I normally go out of my way to support small businesses, but unfortunately this is one place I won't be returning to. I placed an online order after checking the website, which showed the part I needed was in stock. I arrived about 30 minutes later, assuming it would either be waiting at the front counter or that I could simply pick it up myself. From the moment I walked in, the cashier acted like answering my question was an inconvenience. He sent another associate to help me, and she provided some of the worst customer service I've experienced. She made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by asking for the part and told me I should have waited for a confirmation email before coming in. I understand that businesses have procedures, but there were more employees than customers in the store--only about four customers total--so there was no reason for such poor customer service. A simple explanation delivered with a positive attitude would have made all the difference. I chose to pay more for the part specifically because I wanted to support a local business instead of ordering it online. Instead, I left feeling like I was treated as a nuisance rather than a customer. After reading many of the other reviews, I can understand why people have had similar experiences. Not a Harry's fan. Went in to have three different keys made. Found out later they didn't follow instructions and made three of the same one. Called to tell them what happened and explain I'd like to come back, please, for my other two keys at no charge. Talked to Harry. He was short, interrupts and tells me I'd have to come in and show him. No, It's a simple ask, your mistake, and you are wasting my time. The least you can do is listen to your customer. NOT HELPFUL. Our first experience at this store and the customer service was so great, we will definitely choose to come back here. Every employee offered to help us during our visit. They even helped us load up our purchase in our truck, which we've never been offered at other places like Home Depot, Menards etc. Very knowledgeable and friendly! read more

I called Ace Hardware and asked if they tune up riding lawn mowers and snowblowers also if they pickup and deliver I was told yes they do I also asked for prices the gentleman obviously was in a hurry and telling me prices for tuneups and I asked if they could call me and let me know what they need and prices the next day a gentleman called and said everything was done I said you never called to give me a quote he said it's all done I said you were suppose to call before you fixed anything he said your husband came in yesterday afternoon I approved it well my husband passed away last December he said it's done I'm not gonna argue with you so i paid please don't use this location that's a terrible way to do business read more

I would never shop at this store. I would give them no stars if I could. The owners are rude, condescending and treat their employees like dirt. No work/ life balance if you work here. They are out for the almighty dollar with no concern for the staff that works for them. Lots of competition out there folks, don't patronize this store. Only to see that I couldn't return them after I was profiled after the cashier took the receipt and was ready and willing to give me a complete return only to find that the manager had told her not give me a refund.... The manager at this location is absolutely rude to customers when asked simple questions and completely lies to get paid for jobs that weren't even approved. Suppose to get an estimate on some tune ups on mowers and the invoice stated on it to CALL FIRST. Wasn't called and work was completed. Thought it may be around 500.00 and it was over 800.00. He openly lied saying it was approved. Will never use this location. Called corporate to complain. Never received a call back. Was told the owners were being notified but not sure they even care. Poor way to do business. I will make sure my friends and family know this is a poor business to trust in. Lost many loyal customers on this! read more

