I have used Harvey Baker Plumbing for almost 20 years and have usually been very satisfied with the service. This time was no exception given the technician, Juan, was amazing. He properly took care of an outside faucet issue that was "repaired" previously 24 months before. I noticed my outside faucet was slightly spraying water from the "repair part" recommended two years prior. In April 2024, I called Harvey Baker Plumbing to fix this faucet as it was leaking from the knob at the time. A young gentleman came and said he did not have the part on his vehicle to replace it (something to do with the pipe size), but he could "repair" it. However, I would not be able to turn the water on and off from the faucet knob. He said the nozzle at the end of the hose would serve as the on/off mechanism. When I discovered the current leak, I called and the receptionist said she could get someone out between 12-2 the next day. I explained the previous situation above and said I definitely want the faucet "replaced" this time. She looked up my previous invoice and said she would note on the ticket the faucet should be replaced rather than repaired. Next day, she called again and said she could have the technician come out earlier if I was available. I said I was and Juan came 15 minutes later, a little after 10am. He was a joy to work with, smiling and providing great conversation and expertise! I explained everything and he said he had the necessary part to rectify the leak. He did a great job. When I got the invoice, I noticed the parts only cost $33 compared to the "repair" part of $10. I was surprised the previous gentleman couldn't drive 4 miles to the office to get the necessary part and recommended the "repair" instead. I estimated I could have saved approximately $200 of labor charges had the work been properly completed the first time. I would have requested the previous technician get the necessary part had I known the difference in part costs was minimal. At least the "repair" lasted 2 years. I will probably continue to use Harvey Baker Plumbing in the future, but I'll make sure I request a more seasoned technician like Juan next time. Final note - Harvey Baker Plumbing now charges a 3% credit card fee on the invoice, which was not their practice previously. It was not a big deal to me ($7.75), and I understand a family business would prefer cash or a check. If I have a major plumbing issue in the future, at least now I am aware of the added fee. read more

Had a minor emergency over the weekend. Supply line was leaking. Naturally, on our side of the meter. Called Harvey Baker, left a message. First thing Monday, got a call back, had a plumber out to the house before 9:00 am. Caesar found the leak amazingly fast, and had it repaired in no time. Water heater replacement in a confined space under kitchen counter. Harvey visited to provide estimate, advised on options for replacing existing compact unit or installing new larger water heater in garage. Explanations were clear and comprehensive. On installation day the office called to confirm I was ready to support. Installers Wayne and Zack arrived on time, worked efficiently and carefully to avoid damage and keep work area clean. Removal of old unit was unusually difficult, requiring some disassembly of cabinetry which was done carefully and reassembled afterward. Wayne and Zack cleaned all areas affected and new unit solves the problem. This is my second experience with Harvey baker Plumbing and I expect to call on them for a much larger future job (decommissioning septic tank/field and connection to city sewer). Okay.... so I'm only giving a 4 & not a 5 because we had a broken pex pipe that we found leaking in our backyard when we returned home on Sunday after being gone 5 days. We like to reserve our 5 star ratings for when we are absolutely certain the repair will stay. There is supposed to be a 30 day guarantee on the service. We called on Sunday, but the pricing was a bit higher priced for the weekend & urgency. After discussing on the phone the problem we thought we could wait until the next morning on Monday (a regular business day). And the pricing for coming that Monday was very competitive. They definitely like to do things the right way, which isn't always cheap, but at least I gained confidence in their work. Good experience, despite having to do some masonry repair which I had to go to a third party for, but that's fairly normal stuff with plumbers. I we moved to florida 3 years ago and have had a lot of plumbing needs with our old house. Harvey baker was a go to until - few weeks ago when we had a terrible service call. One of our toilets was not flushing well so I called Harvey baker. The plumbers that arrived were younger folks I did not recognize from my previous calls. The augered the toilet once and it flushed. I was very happy to see it flush but concerned that it seemed like a small clog that I should've been able to clear up with plunging. I asked him if there was anything else I could do to make the toilet work better. They told me to replace the toilet and told me it was an old cheaper model. About an hour after they left the toilet wasn't flushing again. I called them back and they refused to offer any assistance without a completely new service call. They said we do not offer guarantees even if it seems that the problem was not fixed with the initial visit. I can understand this policy but as a repeat customer some pretty expensive work with them I feel like they could've refunded me the $180 they charge or taken for free. I also feel like the plumbers that came this time. We're not very knowledgeable or professional. One of them dropped a vape pen in my house. I'm always leery about picking a plumber or electrician or any company that I know nothing about. But since the appliance company I use and trust recommended them I did and boy, am I glad. I finally found a plumbing company I can trust. They came out, fixed the problem or so we thought. When the leak continued they came back out and actually found out what was causing the leak so we finally got to the source of the problem and now it can be resolved. Worst experience. Used them about two years ago to reconnect my sink and dishwasher after a countertop install. They charge by the hour and an easy job took almost 3 hours AND IT LEAKS!! After this was completed I called them back and was told the original person i spoke with did not take the proper notes and he needed another part which now i also had pay for and that is why it was 3x more than originally quoted. I called December 7th & spoke to a girl that told me she has been worked there for 32 years, one brother is gone but the other was there & I was excited to hear that! This is one of the a VERY few companies that offer smoke test. Had the hardest time finding one out here in orlando. Had a sewer smell coming from the bedroom, Joe was able to find the issue within about 10mins WITHOUT a smoke test. Turns out it was a cut pipe in the wall, ran the pipe up through the roof where it shoulda been. Per my request still did the smoke test just to make sure there were no other areas. Also had root intrusion which was addressed. Very lucky that i got Joe, his extremely knowlegable ,friendly, and gave me options for my plumbing situation. I'm pretty happy with this whole experience. The appointment scheduling, to the promised notification heading toward our house and their service tech Leo. Granted my job was a very unusual one and I anticipated whomever came out, would be reading the R&R instructions on this one. The solenoid at out kitchen faucet was "ghosting". (Solenoid operated means you only touch the metal to turn the water on or off. Ghosting means its turning on randomly without the touch) Leo without a flinch, jumps right into the instructions and then has at it under the sink. I could have done this job myself but because of all the other stuff going on under this sink, it looked way too much like heart surgery! (look at the pic! The red labeled unit needed to be R&R.) Plumbing is the first trade I will hire over most. I HATE PLUMBING and too much could go "WONG" under this sink! Done in less that 25 minutes Leo had time to call the Delta service line to diagnose a red light indicator vs. the blue light seen at the base of the faucet. Turns out Delta needed to replace the base unit also. So no fault of Harvey Baker Plumbing. And yes, when the base unit come in, we without hesitation will be calling them back to R&R the base unit. read more

