My first impression of Dr. Albers was that he had an unusual, mechanical bedside manner. He rarely explained treatment plans and became somewhat sharp when asked for explanations or "why." Despite a history of excellent oral health and regular checkups at my previous dentist, Dr. Albers' team found issues requiring treatments at nearly every visit, contrasting sharply with prior dental care. I stayed because the original front office staff here were welcoming and patient-centered. Although unconventional, I often obtained clarification on my care from them, rather than Dr. Albers. They apologized when I raised concerns about his communication style, said I was not the first to voice concern, and said they had consistently suggested improvements to him. Their professionalism and kindness were the reasons I remained. Recently, the entire front office staff here have resigned. The new staff are rude, dismissive, argumentative, and lack follow-up. Their approach has completely changed the tone of this practice. For example, I was scheduled for a routine cleaning on a Monday afternoon but became ill over the weekend with COVID symptoms. I called to cancel first thing Monday morning. The staff said I should come in anyway because they wear PPE. I explained this would pose risk to other patients. They then threatened a $50 late-cancellation fee, despite the office being closed over the weekend leaving me unable to make a 48-hour notice. Dr. Albers later told me not to worry about the fee, but said I "could have still come in," which I found irresponsible for public health! Other issues included failure to provide follow-up on requested treatment estimate; staff admitted they had "forgotten" to call me. After a recent cleaning, I received an unexpected ~$23 bill billed as relating to "periodontal." I am not a periodontal patient. I emailed the office and got no response. After two more bills, now with finance fees, I reached out again. They claimed they never received my email and explained the charges were for items insurance does not pay, including "room cleaning" and "oral rinse" (mouth wash). I was told I would now be paying about $51 out of pocket per cleaning. I said patients should be informed of new billing practices. The staff said they had "done their best," by mentioning it "upon checkout." I requested the $23 charge be waived since I was unaware of the policy. She refused, saying the office had previously waived a broken-appointment fee, so they would not waive anything else. When I remarked that Dr. Albers likely wouldn't want to lose a patient over $23, she said, "Actually, Dr. Albers said if you want to go elsewhere, that's fine, because with your insurance he loses money treating you." When I asked to speak with Dr. Albers, she said, "he does not discuss financial matters with patients." I canceled all future appointments and stated I would pay the balance due minus the finance charges. A few days later, I received an unsigned, poorly formatted letter dated the same day, stating that "he" wished to end our professional relationship and would provide only emergency care for 30 days. Dr. Albers never contacted me personally; I strongly suspect the letter came from his staff. When I had asked to speak with a manager to resolve issues, I was told the practice has none--"Dr. Albers has staff for that purpose." This is highly concerning and unconventional for a practice of this size. It suggests there is no oversight or accountability. Given Dr. Albers' age and reliance on staff, this raises questions about whether he is being accurately informed about office operations. From my experience, the new staff appear defensive and at times vindictive, and important information, including errors, may not be honestly conveyed. Staff appear free to take actions with patients, such as sending letters under Dr. Albers' name without a signature. Based on the above, I urge you to seek care elsewhere. read more

I just spent 1 and a half hours in the chair- I had a 40 year old filling that needed attention- Dr Albers could have easily said you need a crown - but we decided to replace the filling- although it was brutal he repaired my tooth perfectly- his attention to perfection is outstanding- his staff is a wonderful expression of him the are all ROCK STARS! read more

Update to my last review: I requested a copy of my dental records from this office, and they refused to provide them, even after I reminded them that under California law (Health & Safety Code §123110), patients are entitled to access their records within 15 days of a written request, regardless of any outstanding balance. Their response was unprofessional and included a threat of sending me to collections "Shall we send you to collections?". I STILL do not recommend this office due to their disregard for patient rights and poor communication. read more

Dr. Albers has a serious problem with his personality. He's cold, unprofessional, sharp and not to mention he WAY OVERCHARGES!! I went in for an exam and cleaning and was told I needed a "second deep cleaning??" Bizarre. I've never heard of it in years of going to the dentist. Plus it was going to cost $700. I had to call twice to get my treatment estimate and it was 7,000$ for several cavities, a broken crown and a cracked tooth. I've already had the cracked tooth checked at my last dentist before he retired and he said it didn't need unnecessary work since it was surface and didn't hurt. Dr. Albers was going to charge me $1,900 to fix it. The hygienist that cleaned my teeth was rude. She was rough and kept asking me to open my mouth wider when I had just gone through aan hour and a half of x-rays and an exam. My mouth was tired. I canceled my first appointment and they've already called me twice to see if I can come in. I would absolutely not recrecommend Dr. Albers or his staff. read more

