On this cold January day I was delighted to find this comfy spot to grab some soup to warm me up. Simply Soups & A Little More is a quant spot on the corner of E. Atlantic Ave near the train tracks in Audubon. Their menu drew me in as they offer a wide selection of soups by the day as well as sandwiches, wraps, grilled cheese, burgers and hot dogs. Just think cozy comfort food. The inside has ample seating if you plan to dine in and a small counter in the rear to order out. I was greeted by a friendly young lady who was patient with me as I looked over the menu. I decided on a grilled cheese and green split pea soup. It was hard to decide because there were so many yummy looking choices. Service was quick and efficient. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Everyone was very pleasant. The grilled cheese was perfect! So delicious! The split pea soup w/ homemade croutons and tiny bits of ham throughout sure hit the spot on this cold winter day. The place was very clean and cozy and there was a bit of a lunch rush so they definitely have a good reputation. Would love to see them expand their footprint. Let me just say that soups are pretty hard to find. I was minutes away from having a dessert for lunch when I finally found this business in my search that caught my eye. It's a cute and spacious cafe that's nicely decorated and have a few tables by the storefront windows. The menu is pretty large with plenty of sandwiches. The soup menu changes daily. I got a lunch special with a half meatloaf sandwich and a cup of pasta fagioli... One taste of the soup was enough for me to instantly tell the owner that I will be a regular. It is a cold and rainy fall day - a "soup day" here in South Jersey. The local diner didn't have a soup I liked today, so my daughter recommended this cute little corner spot. We ordered two kinds of soup - chicken corn chowder and cream of chicken and broccoli, along with beef stew and some desserts. The chicken corn chowder was thick and hearty, packed full of tender chicken and sweet corn. It was delicious - warm and comforting, the perfect chowder. The cream of chicken and broccoli was also a hit. Rich and creamy with shredded chicken and chopped broccoli, it was perfect on a cold day. Everything in our order was wonderful. I called the order in, and it was ready and packed to go within the ten minutes it took me to get there. The lady who took our order was friendly, and the shop is adorable - sort of a grandmom with attitude vibe. This is a must do now for us. We can't wait to try them all! read more

It's not "go out of the way to get" worthy, but it is a good little lunch if you're in the area. I got a quart of chicken orzo for about 13 dollars and a small cream of chicken for 5.25. The chicken orzo was decent. SO much shredded chicken. Essentially that was the entire thing- shredded chicken with a few carrots and some orzo pasta. It wasn't necessarily bad just kinda bland. We just moved to Audubon, and on the first "snow" day of the season we were realllllly in the mood for some nice, hot soup. Not being a soup chef myself, I was delighted when my partner told me about this soup-specific corner restaurant he spotted not far from our house. We stopped in about an hour before close on a Saturday. There were only two other patrons there and they were deep in conversation with the woman whom I presume to be the owner or at the very least long-time staff member. There were about 6-8 soups on the menu for the day (the menu seems to offer a different combo of soups depending on the day of the week). I inquired the hostess as to what her favorite soup of the day was one of the patrons immediately, without solicitation, told me that I needed to get the chicken orzo. Not being one to ignore the words of the wise, I opted for the 1/2 & 1/2 combo of a cup of chicken orzo and 1/2 of a pesto chicken wrap. My partner also ordered a 1/2 & 1/2, opting for chicken broccoli soup and a chicken caesar wrap. The soups came out immediately and were absolutely the perfect temperature. I am someone who cannot stand when their food is too hot to enjoy without traumatizing myself, so this was a huge win for me in a place where hot is the name of the game. We really enjoyed each of the soups we ordered, with each of us favoring the one we ordered for ourselves. One did not outshine the other. The wraps were okay at best. The chicken was yummy, but the wrap itself and the accouterments were fairly bland. Mind you, this is not a wrap place; it is a soup restaurant (duh) and the soup is where their strength lies. Before dismissing anything other than the soup, I would certainly be willing to go back and try a sandwich. This was a cute, homey, warm little hole-in-the-wall that I am glad to have found. Quaint, cash only, mom and pop restaurant with home cooking. Stopped in for lunch and had a delicious meal that consisted of a cup of chicken orzo, 1/2 sour dough bread turkey ham bacon grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of home brewed ice tea all for only $8.95. All the food was fresh and tasted great. Soup was hardy and not too salty. Sandwich was made fresh to order with quality ingredients. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and would highly recommend. One small fault was the tables and chairs in dining area needed some extra attention as they needed to be wiped down around edges and rails. Something sticky on the chair when I pulled it out. I entered for a early lunch. The luncheon is very homely and the ladies are fabulous. I ordered the French onion soup, bacon cheeseburger and cheese fries. The burger was so good, sirloin, thank you and very large. I could only eat a half. The broth in the soup was delicious . My co worked, ordered the chicken soup and a small chicken ceaser salad. The ladies were beyond friendly and very accommodating, they were consistently checking on us to make sure that everything wats satisfactory with the service. We will be visiting again. read more

