I've seen a lot of great reviews for this place so I'm sorry to give it only 3 stars but my experience was less than great. But I will say I've only been for breakfast, will try their lunch soon. The reason I wasn't impressed is pretty simple: I ordered the Belgian waffle, which wasn't bad, but it came with a packaged high fructose, caramel color, preservative added syrup! Huh?? Why would anyone serve that with a Belgian waffle. I expect maple syrup or at least something not packaged and full of nasty ingredients. Hope they make a simple change! Hatch 5 is the best little cafe in the Bulverde area. Their prices are a little steep, but the food never disappoints. It's all fresh and homemade and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The seating is very limited so try and arrive before the lunch rush if you want seating inside on a hot day. Bonus: they have the most adorable wooden red high chair. read more

Took the family and mother-in-law to this quaint little spot in the metropolis of Bulverde America. Five tables inside and a couple small tables on the front patio occupied by some cyclists on a ride though the Hill Country. Easy listening Bossa Nova playing in the background. Saturday brunch was in full swing. All tables occupied except one. We claimed it and ordered. The breakfast menu is till 10:30 but they extended it on Saturday. I ordered the Hatch Sandwich (turkey, bacon, and avocado on a croissant). Lots of great lunch and breakfast options. Today's tea was sweet hibiscus. About five minutes the meal was delivered to the table. We all dug in and gave the first impression of our few bites. Unanimous! Delicious! If you eat as fast as I do, you can browse the items for sale around the dining area while the rest of your party finishes. Jams, tea kettles, cookies, and vintage items. We had a great brunch with a pleasant conversation. Bulverde is a little off the beaten path but it is worth the excursion if you have the time. Great experience all around. Bon appetit! read more

My sandwich was decent but was kicked out as it was at closing time apparently in the next 20 minutes and packed my order to go and told me they were about to lock the door while others were dining in. Rude the entire order process. Only giving two stars because the egg salad sandwich had a nice flavor. Come here if you appreciate a soup Nazi. Such a great first dining experience, as we just moved here. Not sure how this has such great reviews, with such a lack in customer service and common decency. read more

Charming country ambience. It's become one of my favorite coffee/breakfast/lunch stops. My favorites are the ABLT and the Matcha latte with honey. The pastry's look delicious but I haven't ventured to that side of the menu yet. read more

We just moved to the area and were excited to try this spot! Got the chance to grab lunch earlier today and it definitely lived up to the hype. We got the caprese sandwich meal, the club sandwich meal and a four pack of mini cupcakes. The caprese was one of the best I have ever had. The bread was delicious! My husband really enjoyed his club sandwich too. The meals come with a side, a drink, and a dessert. The hibiscus tea was very refreshing as well. Can't wait to come back for breakfast! read more

My wife and I had lunch there the other day. Food, atmosphere, and service was fantastic- we loved it. The owner even came out and stopped at out table and asked if we needed anything. Stopped in today after going to the old Post Office next door. Was in the mood to for soup. I was greeted by the owner who took my order. I ordered their mushroom and asparagus quiche and a cup of their creamy vegetable soup. Absolutely delicious. They offer breakfast and lunch items: Quiche (different varieties daily) and soups as well. They also have sandwiches, desserts, coffee and much much more. Its in the old town of Bulverde, small and quaint. They also have antique items, nick knacks and clothing. You can dine there or take out. I opted to take out and enjoy my meal at home. Definitely recommend and will go back and try other things on their menu. read more

The food is amazing but I feel like people should know that it is a tad pricey. 4pack of mini cupcakes is gonna set you back 6.50, turkey sandwich bottle of h20 and ruffles 15$. Amazing flavor combinations though in the sandwich's. Also worth noting cross contamination was an issue for us. My daughter who is a vegetarian ordered a grilled cheese and it had a chunk of bacon in it. A gem in Old Town Bulverde. Honestly, the only good thing about Old Town Bulverde. They have the best kolaches I've ever had, their veggie quiche is AMAZING and their muffins are delicious! Great little place for breakfast or lunch! We stumbled upon this place last week and have eaten here twice already. Everything is made from scratch and made to order and is very tasty. They have great sandwiches and soups and we love their bakery items. Today we ordered the Hatch Club and the Ham & Brie sandwiches with their tomato basil soup & mini blueberry muffins. Delicious! :)) Their house made teas, which were Hibiscus and Blueberry Pomegranate are also wonderful, I enjoy mixing the two together. I will post pics of the food next time we eat here but I got so excited to eat my lunch that I forgot to take a picture. This place will be a new frequent for us!! read more

These people have the best food EVER!!! My fave are the macrons. I also love the lime tarts!i love the sour and sweet flavor and topped with powdered sugar.