They deserve a negative number considering how rude Harry is. He is insulting and acts as if you, his customer, are putting him out by asking for assistance. After renting a piece if equipment he threatened to charge me more if the equipment wasn't cleaned to his liking. He asked if I cleaned it and I said yes. He went to the machine and completely disassembled it to uncover mud that I had missed. Never on a million years would I have thought to completely disassemble the equipment. When last I rented this piece I got it from Home Depot. I cleaned it and returned it with absolutely no problem. I did exactly the same when I rented it from Harry and got to experience the wrath of Harry. Home Depot was actually $3 cheaper for an hour more time than Harry. Home Depot did not have one available right when I wanted so my lack of patience led me to Harry. Never again. I take some blame for this bad review considering in 12 years living in the area I have gone there 2 or 3 times before (yeah, thats all i could handle) and have always experienced the poor service and rude behavior. Both Christian and Phil are giving false info. I have been a customer of Harry's for over 10 years. I also have never had this happen. My guess is these two people want Me now service and the rest come later. I rate attitudes and so on. I bet they even text while driving hey guys. Go to to a different store. The employees looked like they are ready and willing to provide excellent service and assist you with anything you may be interested in. But they don't come through, when asked upon and leave you waiting. It just seemed like they are so disfunctional and lack service when they have around 10 or less customers in store. So rude. I heard that Harry's does estimates on lawnmowers. $40 for pick up and drop off and $25 for a diagnostic fee. They picked it up on Thursday and didn't hear from them. Called Wednesday the following week to see if there was an update. Harry said "they haven't even gotten to it." When I said they've had it for almost a week he told me I should be lucky most places are three. I said well that's a poor customer service response and he said "so!" The next morning he called me to tell me the quote for fixing our lawnmower would be $142+ tax this was spark plugs, battery, labor, pick up and delivery and cleaning it up. I said go ahead with the repairs. I asked when it would be done he said later that day. Later that day somebody called to tell me they want to drop off our lawnmower and they needed payment. I gave them my credit card over the phone and asked what the total was they said $190. I told him that's not what I was quoted in the morning he said I'm not the person you talk to we'll call you back. Harry called me back and explain that the pick up and delivery was not included. When I said "you told me this morning it was included," Harry started yelling at me over the phone telling me that he's going to rip all the parts off of my mower if I don't pay. And then told me that I can leave it there and rot he doesn't care and hung up on me! I waited about an hour and called back and asked to speak with the store manager. Turns out the person that yelled at me was the store manager. I told him I understand that he's angry because he miss quoted me. I could not get another words out before he started yelling at me again. Telling me that he told me approximately $142 plus tax, I put him on speaker phone so my husband could hear him yelling at me. When my husband asked him how approximately turned out to be almost $50 more we got hung up on again. I have no idea what to do. At this point I have not picked up my lawnmower and I'm terrified to go into the store. And since he was so angry with me I'm afraid that he did something malicious to our mower. The store does not care about customer service and does not care about customers. I will update this post if and when I get my lawnmower back. read more

This is an excellent store. Highly knowledgeable staff and courteous. Always helpful and willing to explain ways to repair things. On occasion I will go to one of the big box hardware stores only to become frustrated with lack of ANY customer service and end up heading over to HARRY's Ace for REAL customer service. This is great place and I cannot recommend them enough. When I speak with others in the community about how great this store is - they also echo my sentiments. The service at Harry's is terrible and the prices are high. They act like you are bothering them to ask for anything. I went to Harry's get my mower blades sharpened. When I asked how long it would take to get blades sharpened, the woman in the front said "I don't know, I don't sharpen them". I asked her to call the sharpening guy in back to ask how long it would take and you would have thought I asked her to run a marathon. No matter, the guy in back wouldn't answer the phone so I had to walk back and ask myself. When I talked to the guy at the service desk how long it would take he said "I'll get to it when I get to it". I will never go back. read more

Twice in the last month I have gone to Harry's for help. The first time, they actually didn't have the hinge I needed, but Harry listened to what I needed and gave me some good advice. This week I needed a replacement gas cap for a Toro lawn mower. The one they had was from a new mower. Harry took it off the new mower so I could buy it. I am a bit disappointed with the service provided at this particular Ace Hardware. I bought a furnance filter and expected that their service staff would cut it to fit into my furnace/AC. I was told to cut it myselt with a sissors. Not the easiest cut to do when cutting thru half inch thick filter with a home sissors. When I had this issue with other Ace Hardware stores. There was no issue re the cutting. So I assumed this Ace would also provide the same service. The Ace I used to go to is no longer in business. Glad I didn't break the sissors.. Having MS, simple things are are not easy. With using a walker, I thought I would get a little better service than I received. read more

Horrible customer service. I bought a bird bath there which had to be assembled. Put it together and the screws were stripped and nuts were cross-threaded. Very wobbly and unsteady. Hunk of junk. I decided to return it to the store -- not worth the $40 I paid for it. I left it assembled but brought along the box it came in. I told them I wanted to return it because it was defective. "Morrie" told me I had to take it apart and put it back in the box. He was very rude. Their receipt says that "We will fix it, replace it or refund your purchase. Your receipt is all you need." This is a big joke. They make you feel like you're a criminal and that you are bothering them. I would never set foot in this store again. read more

