So I broke out my UT hat and headed down. I just happened to have enough points in the app to get some free fries too, so I made a meal out of it. Honestly their fries are what I love the most, but the juicy burger on the sweet roll bun hit the spot to. Plus I was in team spirit with a room full burnt orange folks. I've been to a number of Hat Creeks. This one was just as busy as the rest, but I had to come to Yelp to mention how well Monica handled the crowd. She was very professional, organized and informative about the menu, all with a good attitude. It's surprising to see a place in this part of town with a playground but this restaurant has one and it's in great condition, albeit small, very safe for the kids. Well, While parking can be a bit tough around the crowded time, there is usually parking in the back of the lot. Staff is effective and efficient, but not overly friendly. Food itself is good, I'd say above average compared to more fast food burger places. Fries are great and some are some of the sauces. Milkshakes are also pretty good. Kids burgers are tiny. So, probably ok for under 8, but I'd be skeptical going older than that. My 10 year old was still very hunger. Quality wise, think PTerry's - but more expensive IMO. But you do get a kids playground which is great especially for the younger kids. Place is in decent shape. It won't wow you, but won't disappoint either. read more

I have to admit, I've become a fan of Hat Creek burgers for a variety of reasons. Price wise, they're pretty much in line with In-N-Out burgers, but they also offer vegan, Paleo, and Keto choices. The burgers here tend to be a little larger than In-N-Out and the fries taste much better than those terrible starch sticks served at In-N- Out. They also have some unique, if not unusual shake choices. There's also a wider choice of burgers and some sauces to go with them. But best of all, when it's time to settle up at the register, unlike most establishments, you will not be hit with that obligatory tip screen trying to get the last dollar out of you before you sit down. This location also offers a play scape for the kids and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The only thing that keeps this from being a five star review is the fact that the chocolate shake for the money was quite small and the serving of fries is also on the small side. One nice thing they do have is they serve beer, which does set them apart. I had the "Big Hat" combo with fries. the burger itself was pretty decent. Nothing absolutely mind blowing, but I got what I paid for. Same for the fries. they do have a couple sauce options available for free, which is nice, as being charged 25 cents for some sauce is sort of annoying. all things considered, I'd put this place at slightly above a 3/5. read more

This was my first time at this chain and the employee I interacted with answered all of my questions and with a smiling face. I particularly had questions about the different sauces that are offered. There's no hats or creeks in sight but there is burgers! We have been here a handful of times and recently saw an elite friend, Heather, get a veggie burger here. My teenage son is a vegetarian and we are on the quest to find him the best damn veggie burger we can. To her suggestion he added jalapenos but he passed on the grilled onions. The patty is crisp and the flavor was great! He said it is definitely a veggie burger he'll be wanting again. I went for the grilled chicken sandwich and thought it was good but not as good as their burgers. My other son had their cheeseburger and as usual, it was tasty. We also got their sweet potato fries. Usually we get a fun shake here but passed on it this time. For condiments they have a unique fry sauce here that may have some honey mustard in it or something different. Either way, it was good. Good turkey burger; my daughter says the Vege' burger is a plus. Like the fries, but more so the Tots! I've got to say, while driving along Burnet, you run into this big red barn, and my first thought was, "Why is there a farm in the middle of Austin?" Little did I realize that it was a hamburger joint in Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown. So, after realizing that I have some $5 gift cards from a UT event, I think it was about time to go visit there one afternoon. When you go in, you are invited to an amazing smell of hamburgers and milkshakes. But this is not your ordinary smell walking into any hamburger joint, this place has something special that other places don't. The staff is very nice and friendly, the burgers were a surprise to me (especially the Turkey one), the fries are similar to P.Terry's (queue the dun-dun-dunnnnnn piano music) and the drinks are like your typical soft drinks. Okay, just like Kelly S., I too have been intrigued by Hat Creek. I have driven by that re-painted Arby's-icon-of-a-sign and thought it was odd - - I'm not used to seeing it in those colors. Some could say it's an eye sore, some may think it's quite unique, I'm just wondering if this place will live up to the burger hype? Where do they fit in w/ the Dan's / Fran's / Casino's of the world? It was a weekday evening, not much business here. You walk in and the place feels like the construction is incomplete - - with the unfinished cement floors and some areas are rough around the edges. The kitchen is wide open and clean, but not too much action going on. Regardless, I look at the menu and go for their Big Hat Cheeseburger combo (two 1/5 lb patties). Price: $7.57. Yeah, it's little on the steep side, although, it's not quite the "Mighty Fine highway robbery", but close. An indication that a place could potentially be overpriced is that they won't post their actual pricing menu online (website) which is the case for Hat Creek. After all, a $7.57 2/5lb cheeseburger combo could scare those meal-dealers away. Also - some businesses get savvy with their serving size, in this case while everyone is used to the normal 1/4lb or 1/3lb patty, Hat Creek's are a thinner 1/5 lb patty. Jalapenos and grilled onions are free upon request, so I told the cook to load up the jalapenos. Got a Sprite from their fountain - - didn't taste good - - it's that terrible Austin water after taste that hits you. Oh well, I'll deal with it. The burger was really good, I'd say good enough to go back. And I really like their fries - -on the thin side, crispy, some skin on them. I'd say they match up pretty well with Dan's Hamburgers, and it's worthy of a showdown for sure. So even though the price is somewhat premium, the Sprite is tainted w/ that local water after taste, and the place seems unfinished, the burger and fries were solid which keeps Hat Creek at 3.5 stars....I'll just round up to 4. Should Dan and Casino be worried? Naaahhh. Competition is good for the soul. read more

Love this place... The Burgers are freaking spot on and the fries are in the running for best around town... They are super nice to the kiddos and offer both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
