Swiss Chalet / Harvey's at 3400 Danforth Ave, Toronto

I've been going to various Swiss Chalet's across Ontario for over 30 years. Usually, they are very good. However, recently, with the introduction of "chalet seasoned" fries, the reduction in portion size and price increases, plus a $4 "service fee" when I ordered online ... makes me knock a star off. I should probably knock it down to 3, but, most of this isn't the stores fault, and delivery from them is always hot, and delicious. Speedy, not so much, though.

    Review Highlights - Harvey’s

My only issue is that Swiss Chalet accepts the Scene card and the cashier didn't ask me if I had one.

They have $9 and $10 lunch specials which include a pop, a side of fresh cut fries, and various options such as burgers ($9) and pita wraps ($10). There's no need to go too in depth with describing it, just that you know when everything is made to order and things like the meat and fries are from fresh and not frozen, it's going to be good. At the end of the tournament the kids were also hungry, so we went back. I had the Gyro dinner, and there were more burgers and wraps ordered for the others. The gyro plate had the classic sides (pita, lemon potatoes, rice) and all were solid. The gyro itself - and the most important - was absolutely delicious and some of the best I've had. I think the platter was about $17. All was very reasonably priced, even when not during the lunch special. You can dine in and though you order at the counter, they service on real plates and the (optional) rate of tipping isn't pushed nearly as high as most places. Anyone living nearby are lucky to have this place as a go-to.

Very flavorful and has the hint of smoke grill taste with a juicy tasty patty. The home fries were nice and wasn't frozen so I loved that. My friend got the chicken souvlaki dinner and it was okay but the chicken he felt was a bit dry. He wouldn't order it again he mentioned. The prices are a bit more than fast food for obvious reasons but the quality is worth it. Otherwise, 7/10 would recommend

They also make sure to fill the inside of the cone so you're not stuck with an empty cone when you get to the bottom. I've had their delicious ice cream cakes at many parties. Their ice cream cakes are actually THE ONLY ones I've seen at my friends' parties: that speaks to their popularity. Today I was in the mood for a drink. I was thinking of getting their strawberry shake since they use real fruit. Had a lovely convo with the staff (she's the one who also decorates the cakes) who told me about her favorite drink, an off menu item called the DQ freeze. It combines ice cream with their Arctic Rush drink (slushy). I'm always up to trying something new; give me one using the cherry slushy please. The staff was worried that I wouldn't like it and offered to make me a shake if I didn't. It tasted like a cherry creamsicle: took me a minute to decide if I liked it, but it grew on me. DQ is my go to for soft serve when I want something better than cheapy McDonald's ice cream.

It was a huge piece and it was so crispy and juicy and fresh out of the fryer! The biscuit was tasty too. First time at this Victoria Park and Danforth location and the service was fast and friendly. While driving along this street to get to…read moremy destination, I noticed this Church's Chicken at the southwest corner of Victoria Park and Danforth avenues. This eatery is considered a part of Shoppers World. It had caught my attention. I drove by it heading home. I decided to pull over at a plaza at Birchmount and Danforth roads (it used to be a Burger King years ago, but it's now a Timmy's) to look at my food apps. Church's Chicken had a deal on Uber Eats. If you bought a side, you got another one for free. Yay! I ordered the following items: - Coleslaw (BOGO) - Five-piece chicken tenders combo, with a honey butter biscuit, and your choice of drink (I got a Diet Coke) and side (I got gravy) - Six honey butter biscuits My order was estimated to be ready in fifteen minutes. Sweet! I slowly made my way back to Shoppers World. I parked and looked around the area before my order was ready. Coincidentally, there is a Burger King next to it. High school memories of eating at BK flooded in. There's a lot of parking. Shoppers World had a ton of parking. I parked and headed inside. I spoke with a woman who was behind the counter. I said that I had an Uber Eats order. She looked and started to pack everything together. I found the scrambling to be a bit odd. If my order was ready, wouldn't it be somewhat packed? I don't know. Anyway, she was friendly. She asked whether I wanted any dipping sauces for my chicken tenders. You do need to shell out extra ($0.50 each) for sauces at Church's Chicken. I didn't get any, as my gravy side was perfect. She was funny. She was trying to figure out how to hand the bag over to me. She quickly dropped her arms and said that she'd stop fussing over it. I grabbed the bag handles and thanked her. I walked out happy with my food, placing my food in my huge insulated bag. I then drove home to have a late lunch at 3:30 pm. I love the chicken tenders here. It's white meat with the right amount of batter and seasoning that's deep-fried to perfection. I normally get the four-piece, but was hungry and went with five. They were delicious and exactly the way that I like them. I dunked the chicken tenders in gravy. It wasn't salty. It had decent flavour. Yum! The honey butter biscuits here are the best. They are addictive. I got six on top of the one that came with my meal. I had two of them during this meal. They are crunchy, buttery, soft, and so good. They are the best! They heat up nicely the day after you get them. I got two small orders of coleslaw. I love the coleslaw here. It's creamy and the veggies are crispy. I had one with my meal and the other the following day. It's so good! In the past, you got a fountain drink with a combo meal. During this pandemic, drinks are now in cans. I got a cold Diet Coke. You can't mess with the formulation when it's in a can. I am happy that there's this Church's Chicken at Shoppers World. I'd return to get my biscuit and chicken tenders cravings when I'm in the area. (78)
