Kudos to Hasta La Pasta. They may have a silly name, but their food and service are seriously great!!! We love everything here! The bruschetta & spinach artichoke appetizer is a must have, pizzas are awesome, sausage & peppers small plate is yummy, lasagna is great and shrimp scampi is good too! Good wine list & full bar!! The staff aims to please! That alone is becoming more rare in the quick serve sector!! We eat here about twice a month when we're in town and have never been disappointed. Well, what can I say...I came to this place about eight years ago, not memorable to say the least. The wife and I were craving pasta this week and so we hit the Facebook groups, the yelps, the zomatos and the local word on the street, to my amazement Hasta La Pasta was a name that kept resurfacing. So we walk into a GHOST TOWN. there was one table getting ready to leave as we arrive. Weighing my next move against all the positive reviews i read and heard in the last 24 hours I decided to take the plunge...and boy did i sink... The menu was nice, I actually took a quiet sigh of relief...but hta relief was short lived...The order was simple: two alfredo's, one chicken one shrimp; the kids had chicken fingers and Spaghetti and Meatball. The waitress took the order and asked what salad we would like to have with it, we both chose the ceaser. The service was ok, it was a little to informal for the formal setting the restaurant boasts. The waitress leaning on the table, a lottle outof her comfort zone, but she was always available as the restaurant grew in number of guests. from one table (us) to about 6. The Salad hits the table: The Look: well it was hard to see under all that pre-cut then refrigerated and served cold Parmesan cheese. Once I parted the Parm-C , see what i did there ;), I saw a frostbitten sorry excuse for a side salad... I took a bit just so that I can properly review it. Well that was the only bite I needed. Refrigerator cold lettuce, soggy croutons (from sitting in a fridge with moist lettuce and cheese). both salads went un-eaten. Then came the entrees. Obviously store bought pasta in a very generic sauce, no flavor whatsoever, both wifey and I had to salt the plate heavily. And that beautiful garlic flavor you would expect from a alfredo was amiss. Chicken dry/Shrimp flavorless. My son, who will devour any form of spaghetti and meatball took one bite and left it for dead. Kids say the darndest things: waitress asks how everything is, he yells out "I don't like it". I tasted his meal, the sauce was overly sweet, the meatball was overly breaded and also very bland. This was our second visit to this restaurant. Since this was our second visit the first visit was obviously good. We had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, my wife also ordered the soup of the day which was Tuscan chicken. I had the lobster ravioli and my wife ordered the lasagna. The food was good, although the shrimp that came with the lobster ravioli was a bit tough and tasted a little off. One issue was they are undergoing remodeling so the inside smelled like paint and industrial glue, but it was a nice evening and they have nice outdoor seating so we got a table outside. The other issue was the service. The waitress was very nice, but didn't seem to be trained very well. We expected the appetizer first, with my wife's soup, then the salads, then the meal. We got the salads first which was also delivered with my wife's soup, then the appetizer and the meal so we were working on everything all at once which was a little off. It was late and near the end of the meal we seemed to have been forgotten. When she finally came back we asked for the check, and it was a good 12 minutes between asking for the check and signing the tab which was a little long to wait. The waitress did apologize for the delay and I was guessing she was handling busy work they have to do at the close of the day so we excused it, and my wife and I enjoyed the evening and conversation while we waited. In the end the reason I didn't give 4-5 stars was simply the experience and shrimp, but we will be back again. I'm guessing the reason things weren't perfect is because they are humans. read more

I returned to Hasta La Pasta in Katy, after not having eaten there in approximately a year. I had always enjoyed their food and service....until last night. Our rolls weren't cooked and my pasta arrived lukewarm (at best). The sauce was very bland and even though my portion was quite large, it had no taste. We had three different servers; our "main" server was very personable and courteous, but her "helpers" were rude. One of them, a young woman, acted like she couldn't get us out of there fast enough, even though the restaurant was far from packed. When I asked for a "to go" box, the young man who was attending to our table acted like I had given him a Herculean task. He seemed put out! The pasta dishes are simply delicious. The service was absolutely perfect. The waiter was able to help us make selections from the menu by asking us our personal preferences. The food here is good, it is on par or slightly above Macaroni grill, and better than Olive garden. You won't think you are in Italy when you eat here, but then again, you also don't have to wait as long than if you were actually there. I came hungry. And I mean: Hungry. My husband got a canneloni that had a mexican type sauce that just didn't go with italian food. Wine also was unimpressive. If you like the ambiance of the parking lot they also have a gazebo right next to it where you can sit outside! I have been to this location several times, but this is the first time I was a bit disappointed. First of all, we arrived on a Saturday about 4:30 almost 5 p.m. when we walked in , it was very slow. We stood at the front for a couple minutes before anyone came over to acknowledge us. There were employees & management congregating and talking, but no one hurried over to acknowledge us. The employees were sweeping and cleaning. I noticed 1 employee waiting on tables. The young man that finally came over to assist was very cordial and nice. We asked for a booth and he obliged. Our order was taken in a timely manner. Our Food was delivered in good time. We did notice this restaurant has a different menu from the other location in Spring. We were a but disappointed, but it's ok we didn't know they were different. We didn't care for the spinach dip because it tasted & looked like a white cheese and spinach mix. We ate some of it and didn't complain. We didn't finish it & that's unusual. Hasta La Pasta is one of our favorite