I'm from northern Maine, and my husband and I were recently traveling up there to spend Christmas and we had a friend with us. On our way, we were hoping for an excellent lunch, and Harvest Moon deli had good reviews, so we figured it was worth a try. The menu is a cute idea - themed around music (and presumably the name of the deli itself is after Neil Young, but not positive). There are a lot of options to choose from, but I landed on the chicken salad sandwich just because it's a classic and I was really in the mood for some. My sandwich was a disappointment. The bread was somewhat dry (especially the crust), the chicken salad itself was also dry as well. It was not flavorful, either. My husband's club sandwich had too much mayonnaise on it, so he ended up donating some of his mayo to my dry sandwich cause. (I didn't try his sandwich, but since his was toasted, he didn't experience the same dry bread issues). The deli seating area and bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly and the service was fast. I probably would give this another try someday if we needed to have lunch on the way up again, and I'd get something entirely different to compare. read more

This is a solid spot for good sandwiches. They make a good sandwich, though I have not found anything that is great or surprising. Conveniently, they have delivery via DoorDash, which is super, but little to crave. With the minimal food offerings in the area, it's nice to have the occasional sandwich offering, but various ingredients smashed between two slices of bread gets a bit old quickly. read more

On a road trip we saw Harvest Moon and decided to swing in for lunch. We are presently surprised with the food. Delicious sandwiches on fantastic bread AND plenty of vegetarian options since we are a family of 4/5 vegetarians. The service was friendly and the dining area was decorated with classical music record and other musical related items which was a nice touch. If we lived nearby, we would definitely come back again, but this is an excellent thing! read more

Wow. Just wow. Ordered two sandwiches from here today to split with my husband. We got the Spice Spice Baby and the Steak me home tonight. Both were incredibly good. The steak me home tonight was one of the best steak and cheese's I have had in the last few years (and I've tried many lol). The spice spice baby was a beautifully spiced chicken salad wrap (definitely order it cold and in wrap form). I haven't enjoyed a wrap like this since Portland. Absolute best in the area. I think the Spice Spice Baby is a monthly special so get it while you can! I'll definitely be going back. read more

I came in with an open bottle of water, I ordered a roast beef sandwich w/ cheese and all veggies to go. I didn't question the cost, $18, since I did ask for cheese and veggies (I assumed they were an extra cost). I just got home and the sandwich has one piece of roast beef, one piece of cheese and no veggies, and some mustard, it was the skimpiest sandwich I've ever had. I looked at the receipt and see that I was charged for the bottle of water I brought in. Not only that but the person that help spent her time complaining to another (probably regular customer) about the employee they had hired and fired today. Needless to say I feel ripped off and disappointed, not going back to this so called deli and I truly hope they are not really the best sandwich shop in the Bangor area, as they proudly tout on the window sign! read more

literally charged us $43 for two sandwiches and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. I have never been so unimpressed in my life. You need to drop your prices a little dude. That was utterly ridiculous. I added salami to my sandwich and was charged three dollars for that just for that. I was charged eight dollars for a very small cup of soup and last but not least $.75 for oil that was put on my food. Just ridiculous. read more

Went here when They first opened. Wasn't very impressed back then. I get a coupon for a free sandwich every year for my birthday. I just hand it over to my wife and say enjoy. She gets one about a month later and her and her mother go and eat there. The sandwich I ordered that day was very dry, tasteless and not very full. The staff seemed ok, but weren't the best either. It's been a couple of years since I was there. read more

One can get a variety of fresh great tasting sandwiches here. Hubby got one and I took a bite out of it. I wasn't hungry . All sandwiches are freshly put together once ordered. I took a star out because once ordered there is quite a wait to get your sandwiches. I can wait for great food but this took a little longer. read more

SEVERE FOOD POISONING!! As a group of four, we placed an order of four sandwiches, 3 including turkey, and one roast beef. The three of us that ate the turkey sandwiches all came down with identical food poisoning symptoms within 6-12 hours of consuming it (each of us puked 10+ times throughout the night, accompanied by unrelenting diarrhea, along with abdominal aches and nausea). We don't know if it was the mayonnaise or the turkey, but we are beyond certain that we contracted severe food poisoning from this establishment. When we called to inform them of the issue, their demeanor was combative, unapologetic, and flippant. read more

I cannot say enough about this little sandwich shop ... cool tunes playing in the background with some cool artwork all over the place on the walls and painted on as well. The sandwich selection here is pretty much to die for with all kinds of bread options for the sandwiches including the one that I had in the sunflower multi-grain bread on the salami and pesto pressed sandwich. The prices are right and he service is always fun as well. This time on top of the salami goodness I had, I had the homemade chili on a cold blustery day and a bag of kettle chips but the playlist playing some jam session bands like Grateful Dead, Phish and Dave Matthews made me relax some as I dove into my deliciousness. I had been to the one up in the Bangor area and didn't even know this one was here but was referred by a friend and was all over it like white on rice. I completely recommend this little hole in the wall for some great lunch! read more

I was driving south on I-95 and needed to stop for lunch. This place was the only non-chain restaurant on the signs from the highway, so I decided to give it a try. I had a chicken panini on focaccia, and it was really superb. The herbs in the bread perfectly complemented the ingredients in the sandwich. It was great! read more

Great and large turkey club that could easily have been a shared sandwich. The sandwich and the drink set me back $12 dollars but it was a good value. Order at the counter and you can help yourself to a seat in the dining area. They will call your name when your order is ready. For the most part sandwiches have humorous(corny) names based on songs of old. Dining area is decorated with music-related ornamentation, old vinyl records, and and album covers. read more

Very disappointed. The cole slaw was nasty. My sandwich was ok but the service was horrible. The guy said he would bring the sandwich out to my friend and I and it never arrived. It was just sitting there on the counter. If you are telling people you are bringing it to their table then do so. I will not be back. read more

Just an OK deli. They have a decent variety of sandwiches but what I find most bizarre is that they do not have a single sandwich that has more than one kind of meat. Really, even an Italian, a Maine staple has more than just one kind of meat, not here. If you want just very simple fare you can do worse. Unfortunately this is one of the best places in Newport. read more

Stopped by here because I was in town for work yesterday, and had an EXCELLENT turkey club on some of the best gluten free bread I've ever tasted. It was great to find a modern, accommodating deli in such a far flung spot like Newport. They also asked if my request for gluten-free bread was for an allergy (it was) and so they told me they would not put my bread through the toaster to protect it from cross-contamination. It was nice to know they took that seriously. I am looking forward to trying some of their other interesting sounding sandwiches next time I'm in town. read more

The employer was soo nice. We really liked him. The place atmosphere itself was not the best. The paninis were decent. We definitely had better ones. They were definitely not saucy enough. But definitely a better option than McDonalds or the other food chains. The plastic bag of the single pickle is unnecessary. Great sandwiches and salads! Our first visit and were very pleasantly impressed by how fresh, unique, and tasty everything we had was. The girl working there was extremely pleasant and made wonderful recommendations. The salads had tons of fresh lettuce and the sandwich bread was very good.