Unreliable, schedule-wise. Harvey was here last year to give me a quote on installing my water softener. At that time, I decided not to install my water softener. I set up an appointment on 07/06 for Harvey to come over because although I still have the quote from last year, I no longer remember the plan (particularly where the salty water drain will go). Harvey was to come over today at 3:00 pm. Harvey called me at 2:24 pm and we talked about what was in last years quote. I told him I no longer remember what the plan was for the salty water drain, and that it might help me understand the plan better and for him to see if where the salty water would go if he would come over the house during our set appointment. He said the office will just call me. At 2:49 pm, I got a call telling me that Harvey could not come and that he was with a builder for some emergency. Harvey never communicated this during my call with him at 2:24 pm. I have already cancelled prior plans, and did not book appointments for 3-4 pm. read more

I called on Sunday due to a leak in my shower wall. I explained the problem. I was quoted $187/hr on Sunday and $125/hr during the week + parts. I scheduled for Tuesday morning. He arrived within the timeframe. He was here for 2 hrs. I was expecting a bill of $250 plus parts. Instead it was $780. Big difference. Bait n switch? If I explained the problem on Sunday when I booked the appointment, then I should have been informed about the different pricing. I had to pay $333 more. Total BS! The leak is fixed. Good quality work. But very disappointed about being misled about pricing. My review grade is solely related to pricing. I won't ever use this company again. read more

One very EXPENSIVE clogged kitchen sink! I was charged $250 to unclog/snake one kitchen sink that took less than 30 minutes. I can't believe the excessive price gouging for this service. I can understand if there was time taken to prep the area, remove any items or excess water, etc., but I took care of all that and had the area prepped for the technician. I even provided extra towels, bowls and a real flashlight instead of his phone flashlight. The unclogging left more of a mess to clean than expected. Included in the invoice was a $10 miscellaneous charge, for what I don't know. I even called the office to make sure I wasn't accidentally overcharged. The response, without hesitation: "Nope, that's the right price". Ouch! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to wait for a better priced plumber. Next time, I'll wait! read more

Update: was 3 stars, now 2 because the plumber took some parts we already had and paid for with him. He took a braided water line to the fridge (he didn't do any work on the fridge) and he took a rubber gasket to the faucet. These parts came with the faucet and fridge when I bought them. We needed some mild plumbing done in our kitchen: install kitchen sink with plumbing, install dishwasher, and install a water line to the fridge. Most of the work completed was good quality but overall we will not use them again. They quoted us around $400 which I thought was a bit high to begin with for the jobs we needed but that was based off of about 4 hours of work and we agreed. So 5 hours go by and only the sink and dishwasher and are done...except the faucet was installed wrong and the sink wasn't caulked and he left a mess in the kitchen with a leaky bucket of dirty water. We just asked him to leave at that point because I wasn't happy with how long it was taking (they charge hourly). We ended up fixing the faucet and sealed it ourselves. We're pretty handy and have done 90% of our home reno projects ourselves but were hoping to just pay professionals to get this done quickly. Oh well. Looks like next weekend we'll be running the water line to the fridge. read more

We counted on the them to detect a pipe leak in our bathroom sink but they failed to deliver. The guy who came reattached the pipe and said everything was back in use. The day after I turned on the faucet in the sink, the pipe bursted and water flooded my bathroom. I made an emergency called to them at 6pm and after explaining the situation the very first reply I heard from the girl who answered the phone is "if it's not related we are gonna charge $95 an hour to fix". !??? We weren't expert so we called you guys and counted on you to detect the problem. Please keep in mind when doing business pls don't always mention money. Great family business! My water heater went out right before Christmas when I had no time and the home full of visitors. Harvey Banker Plumbing installed a new water heater after hours in a one-day turn around and for a fair price (cheaper and friendlier than all the other places I had consulted). I live in a downtown condo with limited parking and some other difficulties (tight space, elevators, gates, etc.), but that was no challenge for Mr. Baker, Jr. He drained the old heater, did not make a mess (my water heater is in my bedroom closet surrounded by carpet!), and offered to dispose of it. He brought a fitting new heater and overflow pan, installed it quickly, managed to cut down the metal pipe fittings that were too big and provided my household with running warm water in no time!
