I am a delightful and fluffy, 90-lb therapy dog who has a gourmet-level appreciation for bacon and peanut butter. Usually I am relegated to eating offerings from my human's plate when I visit restaurants, but at this magical place, that is simply not the case (though she did still offer bacon from her plate, and I ate it). Here I got a big bowl of cold water--with a bone-shaped ice cube no less!--and my very own menu! I chose the Scone Bone and 2 slices of bacon. Finally made it to the Back in Time Café for breakfast last Friday! It was overcast but we were still able to enjoy our breakfast on cute outdoor patio behind the train station. We were seated right away, and our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Plus she was on top of the coffee refills! My husband devoured his Sunshine Sandwich (eggs bacon, avocado, tomatoes and cheese) with a side of spicy home fries. I opted for scrambled eggs with goat cheese and a croissant -- also delicious! First time here. Been to basically every breakfast place from Asbury to Belmar. Went here this morning and was blown away by the food and service. I ordered the "Earthquake" special. Almost didn't because it has their "spicy" home fries. Asked the waitress and she said it wasn't too spicy. She was right. It was perfect. Wife had the plain French Toast (which of course I sampled) and it was delicious as well. They give you real Vermont maple syrup (at no extra charge). Other places nearby charge extra. To top it off amazing coffee and nice to sit outside. Will be back! read more

This is a wonderful little spot. Great seating outside and cozy inside. Service was excellent. The food was delicious. I enjoyed a scrambled eggs, rye toast, spicy home fries and bacon. All of it was tasty especially the spicy home fries. The crumb cake for desert was tasty as well. First time, anyone has offered to heat up the crumb cake. This was a nice touch. What a wonderful surprise at the Bradley Beach train station! My husband and I were looking for somewhere different to go for breakfast and we found reviews for Back In Time Cafe on Yelp and had to try it! I had the sunshine sandwich which was amazing and the husband had the frittata which he said was excellent. We started our breakfast by sharing potato pancakes. The best potato pancakes we had in ages! I'm still thinking about them... We can't wait to return for lunch because there were definitely lunch items that we must try, and those potato pancakes, yum! I discovered this cute and charming place this morning while attending the craft show at the park in Bradley Beach. I had no idea this was there. It was packed outside so I sat inside. The menu was awesome and a little different then the usual. I ended up ordering the Sunshine sandwich. It exceeded my expection! It was a big croissant sandwich! I can taste every layer from the Swiss cheese to the bacon, avocado and finally the eggs. Delicious and filling! Next time I have to try the Bailey's Irish Cream French Toast. They use real Irish Cream, YUM!! There was also many flavored sconces to choose from, so I have try that also next time. My wife and I have been to Back in Time Cafe three times recently and each occasion we have really enjoyed our meals. They have an outdoor seating area and dogs are not only allowed, but welcomed also. There is also seating inside. The Cafe is situated in the Bradley Beach train station, but It is a nice quiet spot to get breakfast or lunch. My favorite is the Sunshine sandwich on a croissant. It has been consistently delicious. My puppy also appreciated the small dog biscuits he was offered by the owner of the restaurant. Service has been pleasant and welcoming. This is now our spot to head to when we're in the area. Can't wait until our next visit! read more

What a cute, campy spot to eat breakfast: at the Bradley Beach RR station. This brick building has character. Rosa, my server, is very personable. This hidden gem has been here 21 yrs. CYI? Anyway I ordered the Sunshine Sandwich, and did it shine. The Jersey tomatoes are fabulous this time of year, and complements to the chef who prepared this with Swiss cheese, avocado, bacon, and egg on a croissant. Try it. You'll marvel at this. Back In Time is the "Best kept secret" in Bradley. Better than the Biscuit hands down and not your everyday food expectation. For instance the French Toast comes in a Nutella or Bailey's flavor, the Bailey's is to die for. If you like an egg sandwich but want to delight your taste buds, then the Sunshine sandwich is for you. With eggs over easy on a croissant, avocado, tomato, smoky bacon and whatever. It's flavorful and tasty!!!! I'm only guessing at the ingredients with my observations but the taste is extreme. The baked products are all make from scratch, blueberry muffins, real English style scone and too many others to mention. They have outside dinning at the Bradley Station, a relic oak trimmed old school train station on-looking Riley Park. Bradley Beach, hmmmm does not sound like a tropical destination or a NJ Beach hang out... but that is part of the charm. Its a few blocks to the beach and with it comes a ocean side feel. This restaurant is located in a train station and has a calming feel to go along with good food. Nice servers, good sized portions and reasonable pricing. Semi easy parking and walkable. read more

