Heard great things about this place so came on a Sunday around 11:30 am to see if it was worth the hype. When I walked into the restaurant, there were 6 people standing ahead of us at the hostess stand. Tables were emptying out but no one even acknowledged our existence for - no exaggeration- 15 minutes. We made conversation with the people around us that it was almost comical that no one even said they'd be with us in a moment. It was odd and we almost left and walked to The Buttered Biscuit down the street, but we stuck it out. Once we were seated we were given a tiny placard to scan the menu with our phones. Service after being seated was surprisingly consistent after our long wait time to be seated with no acknowledgment from staff. I have a gluten allergy and the online menu did not have specific information showing what was GF or GFA. When I asked the sever about it she rattled off some GF options but of course I couldn't remember all of them, having them marked on the menu would be so helpful. I ordered the Birria Omelette but chose to have the tortilla strips on the side since they were in a shared fryer. The dressing for the side salad was light and tangy. The omelette was supposed to be French style but wasn't creamy in the middle. Birria meat was tender and kind of overwhelmed the overall taste of the omelette. I also had an iced decaf mocha latte and it was good, not too sweet and pretty much coffee flavored chocolate milk. My dining companion had the classic French toast, which looked delicious and he really enjoyed it but I didn't taste it because "gluten." It's a 30-minute drive and I visited on a Sunday at 1pm. They close at 3pm. The first thing I asked for was the French toast. They stated that they were out of French toast. Next I asked for Lobster Benedict. They ran out of lobster. The lobster, I can understand. It's seafood. You want it to be fresh and also I think it was a special that day. But how does a brunch restaurant run out of French Toast on the busiest brunch day of the week and you have 2 hours of service left? Not a good impression at all and I was very disappointed. If I wasn't so hungry, I would have walked out. I settled for the Liam's Favorite pancakes which was good and very filling, but I just wasn't in the mood for pancakes. Seasoned potatoes were good. After a poor experience in their Metuchen location, I was hesitant to give this location a try until I was convinced by my family. We wanted somewhere nearby to go for Brunch by the shore on Easter morning and Hatch 44 fit the bill. Inside we were pleasantly surprised to find there was no wait and the menu had a wide variety of options available. The menu, was entirely digital, but they had an iPad available as well in case you couldn't scan the QR code for whatever reason. One section of the menu is very strict about not allowing substitutions. In fact that was the entire reason I had such a poor experience at the other location is the server there had refused all alterations of the menu, to the point where they wouldn't even serve me scrambled eggs. I'm happy to say here, that level of strict control was absent as there was no issue in substituting the jalapenos in my Fiesta Scramble Bowl with spinach. The bowl itself was full of flavor, with the cheese chorizo and pico all complimenting each other beautifully. Additionally it was the perfect sized portion and I left quite satisfied. I did have a glass of fresh squeezed OJ on the side, but something about it tasted.. off. Not sure if it was actually fresh squeezed or a bad batch of oranges, but it did cause me to pause. Overall, it was a great experience, but be aware that the seasonal specials cannot have modifications! read more

I visited the Metuchen location a couple of times before and was finally able to get to Bradley Beach on a Sunday morning. We were able to be seated right away and the food was delicious! Our server, Tina, was amazing! She checked up on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered their caesar salad and fries which hit the spot. Along with their matcha spritz which was light and refreshing. Of course I had to try my friends drinks too. We went for lunch because of all the hype. First the table we sat at was sticky we had to ask the waiter to bring spray to clean it. The restaurant was very noisy with babies screaming and crying. One patron was changing her child's diaper at the table, gross. She was throwing the wipes on the floor. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich was okay not exceptional. My sister and Mother had eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. The potatoes were supposed to have peppers and onions there were none. Maybe they used granulated not real peppered and onions. They gave one tiny piece of toast for two eggs and they forgot to bring the bread. By the time they received the toast they were almost finished with their eggs. We were in Ocean Grove and read reviews for a dozen breakfast places before picking Hatch44. What a wonderful find! Great ambiance with beautiful and tasteful Bohemian style decor - just lovely. We found a cozy little corner for just hubby and me. At 10, we got there just before the crowds and long lines for seating. Friendly and courteous service, too. Our waitress never made us feel rushed. I had the best vegan breakfast I've ever had, and hubby ordered a birria and plantains breakfast which was amazing. As a huge fan of the Metuchen location of Hatch 44, I had to try the Bradley Beach location before heading over to the shore. Only street parking is available, but we were able to easily find parking a couple minute walk away. We were discouraged by seeing a group of people waiting at the front, but there was no wait for my boyfriend and I. I loved the interior. Everything was so cute, including the flower shaped lights hanging from the ceiling, the plants at the doorway, the chairs, etc. However, as it was a hot summer day, there was a noticeable lack of sufficient AC. My boyfriend ordered the Fiesta Scramble and I ordered the sushi tacos, which I had previously never noticed on the menu, but the waitress informed me that it was only for a special event at Metuchen. As a back up, I ordered the shrimp tacos, which the waitress hyped up. We also got a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, which was delicious. As always, the food looked beautiful, but in terms of taste, it did not impress me. Although the filling of the taco was great as the shrimp tasted fresh and the slaw was great and well-flavored, I really wish there were normal tortillas as opposed to the tostone tortillas. As the tostone tortillas were flat and hard, they made it difficult to eat. My boyfriend thought his bowl was essentially a mushy bowl of food with corn tortillas. Overall, we would order different items next time and the Bradley Beach location is comparable to Metuchen as long as the AC issue is addressed! read more

Everything else was amazing. The decor is SO PRETTY. The outside has beautiful flowers and the inside has a stunning pink espresso machine. Even the bathroom was beautifully decorated. My mom and sisters had the birria grilled cheese, get your fix Japanese French toast, and berry zest pancakes which they all loved. Presentation was so pretty as well! BYOB friendly. The restaurant does have an extensive waitlist as they only take reservations for 6+. So after arriving and putting our names down we had about a 2 hour wait. Also keep in mind that they limit your table to 90 minutes starting from when the first person sits down. What an adorable place for brunch! I've been to the Metuchen once before so I decided to give this location a try since it's so close to my job. This location is smaller than Metuchen and there's only street parking. I started off with the creme brulee latte. It tasted ok, it was pretty bitter for me. I prefer a sweeter latte so if you don't like them too sweet then you'd probably enjoy it. I asked for extra milk on the side and once I added it, it definitely tasted better. For my meal I had the chicken scoop which is their take on good ol' chicken and waffles. It comes with a bacon jam, sunny side up egg, and a Dijon mustard maple sauce on the side. The chicken was a little soggy compared to the last time I had it but it was still delicious! Their menu is plentiful and even has a selection of seasonal specials. I noticed they have gluten free options as well which is always harder to find at brunch spots. The vibes are immaculate and I love the playlist. They are BYOB and have mixers you can buy to mix your alcohol into. Totally recommend this place! read more

Loved my visit to the Bradley Beach location - truly the cutest spot for lunch (if you love anything and everything pink, this place is for you)! I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon, so the space wasn't too crowded. A few people had their laptops open and when I asked, the waitress shared the wifi password with me. Seemed to be work-lunch friendly, but that may not be the case during their busier hours - be sure to double-check! Their menu was extensive and every dish was so creative! I ordered the Birria Grilled Cheese Please, which was absolutely amazing. The sandwich was so flavorful and juicy and cheesy - what more can you ask for? Plus, the fries that came on the side were thin, perfectly salted, and not too greasy. The portions were big, so I was able to take some home for later too.