restaurants, but we live so far we don't come out often. The main course and the Caesar salad were good. Ok, I really hate mentioning this, but we were appalled when our waiter started dishing up our food, he grabbed each piece of toasted bread with his bare hands & put them Into the box. This is a no no. Why would I want his hands on each piece of toast? We threw it out as soon as we got home. Also, while we were there, a young man came into that location to apply for a job. The young men (greeters ) were very respectful & cordial to this young man. Honestly, the young man looked and smelled as if he was homeless. He was clearly disheveled. He had been hanging around the outside of the store prior to going inside. Your employees smiled at him & asked what he needed. They told the mgr's that there was a man that wanted to apply for a job. This location has a "Now Hiring" banner outside. One of your employees I produced himself to the tattered young man & shook his hand. I thought that was very nice. There was a lady mgr that came to the front, looked at this young man in disgust & walked back to the back. There was another mgr that was a man that had already been told this young man was there to apply for a job. But he kept talking at the bar. Finally, he came over with an application, but it was obvious that he was disgusted. We overheard ALL of the conversation & it wasn't professional, in my opinion. I won't go through the details here, but I had to explain the situation that had transpired to my daughter. Grant it, the young man's appearance was not of someone who was applying for a job, but he definitely was in need of a job. He didn't need to be belittled by the manager. I wasn't in the mgr's position, so maybe he handled it the best way he knew how. However, 2 employees had arrived for their shift and it looks as if they were new employees. They stood at the front for a while, then the Male mgr looked at them & said in a curt voice, "you 2 can go to the back." There was no hello or how are you, no smile, nothing. That manager didn't smile at us either and he did look at us. Btw: there were two other people applying for a job. These two were female. The female mgr did come out and speak with those 2 females regarding a job. It seems like their conversation went fairly well. Ok, that's enough. I guess it was a different kind of day. Wife suggested this Italian place on a whim and it seems out of place within a grocery store connected shopping center. Inside the place is well laid out and classy enough for shorts & sandals or nice evening wear. The menu seems a little sparse and I wasn't really impressed with the selections, it certainly has the basics of an Italian restaurant but places like the Olive Garden or J. Carino's have a wider selection. However, I did give this place a 4 star rating for something. There is a signature dish of the same name of the restaurant, Hasta La Pasta. It is fettuccine with yellow and red pablano peppers, some kind of jalapeno sauce, and a meat of your choice. Seems a little spicy, but it was really tame and absolutely delicious. I love spicy foods, but I'm sort of a weakling when it comes to how hot it gets and yet this was pleasantly hot enough as well as filled with great taste. My mouth is watering thinking about. My only complaint isn't necessarily related to the restaurant, but to how its rated online price wise. Yelp seems to have a correct approximation of the price, but every other review style page tends to list it around 10 dollars. The meal for my wife and I came out to be about 30 dollars instead. Hasta La Pasta is a small but well run restaurant. I am a regular there. this is a good family restaurant and I recommend it if you want Italian-American food. This restaurant is smallish but well run and the service is good but you are waited on by kids most of the time - regardless they do a great job. The menu is a bit limited but what they do, they do well. I've tried most of the dishes and find them good to amazing depending upon what you order. It is a pretty standard menu. No surprises. I will note that they used to give you some fresh bread and a plate/bowl of olive oil and pesto for you to munch on while the food was coming. They replaced this with your standard slices of garlic buttered bread that has been over toasted in the warming light. I'm not amused - they are cutting costs on something that they did well. their pesto was very good. I try to stay away from butter and salt and prefer olive oil. I sure didn't like them doing that. it's a mood breaker. -- to me, just cheap. One thing they do good is their marinaras. I like their spicy marinara doled out on a plate of pasta. I figured it would be a casual place since its located in a shopping strip. When I entered we were seated in a dining area that was candle lit with a live musical trio. I felt that my flip flops were out of place. Also, most of the patrons were an older crowd. The food was good a bit expensive for what you get. Pam makes my day every time I stop by! It's been rough out there with COVID, but I trust this business with my food because of their high standards for cleanliness. I don't worry when I order the 4 for 35 even though I have immunocompromised people in my family. When I showed up for my order (two separate 4 for 35s) it only took 15 minutes for me to receive my order even though I ordered it in the PARKING LOT!!! Pam really went the extra mile by providing sanitizer in the establishment and went as far as to CLEAN MY DEBIT CARD FOR ME before AND after running it. I also got some bomb frozen margs that really hit the spot. And I can't even begin to harp on the quality of the food. The creamy pesto is some of the best dressing I've ever had in my life. The meat in the lasagna sticks to the noodle and the cheese is so thick and juicy I simply full white gurl can't even. Today was my first time trying it. I call for pick up got the la mare and the Cajun pasta and some calamari as well. The calamari had a lot of artichokes but it was good taste. The pasta la mare needed more flavor and it was dry not so good and more sea food. This restaraunt was the scene of my first date with my wife over 16 years ago at their old location on Hayes Rd. We have been coming to the Katy location since we moved out here over 14 years ago, and love that little has changed in this solid Italian venue. You can't miss with the Chicken Verona or Piccata. The lasagna is awesome as well. While I am not a fan of their spagetti, the Chicken Parmesan is fantastic. The pizzas are solid, and the seafood dishes do not disappoint.