Time after time, we passed this cafe on our way to area boardwalks. This time, we stopped! Not only is the Back In Time Cafe a sweet reminder of Bradley Beach's architectural and material past (remnants of the 1930s station are embraced rather than disguised, and a couple of awesome vintage stoves add vintage interest to the room), but the food is tasty, imaginative, and of composed of high quality ingredients. Service is like eating at mom's or grand-mom's. (Is everything all right? Do you need anything else? Would you like some more tea?) Back in Time features breakfast favorites, breakfast sandwiches (including a few with interesting twists such as avocado), omelettes, sandwiches, and pastries. Coffee, of course, and artisan teas and herbal infusions for the tea-lover. (The label is TeaPigs.) I opted for chicken salad - something I rarely order out - but I had a hunch it would be good here - and it was. See photo. My husband ordered eggs with home fries and bacon. He started to inhale it before I could take a photo. The bacon was applewood smoked and flavorful (as opposed to the salty, greasy, flavorless fronds that pass for bacon in other places far too often). BTW, if you haven't strolled the coastal walk at Bradley, it, too, is another lovely window on the past. Although many structures have been lost to time, the railings along the walk feature enlargements of picture postcards and old photos from Bradley Beach history. What a gem this place is. Simple menu and cute small cafe right near the Bradley Beach train station. It's perfect for a quiet breakfast away from the more touristy breakfast locations. My parents live in town and go here regularly. I went with them for the first time this passed Saturday morning. Our server was cheerful and friendly. Our food was perfect. I got the small plate with 2 eggs over easy and a croissant with a side of crispy well done bacon. I felt like our food took 5-10 minutes longer than maybe some other breakfast places ... but it didn't matter because everything came out accurate, hot and most importantly delicious. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I had a strange experience here. The buttered biscuit (across the street) was closed so I walked over to this cafe. I ate lunch here on a pretty quiet weekday afternoon, sat outside. The service was slow and food was just okay. The potato pancakes were good but burnt around the edges. Frittata was pretty good and the chicken salad sandwich was very disappointing. Even the coffee was bad. After our plates were cleared, my husband stepped inside to see what pastries they had and one of the staff yelled at him "we're closed!" We decided to skip dessert and asked for our check, but our waitress had been MIA since bringing us our food. Waited a bit longer and finally went inside to request the check again so we could pay and leave. The same staff who yelled at my husband started having some kind of breakdown and yelling again. Clearly she was having a bad day, but it was extremely uncomfortable and off putting as a customer. Definitely would not recommend this cafe. read more

This is a very cute little spot - but major emphasis on the little. Came here for brunch, and the entire restaurant only has about 6 tables. You will likely be seated close to some strangers, and the tables are high-tops that aren't the most comfortable. The servers were extremely sweet, as was every patron in the restaurant. I had a sausage egg and cheese with avocado on a croissant and it was tasty, and my boyfriend had the bagel. Don't recommend We wanted to originally go to the Buttered Biscuit in Bradley but they were closed on Tuesday's so we settled on this place We waited and waited to get acknowledged at our table We were seated but no one came out until to even give us a menus for about 15 minutes then we ordered coffee and our meals This was my meal, eggs, toast ,potatoes we all had the same pretty much mine came out first then every 5 minutes another person at my table got their plate we all ordered just eggs and toast and a breakfast Sandwich and by the time we all got our food one by one it was 20 minutes later that we all waited until we all had our plates It wasn't busy at all actually we were surprised the lack of business for breakfast We know why now I will never recommend nor go there ever again This is what I was served at the time it was placed in front of me Skimpy skimpy skimpy not to mention I had to pick hard dried things out of the scrambled eggs like stuff that was left on the grill from a previous order. I recently discovered this little gem while out on a bicycle ride. I have pedaled past it many times while trekking between Brielle and Asbury, and yesterday, feeling a bit parched and very hungry, I decided to give it a try. Wow! The servers were courteous and professional and the service was prompt. The menu had so many interesting choices I couldn't make up my mind. I eventually settled on the "Waffle Sandwich" and a tall glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. To my delight, everything was spectacular. Being housed in a New Jersey Historical site (Bradley Beach Train Station) only adds to it's charm! It is truly a step "Back in Time".