Let me start by saying - I have had a ton of work done on my teeth. I have a few root cancels, a few crowns and a bunch of fillings and have had many experiences with wonderful and not so wonderful dentists in NYC and LA over the years. We had moved up to Healdsburg and Dr Albers came recommended by someone and with all the glowing Yelp reviews I made my appointment. I had to get a crown done and this was my first dental procedure with Dr. Albers and will also most definitely be MY LAST. Firstly, he has an awful bedside manner, which I can completely get over quickly if you're a fantastic doctor but he is very short with patients (in and out of the room in know time and onto the next room), almost condescending in tone with explaining things and there are some many people working and praising him in his office it almost feels like a working hospital and all he students are doing the work for him! Now I'm not saying anything can happen when you're getting a crown but the fact that it took over 2 hours to cement the damn crown on by his assistant no less - with Dr Albers popping in and out of the room - and the fact that only hours after arriving home from his office I not only felt like crap but I was feverish. So feverish that later that night spiking my fever at night to 102 (never has this happened to me). I called his office the next morning -still feverish- and told them about it and then spoke to the Dr and I asked him if I could get an antibiotic cause I was pretty certain I had an infection in my tooth since I had no other symptoms (like a cold) - he said there is no way an infection could happen so quickly and no way could the 2 are linked. I then said I believed my tooth became infected the week in-between while waiting for the permanent crown to be cemented in cause it was becoming very sensitive, throbbing at times - I informed him of this at my visit before he cemented my crown on - both times he said it was normal. All time he pretty much brushed me off. He said I could come in to have an x-ray to see if fever doesn't go away the following day. Day 3 - still had a wicked fever with no other symptoms. I mean it was pretty freaking obvious it was my tooth! Anyway I went in, he hurried me along, someone took an x-ray and tested my tooth to see if sensitive to cold only- he didn't check to see if my bite was off, didn't check to see if I was heat sensitive, didn't really give my gums an examination - then he said all is healthy the 2 are not related. Hope I feel better. Day 5 - still had a fever. I decided to go to another dentist who then listened to me, looked at my incredibly inflamed gums and said - you have an infection and finally FINALLY someone prescribed me an antibiotic! I could go on but I'll end by saying I called his office to inform them that I indeed did have an infection and I thought it was very telling of his character that he never called me on the phone to check in or even apologize for his lack of care. read more

Today was my first appointment for a cleaning and they were very thorough with the X-rays and the examination. The Dr. Albers to be more in the preventive care which I really like. Outstanding!!! This was My first Time to a dentists office, and I'm 63! My friend Misty, recommended Dr Albers because she's afraid of pain; Me too. I was scared to death, until I met Dr Albers. He's quite the character. Sort of like Mr Spock on Star Trek, you're impressed with his knowledge and how he conveys it.. Just listening to him describe my issues, I could tell, he's really good at this. His Vibe was good, you trust him but he's not gonna give you a hug. Cause he's Spock! His office Staff is the Ying to Dr Albers Yang. They are very friendly, knowledgeable, and listen to your needs Between Dr Albers Skill, and his staff's making sure all your concerns are addressed, They Are the definition of Good Dentistry in my opinion. This Dentist office is State of the Art Technology, with all the bells and Whistles. Luckily we got insurance back which helps, but I don't trust anyone else with my family's needs. The staff are so polite and Dr. Albert is an amazing dentist. Dr Albers is a very talented dentist. I have worked with him on both implants and dentures. I have been quite pleased at how responsive he has been for any questions or problems. The office went over my billing in detail and every visit kept me up to date on what my insurance would cover. His assistant Ari is quite talented himself. I spent three years in Santa Rosa and didn't realize until I moved away that there was serious unnecessary roughness going on at Dr. Albers! During one filling I literally felt like I was being water-boarded. He can be a bit impolite at times as well. He acted angry at me one time, saying geez you have such a small mouth! Wow, as if I have control over that! I never used to hate going to the dentist until I spent three years in his chair. Once I moved away, I found a great dentist and hygienist who do what's necessary to keep your teeth and gums healthy, but also don't go overboard with unneeded treatment. I would look for a different clinic that has a gentler hand and won't go crazy with treatment just to bill your insurance. read more

