Atlantic Ave near the train tracks in Audubon. Their menu drew me in as they offer a wide selection of soups by the day as well as sandwiches, wraps, grilled cheese, burgers and hot dogs. Just think cozy comfort food. The inside has ample seating if you plan to dine in and a small counter in the rear to order out. I was greeted by a friendly young lady who was patient with me as I looked over the menu. I decided on a grilled cheese and green split pea soup. It was hard to decide because there were so many yummy looking choices. Service was quick and efficient. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Everyone was very pleasant. The grilled cheese was perfect! So delicious! The split pea soup w/ homemade croutons and tiny bits of ham throughout sure hit the spot on this cold winter day. The place was very clean and cozy and there was a bit of a lunch rush so they definitely have a good reputation. Would love to see them expand their footprint. The first order of business was the Poison Fri (Fish) since I'm a pescatarian and love fish, I had to try it. It was one of the BEST fish dishes I've ever had in my life. The crisp on the skin was outstanding and the fish itself was so tender and tasty. The spices on the fish made it so good. I added the sauce that came with it and it upped the flavor. Beware that you're getting the whole fish so the bones are still in there, but that didn't bother me at all since I've had to deal with fresh fish all my life. There was also a side of some kind of slaw that came with the fish. I should have just put it on top of the fish, but instead I ate it by itself. It was delicious, but had a definite heat to it. Next time it goes on the fish. And I'll say it here but probably again that there will be a next time. They were having a special on mac and cheese so we ended up getting a few orders. It was very good. Nice cheese flavor. Another side order was the cabbage which was really tasty. We also had the plantains which were good. I didn't specifically have it but our friends said the Caesar salad was very good. We got two rices. Plain rice, which was fine and used for the what I can only guess was ox tail stew. I didn't try the stew but I heard it was good. We also got the veggie rice which was very tasty. The cornbread was another thing that was possibly my favorite of it's kind. So moist and full of flavor. It didn't need butter or anything added to it. Oh man it was so good. We also got the spinach but it had meat in it so I wasn't able to try it. Overall, it was a great experience. I'm definitely going back for the fish. Note to owners: You have something special here with your Seawelle Specials. They tell us they're not sure they can do that so we ask for a manager - the manager proceeds to talk over us and raises his voice and tells us "bring the food back and we'll give you a new meal" and hangs up on us. We will absolutely never be ordering from or eating at this establishment ever again and I suggest if you're vegan or vegetarian - you don't either, because they don't give half a shit about you.
