We love SLO Veg! We have ordered their fruit & veggie itty bitty produce box weekly for 6+ years…read more We love getting quality, local, organic produce! It's so fresh, lasts significantly longer than produce purchased at the grocery store, and by eating with the seasons, we are getting a healthy variety of nutrients! We also love that we are getting our food from awesome local farmers and saving all the resources that transporting produce long distance requires. Picking up our weekly box is easy at a convenient local location. We also really love that they've more recently added a substantial amount of additional local market items to add to the weekly delivery of desired! We now get great sourdough bread, delicious baked goodies (like cinnamon rolls!), extra herbs or berries, and fun cheeses. There's also seafood and many other items available. And guess what?? We actually save money on produce. It's not more expensive to eat local organic foods. Highly recommend!!

Actually, quality kind of spoils you to never want to shop in the supermarket again. My family has even learned to "almost like" kale! What a time saver. It's the best thing I have done foodwise in a long time! Thank you SLO Veg. Margaret from AG

Yes, they do sell fruits and vegetables, but the main product here is Hot Pepper Jelly…read more I don't know why they call it "jelly", the texture is more like jam or marmalade with seeds and chunks of pepper flesh in it. And it is definitely not a sauce or paste, so it does not incorporate easily into room temperature liquids (like oil, vinegar, soy sauce, etc.). It is more like a "spread", so you need a little force to spread it. Another cooking option is to dissolve this jelly into hot oil (like stir fry). In fact, I recommend using their jelly in spicy stir fry. Afterglow looks like orange marmalade. It has citrus note, also. I use it for shrimp or chicken stir fry. It is made mostly of habanero pepper. Sting & Linger is made of mostly ghost pepper. I use it for beef or pork stir fry. Its spiciness kicks in slowly and stays and stays. Tastes smokey. Each jar is $8 at the time of this writing.

We found broccoli, fresh salad mix, yellow onions, oranges, jicama, brussel sprouts, and tomato plants. I got great canning tips from Kelly too. My favorite thing I found here today were the ~TAINT HOT~ Pickled Brussel Sprouts! They are amazing. Also had the pickled beets & these are to die for! And the salsa I picked up is perfected! We got a chance to sample three of the Hot Pepper Jelly's and they were great. As we left I got taste the pickled beets, which are next on my list to get! What a great place to visit. I highly recommend!

A small but mighty handy Tuesday Farmers Market that I have causally been looking for about several…read moreyears or so....ever since they relocated & I had not visited since their old location a few miles away. There is really no good way to see nor even suspect that there is a FM hiding here for the past two years, unless it is word-of-mouth or you happen to see it listed somewhere. To my confusion, I did recall someone telling me causally a year or two ago that they were at a Farm something or another, and did not connect the two. Even if you happen to drive in partway, you can still miss this market, especially at low season with fewer vendors. The good thing was not only were several there, but I knew two of them that are really good. I was also introduced to the organizer and another Farmer who was supernice & also has a tent up in Baywoods FM, and they sell some mean Dill Pickles & Prune Jam. Another Vege vendor is at about 4 or more other FM's. The Baker is at almost all of them too...[Breakin Bread]. The only other Tuesday FM is down in little Orcutt, which is just below Santa Maria, which I will also have to visit soon. In any case, it this FM here at the Farm Supply is kind of pleasant since you can explore all the really nice plants/flowers that are on sale at the Farm Supply Store. You may even wind up buying something really unusual, like us, with a rare Purple Lupine plant....which we only see rarely once on a hike in the areas mountains. What a cool local wildflower! On this particular Tuesday we were able to snag a variety of Avocado that we never tried before...I think it's name was "Sir-something or another". I have heard that there are at least 2 dozen different varieties of Avos & Supermarket Haas is likely one of the blandest of all. From one of our fav. Vege-Farmers, "Willy" [which I think is a nickname], we scored a nice huge Califlower, Spinach, & some other veges. He always has a great attitude and sunny disposition & is a pure pleasure to deal with. It is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area around Tank Farm Rd. or going to Trader Joes anyway. After this we headed for a total workout hike on Islay Hill which turned out to be a 6 mile ordeal for me. It is a good thing that we stocked up on some eats before that. In any case, this is a nice serene little FM run by super-nice people in a real nice setting. As the season progresses and more things rippen, it is likely to double or triple in size based on the size of their last location. The best thing was that it seemed to be mainly a local's secret...of course this post may alter that theory.