Not a fan!.. I came to this dental office 2 weeks ago from this post looking for help with TMJ issues. Dr. Albers is a nice guy it just seems that he either lost his passion or he's getting old??.. When he checked my mouth he told me that I had broken fillings and gum disease!!!.. WTF?.. I went to 2 other dentists and they said my mouth was nearly perfect. So for figure?.. Dr. Albers is a great dentist. I just had a procedure done there & I'm basically ok. The office, here's what I like about it - everyone is really great, really friendly. It is a peaceful, zen-like atmosphere in the front. The video shows fish swimming around instead of dental procedure ads like in other offices. Calm waiting area is really important to me. Dr. Albers worked on me today as well as Yvonne on my side upper fillings, etc. It was a really good experience, from the waiting room to the procedures. Harry Albers office sends out post cards with confidential information on it, medical information that no one has given permission to be public, They send post cards saying "youre late for a check up" so the post man and everyone else who sees it thinks you didnt go to the dentist, but the truth is you just DIDNT GO BACK TO HARRY ALBERS BECAUSE HE CHARGES DOUBLE. After reaching out to Dr. Albers personally regarding one of his staff members releasing my private patient information to an undesignated third party (who happened to be my coworker at another dental office) I received no response. There was no apology for his breach of HIPPA or personal responsibility for his staffs incompetence in keeping private matters private. Which is the first and most important aspect of working in any medical or dental field. I have never felt so violated. I work in the dental industry in town and it's unfortunate that I had to resort to yelp to get any type of response. Shame on you and your staff, I think it's time for some HIPPA compliance and patient relation training on your end. read more

I picked this place because it was open after work, was close to my apartment and was clean and the staff was mostly friendly. Went in for routine cleaning and to ask about Invisalign since this office was referred on the website. I kept asking about Invisalign but I left my first appointment with information about dental implants instead, which I told Harry Albers himself, I didn't want. I keeping saying I was there for Invisalign, and he even said I was a good candidate for it, but right back to the implants he'd go. Every subsequent visit I became a little bit more concerned. Everytime I talked about Invisalign, I was sold hard on dental implants. The cleanings were great but everytime I got a notice from my insurance company letting me know that I was being overcharged by between $25-$85, I became apprehensive. Then when I went to another dentist I kept getting regular calls trying to schedule appointments, I didn't know how to tell them that I didn't like the place until the calls got annoying and then I just told them flat out that I found a better, honest dentist. Today, I had a two hour appointment to get a chipped tooth fixed and also have my teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, my baby sitter cancelled on me last minute, so I had to bring my son (he's 13 months) with me, which for every mom is a nightmare. I feel that Harry Albers & Associates epitomizes what quality dental care is all about. Dr. Albers is always on the cutting edge of technology, and meets high OSHA standards, which is reassuring. Our family's great experience with them began when they merged with Dr. John Rich & Assoc., whom we had been seeing prior to that. I was worried that we wouldn't have the same overall positive experience as we had with Dr. Rich and have been pleasantly surprised. His staff is first class. Starting with the front desk, Stacey and Jackie, among others, are always professional yet sincere and kind. There is never a long wait. My favorite hygienist in the whole world is Dalia. Truly one of a kind, Dalia is thorough yet gentle. She always makes sure I'm comfortable and has such great stories. I will follow her wherever she goes! Still loving the professionalism, prompt service, with extras like pillows, movies on iPads offered....and knowing that we're getting the best dental care possible, after having to leave a dentist whose practice was suffering financially and more, equipment was outdated, the contrast has been startling with the latest technology and thorough examinations. His office is equipped with the latest in technology. His x-ray equipment is digital. Radiation is at a minimum. His staff is competent, very will trained and very friendly. He as done extensive work for me and it has been painless, long lasting and has worked to correct my problem. He is particularly good with complex dental problems. This place Dr Albers is rated very well that's why I chose this dentist. At first everything seemed fine until I had a couple problems one of which they did a filling and now my same tooth is ruined. I will have to get more work done on it due to them not doing the job correctly. They have changed up my schedule with them planning one thing and changing it more then once which leaves me thinking they don't really know exactly what there doing. This alone is very disappointing coming from somewhere with such high ratings this is crazy to me. So now there is a Jackie and a Stacy the women who work at the front desk. Just a cpl average ladies who arnt very nice. One morning Jackie calls me and is very unprofessional because I missed one call from them and she called me again so when I answer its Jackie prying and prying me to keep my apt when I clearly told her I am canceling so charge me the fee if that's what you need. She still gos against what I'm saying and I tell her I'm going through a tough time and I can not make it then she's says " well woman to woman" and keeps going and going. Just would not shut up. Shortly after I hung up on her because I felt harassed by this " professional" lady at Dr Albers. They talk with disrespect I don't know if it's because I'm not the same age as these old women but I felt very disrespected when I'm the one paying them on and off my insurance. They act as if there paying you to be there. Not to mention they don't communicate when they are charging you.... I personally don't care if it's takin off my " credit" I have with them.The communication is what would have been nice and appropriate. I could go on about this place....
