I saw the sign and I love the name so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a pizza to take on my drive to Lafayette. It was a pretty darn good Pizza very happy with it later on on another trip. My wife didn't wanna have pizza she wanted a Reuben I wasn't with her but when she came home and had half a sandwich, I thought I hate Rubens, but then I smelled hers and had to try it. I didn't know that I liked Ruben's but if it's done with quality ingredients Harvey Hinkle Myers did a wonderful job and now I have Ruben's much more often. Asked for chicken and BBQ on a pizza. The waitress came back with a pizza with peppers and onions and etc, with no trace of chicken. I then mentioned this to the waitress and she told me it is what I ordered then stated that I ordered the chicken bacon ranch. She then checked her notes and went oops I meant chicken bbq, that's what u got. I then told her that all I wanted was a bbq pizza with chicken on it and she proceeded to correct me and tell me I got a chicken and bbq pizza and that I ordered it wrong. One of my favorite pizza places! Anytime my family is in town we try to make a stop at Harvey's. We love their pizza! We always opt for the extra large 20in so we have plenty to take with us for another meal. Their special cheese blend is delicious. My family also likes their tenderloins which Indiana is known for. They actually have a large menu of different sandwiches, salads, and pastas so their is something for everyone. We also like to get sodas with the cherry syrup. Used to be the best pizza anywhere. Last 4 out of 5 times there the pizza was inferior due to the crust.

My daughter and I came here for dinner an hour and a half before they closed we ordered soup and salad bar, as we went up to get our food they were already broken down for closing, so we had to order something else. Really shouldn't start breaking things down until closing time! Considering the waitress let us order and brought us plates KNOWING it was already broke down, if you inconvenience your guest you should provide a discount at least! Nothing offered and I didn't eat what I came for in the first place. VERY upsetting! read more

I really loved everything about this place. We had pizza and chicken fettuccini Alfredo. Both were excellent. It came with salad and garlic bread, which were very good as well. I could tell everything was made with care, and with fresh ingredients. The staff are all very friendly, and our server was top notch. Personally, I was less than impressed with Harvey's. To start with the positives: They had great service. The menu had a lot of variety. All options were affordable (around $5-$8). Negatives: The inside was very cold. The food was less than great. When I go out to eat, I want to be somewhere that makes better food than I can make in my own... I didn't get that from Harvey's. Tonight was the worst service we have ever had. We only saw our waitress twice during the entire meal. She took our drink order which literally took forever to get and then she took our food order. She never returned to the table. Our food was delivered by another waitress who ended up refilling our drinks. I got chips and salsa. It was $5 for a small basket of chips and a very small container of salsa. We would have asked for more but since the waitress was MIA, we couldn't. My husband had a little Harvey and the sauce was so minimal, you could barely see it or taste it. I had 2 soft shell tacos and they were okay. Loved it. We had a pizza with hamburger, sausage, and meatballs. The pizza was one of the best pizzas of any kind I've ever had! The crust was delicious and the sausage was terrific with fennel seeds that gave it just the right pizzazz to blend with the cheese and crust. Delicious Reuben as well. I have eaten a lot of pizza in my lifetime, and I have never had pizza that comes close to being as good as Harvey's. Every ingredient in their pizza is superb: it has a light, floury, slightly sweet crust that serves as a base for fresh tomato sauce with tons of cheese and delicious toppings. I really feel like every slice of Harvey's that I eat makes me a better person in some way. It's set as a 1950s restaurant, and they go a little heavy on the Coca Cola memorabilia. I've never had a problem with service here, although they do get busy, and if you order a pizza on a Friday night it can take around 45 minutes to be ready. I simply cannot recommend a pizza place more highly than Harvey Hinklemeyers. I have never had a bad experience with waitstaff, and I have never had a dish that I would consider less than delicious. Please go and enjoy Harvey's, it is an absolute treasure for a town like Peru. read more

A long time ago the BLT pizza was pretty good, but my son was a big fan of the Josie fries. Service was S L O W although they weren't crowded (mid afternoon) . He ordered them and a soda. What seemed like 10-15 minutes later, they arrived - grease soddened, cold (obviously reheated) and even the cheese was getting hard. Seemed like a long time before the waitress came back to the table and he told her that they weren't good. She didn't offer to get a new plate, nor did she take it off the bill even though he didn't eat them. We finished up our drinks and left. Very disappointing. Both of these things far outweigh the fact that they have a lot of food on the menu. Maybe have less selection and concentrate on making what food you serve is good. We are traveling on US 31 and searched Yelp for a place to eat near Peru. Found Harvey's and very glad we did! The breadsticks are awesome and the breaded tenderloin sandwich was delicious..,and huge! Glad my husband and I split the sandwich after enjoying the breadsticks. I had heard of it and now I have tried it! Yummy! Paul and Richard, two Irish brothers from Ohio came to Peru, IN in the '60s where they developed their skills in bakery trade--they established a bakery by morning and a pizzeria by night. As the business expanded, a catchy name was developed and Harvey HInkelmeyers was chosen. The restaurant has relocated a couple of times and the menu has changed to include some Mexican cuisine. Most popular though are the homemade breadsticks, sandwich buns, Italian bread, and pizza dough that are all made fresh daily and include no preservatives. Bushes may make their baked beans with a secret recipe, but Harvey's has a special sauce for their pizza that can't be beat! I had the small lasagna dinner and wondered what the large portion must be like, as the small portion was more than adequate. My friend had the Pasta Di Bolognese which looked amply delicious. There is much on the menu to try that can tempt one to come back over and over again. I'm thinking that I need to try their homemade cinnamon bread loaf one of these days. It was crowded-- the parking lot was full. That told me something good was being served up. The place is located across the street from the bigtop--Peru is the Circus City Capital of the World. Love Harvey's! They have the best pizza's. My favorite's by far are the BLT pizza with mayo and the Sausage, pepperoni & mushroom pizza. Fresh cut French fries with cheese and bacon, side of ranch are delish too. Bread sticks and wings are a regular buy as well. For dessert they make a cinnamon sugar bread. It is great for sharing.
