Lots of different baked goods here. I went for donuts, but wanted to leave with everything on the shelves!. If your in the area , stop and check it out.

This is a cute, old school local bakery. They have a small private parking lot and the women working there are so very friendly and helpful. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and were helped me with my selections. They have cases full of pies, cakes, turnover, donuts, brownies, danish, sticky buns, cookies and much more. They have a wide selection and they all looked so delicious. I ended up getting a strawberry creme turnover, a small cherry pie, and a couple of chocolate donuts. They were fresh and tasted absolutely delicious. They also have drinks in a refrigerator available for purchase and a bunch of trinkets such as ceramic figurines, beanie babies, and cards. Their stuff is very reasonably priced. I though the woman had rang my stuff up wrong at first. Here, cash is king. They prefer cash, but accept credit cards. They do charge a 3.5% service charge with credit card usage though. I really like this shop. It has a nostalgic feel, friendly staff and delicious treats. I highly recommend checking them out.

Highly disappointed on the money i just wasted on a dozen donuts they are brunt and taste trouble .

    Great slice

I called around town and the price on a rainbow cake here was very reasonable. I was hesitant because I had never used this bakery. I picked it up and the staff were so nice and friendly. My daughter cut into the cake and it was beautiful. All the beautiful colors and the chocolate icing. Warning, the icing is thick, so thin slices unless you can handle it. Lastly, the flavor excellent and so moist. Just amazing. My son has asked for the same cake for his birthday.

How did I never stop in this place when I lived on the east side? Walking into this place would make a small child's eyes bulge out of their heads (and probably some adults too) with all the colorful array of pastries and small collectibles/dolls on display. I wasn't stopping for the non-edibles, but I will admit their collection of items was worth checking out if you are looking for something unique. But I was there for pastries....I'm not a yeast donut guy. I like lots of flavors in my morning selection and this place delivers. Who knew they carried individual pies and cakes? I picked up an apple pie, a cherry pie, a Pineapple Upside down cake, and the most creative "turtle" I've ever seen. And there were cream horns, lots of small sugar cookies, and some bismarks. Frankly, for such a small space for pastries, I was amazed at how many choices they had even at mid-morning. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and when I saw the turtles, she pointed out the woman who makes them by hand. If you haven't seen my photos, she forms a chocolate shell around the caramel and uses pecans for the feet to support the shell. Very cool, but I'm afraid my wife ate it before I got a chance to try it! It sure looked good though. Located just east of the 10th and Shadeland intersection, the stand alone building was easy to get in and out of (I went when it wasn't rush hour). Nice place to stop for something tasty to make your morning special! Review #2283

I was very excited coming to Hart Bakery & Gifts because it appeared to be a family owned small business. These usually are the best places to eat. I made sure I got there early so I could catch the donuts hot. When I walked in it gave me the flea market feel. They not only sell baked goods there's a ton of flea market like items. Of course I didn't mind because I'm there for the donuts. The next thing I noticed that the donuts didn't have a barrier or in a case. I'm not a germaphobe but the donuts aren't too far from the door (See picture). It was too late to worry about that so I opted for the glazed yeast and maple cinnamon. Ok. Pros: Customer service was decent. Everyone was greeted when we walked in. Donuts are fresh. The employee counted back the change the right way. Lol. This is a lost art. Cons: No barrier. I'm not interested in fly or gnat donuts. There's not a large selection of donuts and no specialty. There's really no WOW to the donuts. They taste like your basic fried donut that you can get at any gas station. Price. I think I paid $2 for 2 donuts. These are easily .50-.65 donuts. I doubt I'd go back here. If I did it'll be to taste some of the other baked good.

Super custom order so I called 20 some bakeries and every one of them said no, except one... and Hart Bakery not only said yes, but listened and then went above and beyond to deliver. It is a small market for 3' chocolate chip cookie torches, but we all need a bakery with a great product and OUTSTANDING customer service. Thanks you Hart Bakery for being amazing listeners, imaginative, and willing to bake outside the box!

chocolate cake, chocolate icing - delicious!

From handmade soaps and jewelry to even being able to order locally grown peaches -- I was obsessed. They had "blind date with a book" selections wrapped up and ready to choose from, plus so many fun little treasures to browse whether you're popping in for a quick coffee run or planning to stay awhile. The cozy, quaint atmosphere made it feel instantly welcoming. Their spring menu was incredible! I tried the Berries n' Cream Iced Latte -- made with white chocolate, blueberry syrup, and topped with strawberry cold foam -- and it was creative, unique, and seriously so good. I also grabbed a strawberry muffin, which isn't something you see very often, and it was absolutely delicious. The service was truly one of a kind. Even as a first-time visitor, I felt right at home. I already can't wait to come back and see what seasonal creations they dream up next!

It's also a gift shop with artwork, crafts and other items made by locals artists and crafters. It's a great place to drink and shop. I spied hand-poured candles, bespoke essential oil fragrances, crocheted stuffed animals, books published by local authors, kitchen goods, jewelry, magnets, gift cards, clothing, and even food items like local honey and peanut butter. I spent a little while browsing and I wanted all of the things. There's just something about gifts made by someone with intention and love. When I finally made my way to the coffee counter, I ordered not my standard black coffee, but a chai latte. Do you know why? Because I freakin' could! The chai latte was made with whole milk, and it was delicious all the way to the end. Coffee beverages come in two sizes: 12 ounces and 16 ounces. They also have baked goods, like pastries, bagels, muffins, croissants, and even a chocolate-filled waffle. I also saw that they offer avocado toast and bagel sandwiches. There are a few tables inside this cozy coffee shop, located near the counter where you order. This would be a good place to meet up with a friend and enjoy a nice coffee or chai, and sit for a while, or take your drinks to go and talk about nothing and everything.

Honestly, we picked it from among the other bakeries in the area because it was on the way and the photos of the food looked diverse. Thank you universe! My husband and I do not have a lick of Spanish heritage or knowledge so I can't tell you exactly what we bought (see photo), but I can say everything is delicious. The bakery does not have a dine-in section, everything is grab and go. The young woman managing the front was very kind and made great recommendations when we asked what we should try. You take a tray, a pair of tongs, and choose items to your hearts content. I wish we needed a cake, because the case was full of beautifully decorated sheet and personal selections. Customers can see the bakers in the next room prepping away, and it adds to overall fresh, clean, family feel. Price: $13. That's how much we spent for five ginormous pastries and two large pieces of cheesecake. I almost feel like a criminal paying such low prices, considering most bakeries charge $5+ for a single item. Recommendation: Try it. Especially the custard-filled loaf.
