We had a wedding reception there. They were very professional. The area was well kept, clean and pleasant atmosphere. There was an area of the room that they reserved for us so we could have privacy and enjoy ourselves. The attentiveness of the servers and the manager were outstanding. His staff and owner went out their way to make it a very enjoyable place to have a small wedding reception. Tables were spaced nicely, providing the closeness of atmosphere that I asked for. The appetizers that we ordered for the reception were first class. Through shortsightedness on our part, we did not order enough appetizers. We asked the owner and he quickly re-refreshed the hors d'oeuvre we had ordered and in a very, very, very timely manner. I would highly recommend this place. They made our wedding reception and outstanding event through their professionalism, atmosphere, and the quality of the appetizers. They also have a wonderful restaurant there with a very unique food items. They serve wines, beer, and hard drinks also. I absolutely love coming here for breakfast or lunch. They have a great menu and the food is always delicious. You will always have a great view, whether you dine inside or outside, and like I said, the food is always great, and due to that the prices are a bit higher than what you may be used to when you dine in the city. The upside is the food is always fresh, there will be variations to the menu, and the ambience is amazing. Before or after dining, you can stroll through Spring Creek Garden, which is by far one of my favorite places on earth. Their drinks have just enough to make you feel it, but not make you regret it. I definitely recommend coming out here for brunch, with friends, a date, or by yourself with a good book. I made a reservation at 11:30am this morning. I got there at 11:28, I was seated. Then I never was served. My husband and I sat there for 25 minutes and were completely passed over. The table next to us that was seated after we arrived was served water and drinks first. I would avoid this restaurant at all cost. It's not worth it at all. Great place for a girls' luncheon! Located in the nursery and brunch is served till 330pm Wed- Sunday, dinner Wed- Sat 5-9pm. No reservation needed. We were immediately greeted and seated. There's also a nice patio area with a small water feature, but it was a tad hot to sit outside, so we were seated indoors with a nice view. All the servers were very friendly, you can tell they enjoyed their job. I couldn't decide between the BLT or the Farmhouse salad... I asked our server and he immediately answered without hesitation... the BLT!!!!! So that's what I got... I never thought much of a BLT but this one was pretty good. Sourdough bread and aioli with lots of crispy bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Very satisfying. The arugula salad (without cheese) was simple, but had a nice tasty light vinaigrette and pickled onions. Honestly from the exterior you don't really know what to expect, as it originated as a garden center, but has expanded to include one of the best eateries Bulverde TX has to offer. Not only is the staff exceptional, but also the food is spectacular! The interior is tasteful with a bar backed by a trickling waterfall. The interior section has an optional open screened area, and there is a quaint patio area with a view of the gorgeous garden center and greenhouse. Today we had brunch, my husband had steak & eggs while I had the French toast. Hands down the best French toast I've ever had. Thick slices, soft, fluffy, infused with flavor in every bite! Steak & eggs were delicious as well. We love Desert Spoon for the high quality, homemade food, but also for the amazing ambiance and attention to detail. The restaurant and grounds are gorgeous. On a beautiful outing to the hill country my friend decided to treat me to a great view. Butterfly gardens, beautiful water fountain, and a plant nursery. Service is fast and welcoming. You get a taste of the true country hospitality. The food authentic and delicious. I had the wild boar pasta and my friend has a snapper dish. I have to say the fish was a bit strong in taste and but the pasta was cooked al dense and boar bolognese was a delicately balanced to layer upon the palates 4 quadrant. I love this place! The food is so good and the atmosphere is very nice too. We love going here. The only problem and why I gave 4 stars is that the flies were horrible. The little fan helped a bit, but they were everywhere. I think next time I will sit inside. But even then I noticed there were flies in there too. The service is very good. But something has to be done about all the flies. Maybe one of those fans when you open the door that blows the flies out before they can come into the restaurant. The wife and I met our daughter and fiancé here on a Monday evening for dinner. A new restaurant on the Spring Creek Gardens property. Fun fact... Desert Spoon is not only the name of the restaurant but also a plant native to the Texas Hill Country (who knew?). The decor is an eclectic combination of hill country rock, vertical ship lap wall panels, and ceramic green subway tile on the bar. Of course being a nursery, there are fresh and beautifully arranged flowers on every table. Several tables inside or if you prefer outside under a covered patio area giving the option to enjoy the rare mild spring climate in Texas. Large windows provide a spectacular view of the grounds and sunset. The dining area is really nicely done and very comfortable. The owners Trever and her husband Merritt (two young Aggie entrepreneurs) stopped by the table and chatted with us briefly. Wylie, our waiter and pleasant young man with a southern accent, took our drink order. Old Fashion for me and the 404 (gin or vodka based) cocktail for the wife. The menu is a la carte. Entres can be pared with "sharables" which are sides for the table. I ordered the lamb shank, the wife red fish, daughter 1/2 roasted chicken, and her to be...the smash burger and fries. The meals were delivered to the table in short order and after snaping a few pics for you Yelpers and thanking the good Lord, we partook. We each tried a bit of the other's meal and I must say, the wife scored with the red fish. My lamb shank was a close second. Unfortunately, the carrots were not available so we only ordered the broccoli for the table. I wish we would have ordered two sides but maybe next time. The wife, not a avid seafood person surprised me by ordering the red fish. She enjoyed every bite and I didn't get my usual portion of leftovers when she finishes. Everyone enjoyed the meal and a good time was had by all. My daughters beau picked up the tab so I enjoyed it more than usual. Have been to Desert Spoon many times (just yesterday) and always been great service. Until today. My husband and I went there for brunch at 10am and was told this is the busiest day and needed reservations. The restaurant wasn't even half full. The couple that walked in before us was told the same but I think they pleaded it was their anniversary (or some sort of special occasion) and the hostess asked the manager and were seated. Once we were turned away we walked outside and I looked on Open Table and they had MANY openings starting at 10:15am. I made the reservation and we walked back in. This time the same lady was there but the younger girl we spoke with. I told her we were able to make the reservation on Open Table. She asked what time and I told her 10:15. She said oh well you must have slipped right in but you still have 10 min and your table isn't ready yet and you'll have to wait. I'll let you know when your table is ready. Showed attitude to us and instantly made us feel unwelcome. Very disappointed as the whole situation could've been handled better. A smile goes a long way. read more

I'll start off that the food was excellent! Service was great however the owner, Merritt, was not friendly. We had a celebratory lunch with family and were cut off at 2/3 drinks a person personally by the owner. We were a lively but respectable bunch and were not causing any trouble nor were we intoxicated. On a separate occasion, our family members visited a second time for brunch. After their meal they went over to the wine tasting area at the gift shop and were asked if drinks were consumed and purchased at the restaurant which the response was "yes". They proceeded to not sell them wine cards. So if you like good food, great servers but limited to how many alcoholic beverages you consume then check this place out. I'm not sure if there was a reason for the strict guidelines or if they just like to implement that policy. Personally we will not be dining here any more. read more

The chef is incredible. The staff has been nothing but kind and helpful. I've enjoyed breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. I'm particularly excited about them offering really good gluten free buns! To the average diner that doesn't know the difference, I'm sure they won't notice, but don't insult my intelligence. Why do all the female servers and older female bartender look so miserable.