Previous review was ridiculous. I have had nothing but excellent service at Harry's. No matter what question I have it has been answered. I have had to tackle some tough home projects and everyone there has been more than courteous and helpful. I had a screen door re-done and it was finished in one day. The minute you walk in the door someone is there to ask if you need help. Definitely recommend Harry's as an excellent resource. read more

I don't know what to put as a rating...I have shopped here ever since we moved to Franklin..but now I have a concern. My wife was there, checking out..and there was a $27 charge with no explanation..My wife noticed the bill was a lot higher than should be, but the girl at the checkout counter played dumb...I like Harry's but will keep a close eye on our bill!! A charge on the bill doesn't get there on it's own...!!! someone else redid it and the $27 was not there....mmm...be careful, check your account...I hope Harry gets this!! read more

I should have read these reviews first. Email ad says snowblower tune-up $99 plus parts; free pick up and delivery. So I was expecting a bill between $125-$150; snowblower comes back with a bill of $243...$89 parts, $139 labor. Harry likes to argue...about everything. I should have just taken the snowblower back to Farm and Fleet (where I purchased it). They tuned it last time for $100. read more

Rented a steam cleaner that did not work. I could not take it back since the store was closed so I had to wait until the next day. I took it back after work and they asked why I did not call first thing in the morning or bring it in assuming I was lying and had used it. The owner said that it was dirty so it must have worked. Water did not come out of the machine. I read and re-read the directions and tried with a friend for almost three hours. When I took it back in they would not give me another machine unless I paid for another rental and they complained the machine was dirty. They have THE WORST customer service. I did not like going to the big name stores (Menards) but since they have the best customer service and prices I will never go back to Harrys True Value in Franklin. read more

Worst customer service. I called service regarding my Toro snowblower for a gas leak and associated tank recall. When I dropped off the unit, Harry treated my wife and I as if we were an inconvenience. I told him I am only dropping it off for the recall if that is the issue, but I do not want anything else fixed, as I would be rebuilding the carburetor before winter. A few days later I received a phone call that the tank was already replaced and the leak was coming from the carburetor. I declined the repair and went in to pickup the snowblower. I was charged an estimate fee, although I was never provided with an estimate to fix the unit. When I questioned this,the store clerk said I would need to take it up with Harry, since the charge was written on the sheet. So as to not make a second trip, I paid the fee and had her leave a note for Harry that I wanted to discuss. When Harry called me back the next day, I was told by him that "I don't work for nothing" and had to pay it to get the snowblower back. Had I known that there would be a charge, I would never have left the snowblower to begin with. I brought it in specifically for the recall issue on the tank and faulty fuel line, no repairs were done and yet I was still charged for an "estimate" that I was not given. I have found Harry to be both rude and unprofessional. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this Ace but will travel the extra distance to another location in the area. read more

Purchased four cans of designer white paint last month because they were on sale. Before buying them I asked the paint guy if i could bring them in when I decided a color? I usually do not buy paint unless I know the color I will be using. He said that would be know problem that's why he said to just go with the white paint.. Today I went in there with all four cans knowing what color I finally wanted. I was informed by the owner (Harry) that it was over thirty days and the white paint I purchased would not be able to use for the color I wanted. I needed a different base. I said I don't want to return the paint than just exchange it for the right base than. He said he would not do that for me since it was past thirty days. I informed him that the paint guy had told my husband and I we could. He said we would not tell a customer that. I asked him than you are we are saying we are lying? He just replied " there is nothing he could do for me." Very rude. I am a big supporter in supporting the smaller business rather than the big box stores however, I learned a lesson from this Ace. I will never purchase anything from there again nor would I recommend going there. And to add to it my 9 year old son was with me and said "He was really rude to you mom!" This purchase was not the first item from them but it will be the last! And if you are a woman I suggest you bring a man with you because he was very degrading! read more