Stay away from this horrid place! I used to live in the building and the owner of Simply Soups, Jackie, is an awful person. Not to mention, the food is terrible, the place is filthy, and she shrugs it off if you bring to her attention any problems. Get this, for a 1.5 years, my mail went missing. I finally tracked it to her bec Amazon sent me an image of a package mistakenly placed on her steps (still w my name on it). I confronted her and demanded my mail and packages returned in Dec 2020, recorded it all on my phone, in front of her shocked diners. She denied it at first, but i persisted. I wasn't leaving until she gave me my packages (my kid's Xmas gifts!). She finally went in the back and came back w a huge pile of my (opened and partially missing) boxes. Police declined to charge her but this woman is a thief!Jackie didn't even apologize. I even had another neighbor's stolen Amazon delivery in the mix of stolen mail of mine that I recovered and I returned that, too. This lady is terrible, and so is her food. read more

I am so grateful that this place opened in Audubon. We often bring meals in for my elderly mother-in-law. And they deliver too! Simply Soups provides a wide variety of soups, salads and sandwiches from which to choose. Every day they offer special sandwich deals, as well as about 6 different soups. Wednesday and Friday are chicken pot pie days. My mother-in-law especially loves the beef stew and the chicken salad sandwich. They have approximately 7 (?) tables in the restaurant, as well as a couple of tables outside on the sidewalk in nice weather. They only accept cash. read more

My girlfriend went here today and ordered a chicken pot pie which is only served on Wednesday and Fridays(I think). This alone is a great reason to go there. Let me tell you, this isn't something you can get from Shoprite to reheat. It has a homey feeling to it. I have tried two of the soups at Simply Soups, and I was disappointed. I had been wanting to try the soups for a while, and I'll admit that my expectations were somewhere in Soup Nazi territory. I tried the chicken corn chowder and the shrimp bisque. Both were lacking in flavor, very bland. Wawa's chicken corn chowder tastes better. Honestly, I will go again. I am hoping that I just happened to pick two soups that weren't their best, and something else will wow me. This is my favorite lunch spot in South Jersey! They have the BEST French Onion soup, it is literally the only French Onion I get anywhere, it is the real deal, remind me of my childhood kind of soup that you can't find anymore. If you happen to go on a day when the Apple Cake is there just buy it ALL...think I'm kidding? I follow them on Facebook and have actually asked if they will mail it to me when they advertise that they made it. It is so moist and delicious with so many real apples...words do not do it justice. When you stop in for lunch, grab something to go for dinner as well, then you don't have to make all the tough decisions (like if it's pot pie day, you have to get that but bring a soup home for later.) What a great find packed away off the main road on Atlantic Avenue. I drive past this place regularly and decided to finally check it out. They have a daily list of homemade soups available as well as sandwhiches and other lunch items. They have no website so you need to call or stop in to get a list. The list is the same every week, although I think they have specials. I went in for French Onion soup, and unfortunately they were already out of it at 1pm. That was why I only awarded 4 stars. I instead had a sweet potato soup with ham and pecans in it. It was delicious and filling. You could tell it was made by hand. A great place if you are in the area for lunch. read more

*ANTS IN SALT SHAKER* HORRIBLY RUDE MANAGEMENT* NEVER EVER EVER coming back again. If there are insects in the clear salt shakers on the table, and management "doesn't think its a big deal", god only knows whats back in the kitchen... I would give this place ZERO stars if I could based on management alone. My sister in law and I ate there for lunch today, ordered the Chicken Pot Pie which was mediocre. With my 1 year old nephew in tow, they regretfully advised us that they did not have any highchairs available. not big deal. It was the end of the meal that was awful. After we were done with our food, my sister in law spies ANTS in the salt shaker (which I used multiple times). I quietly showed this to a staff member, as I did not want to cause a scene. She took it back to the kitchen without even an apology. After we received our check, my SIL went to pay the bill and the servers needed help with the machine and asked the MANAGER and/or OWNER to come help with the transaction. I asked this person if she was advised of the insects in the salt shaker, and if so, why didn't she 1) bring us a new CLEAN salt shaker or 2) come out and apologize for the disgusting inconvenience. She ANNOYINGLY replied, and I quote, "Well I didn't say anything because I didn't think it was a big deal because you swallow spiders when you sleep". We told her that "this is your business and that we are paying for a meal that we expect to be insect free". Didn't think that was such a hard thing to ask. Our office decided to order from here for lunch and it was a filling lunch. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese and a small New England Clam Chowder. The ham and cheese was soggy from being wrapped up and the soup definitely needed salt and pepper, but better to need to add it my self than to have it over salted or peppered before it got to me. If they put the hot sandwiches into vented containers they wouldn't be so soggy... Hint Hint. :) All in all it was a tasty decent priced lunch (about $10) read more
