what you can typically find at other grocery stores. She agreed, and we went together today, having a good time grabbing new products at good prices up and down the aisles. But then we get to the checkout and damn.... There are more than 8 availabe registers and only one person checking people out. There were several people with carts filled to the brim, all waiting in the same line to be rung up. Then on top of it, we all had to bag our own stuff which proceeded to hold up the line either further. I understand when we have to help out at places from time to time (and in fact, I often like to) but for it to be an expectation is wild. And multiple employees walked by without an offer of help. I mean I guess I could get it when you've got a young adult customer doing the job, but 70-something year olds? Is it the generation? This store? This company? That was very bizarre, ro say the very least. (If I wanted to bag my own pile of things, then I would have gone to the self checkout....) I see now why we will be continuing with Publix. The customer service is off the charts, with friendly people helping with checkout, bagging, and even loading the car. Not to mention they know their regulars by name.... This Harris Teeter can't even come close. We tried, Mt P, HT! But not again. I'll stick to other grocery stores while in the Charleston area. read more

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but this HT just doesn't do it for me. The prices seem higher and they're (too) often out of stock of many of the items I want. The employees are neither friendly, nor helpful. Also, I don't understand why HT doesn't have touchless pay so I can pay with my phone. Not happy! read more

Nice Harris Teeter located in a busy section of Mt. Pleasant right off HWY 17. This store is usually always packed on the weekend and sometimes parking is pretty limited; but not impossible to find a space in the lot. The staff at this store is super friendly and always willing to help. They carry some of the freshest produce around for a chain grocery store; and even have local produce from time to time. The other departments like meat, dairy, and bakery also have some of the freshest grocery items as well. Overall, this is a nice HT and surely beats the other chain grocery stores in town. read more

We have lived here for 7 1/2 years now. Harris Teeters was close and a no-brainer as a go to for just about everything as we could reach it by car or our golf cart. Here we are and I can tell you, we are treated like family. From Trevor "The Man" at the Starbucks inside, to Dan and his staff at the pharmacy, to Ev who always provides sunshine with her beautiful smile and Billy Ford, who runs the place. Every time I see him I say "Still running like a well-oiled machine". We exchange grins. You can get fresh pizzas right out of the oven, there's a Salad Bar, an Asian Bar and a Southern Food Bar all freshly stocked and my all-time favorite, buy 2-two pound bags of large shrimp and get 3 bags free. Our freezer is stocked every time Billy puts on this sale. And there are many others like it (see Diet Coke for my bride) But this place is far from a machine. They are my neighbors and my friends. I really like this Harris Teeter in Mount Pleasant. This Teeter seems to have its own unique flavor from all of the other Harris Teeters in the area. The location is very convenient and easy to get to off of Highway 17 and the shopping center the store is in always seems to have plenty of parking available. I like the way that this store is organized as everything is well organized and all of the sections are well marked and what you are looking for is easy to find. The store is very clean and well maintained and run. The staff here is very consistent and helpful in making sure that you have the best shopping experience and will stop what they are doing to help you if you are in need of assistance. I have always found exactly what I wanted at a great price here. read more

Harris Teeters is the nearest grocery store to my house. They have a nice location with plenty of parking. They even have a couple of parking spots for Veterans which I think is a really nice gesture. The inside is huge, well lit and always clean. The staff are pretty friendly but I have encountered a few bad apples. The produce department has some ok buys but overall is overpriced. The do have good sale prices on produce so that is a bonus. The meat department has an ok selection but their prices are on the high side and the quality is not as good as Sam's or Costco. The frozen section is good if they have a sale as their prices are much higher than many of their competitors. One thing they do consistently have is a good sale on soda. There is always some buy 1 get one free or buy 2 get 3 free sale. I look forward to the new grocery store that opened up in Summerville coming to Mt Pleasant - Lowes. They are very nice and will make things pretty interesting as they are much better the HT and with better prices!!! Healthy competition will be good for the local consumers - oh yeah!!! read more

This Harris Teeter location is easy to get in and out of on highway 17n. The store is always clean, ready for you to shop and has a friendly staff. I stop by here most mornings to get something at the Starbucks inside, and always are served with a smile. The store has all your grocery needs: large produce dept, bakery & deli dept, meat & seafood, along with a pharmacy. I tend to stop by here for quick shopping needs after work, to pick up items for dinner. The cashiers are trained well, greet me and scan my items. The store also has a self check out for your own use, which is great for those small purchases. Overall a nice neighborhood store, which has many specials you can save more with. I went to the butcher at my regular Harris Teeter on 41 in Mt P asking about a particular cut of pork- he told me no-not possible- fortunately found it at the Publix where they were happy to provide the cut I was looking for ...thanks Publix for great customer service...I guess I've found a new regular market and butcher shop. read more

Hands down my favorite nearby grocery store. There's a wonderful HT on IOP, but a smaller version. Occasionally, we need the expanded grocery run and this is the place to get it done. Always helpful, always stacked shelves, always fresh produce. HT carries every brand we use. The auto checkout is efficient and there's an employee handy if I need assistance. Large store. Easy, close-in parking. If you're coming from the north on 17, turn at the Six Mike light to enter. Coming from the south is straight in. read more

Better than average grocery store, but nothing special enough to have the higher prices they have. I use the pharmacy here, and one of the head pharmacists, Kyle, is a really great guy who goes out of his way to get you what you need unlike most pharmacists. Unfortunately the rest of the pharmacy staff isn't as such, and there are a lot of medications that they dont have in stock and have to order. Had some bad experiences with the pharmacy here and wouldn't keep going if it weren't for the one pharmacist, Kyle. Produce is lacking and the bakery is definitely not up to par with publix. The parking lot is crowded and its hard to get out of. However, price aside, it is far better experience than bi-low or Walmart! Overall i would prefer Publix as my primary grocery store, but it's a farther drive for me than Harris Teeter! read more

It seems as if every time I go here, they don't have what I need, smoked mozzarella, PB2, marscapone. I find them to be the most expensive in town, and I expect them to be stocked. I won't be going here anymore. From now on, I'll make the drive down to Trader Joe's where they carry the products that I need at half the price. read more

The worst service ever just now. Never have I ever gotten such a stern look, a ridiculous question, and no service at HT. I just forgot to bring my vic card, and the phone happened to be dead. A skinny, tall, woman with glasses comes to 'help,' gives me a suspicious look, asks how long I've had a vic card, goes away after saying start scanning and never comes back. While we take care of our business, I see her smiling and chatting with other customers while helping them out. In Charlotte, folks would even offer to swipe their card for us if we forgot. This is overall the worst HT I have ever been to. read more

I do have to admit that I haven't been a fan of this store, simply because the checkout process is so long, even in the self checkout, but today Steve, the butcher, made a friend for life! I often stop at this store on my home home from work. They have a good selection of organic fruits, veggies and chicken. I'd like to see them stock some organic beef, but they generally have the bison meet available. The store is always clean, and the staff is friendly. read more
