Hatch is staffed by knowledgeable & hospitable staff (thanks Cece!). We always feel well educated after we leave! Like my prior review, it's still impossibly clean & well stocked. Maybe they have had it before but now there is a local honey on the shelf. Literally something for everyone. While we didn't have time to stay for a drink at the bar (we were there to buy our fav' bottles), it looked fun w plenty of tables and snacks to buy. There is no food service/no kitchen. Maybe they allow carry-in/delivery...? Our fav's are the gin, aquavit, & limoncello. Be sure to stop by, it's a not miss! Hatch was such a fun place to visit! Bright and rustic with loads of goodies to take home with you. We stopped in for honey, tasting glasses, a cocktail mixer and some limoncello but also were intrigued by the drink menu. The staff here was happy to answer questions but still let you have your space to look around. We tried a couple of drinks and the lemon chiffon was a surprisingly yummy drink! I was even pleasantly surprised by the smoked maple old fashioned because it was so well balanced (I've had Old fashioneds in the past that were toooo heavy on the maple)! I took my husband to Door County for the first time (his first time but certainly not mine). However, Hatch was new to both of us. We stopped in, they do have decent parking but I imagine it gets pretty crowded on the weekends and in the summer (we were there during the Fall 50 race). We started with a free tasting and then grabbed a drink at the bar. I really wish we had more time to spend there, because the drinks were fantastic. They had quite the menu of fall festive drinks in addition to some fan favorites. I also loved the ambiance and the setup of the place, with plenty of tables but also standing room available. read more

My wife and I stopped here for a drink and the bartender was rude. I asked if she could make other than what was on the menu and the attitude came out. If she doesnt like people or doesnt like making drinks, then she should not be working at a distillery. Our experience was so bad that we finished our drink and left. I'd recommend stopping by Hatch Distilling if you're in Door County to try out their drinks, both their spirits and the mead from their Mixed Meadia label. I was only able to stop for a short time so couldn't fully explore their cocktails, but the flight I had took me on a delightful range of flavors to give me a good sense of what they do and prompted me to get a few bottles to take home with me. On the mead side, the Vikings Blood & Honey and Lemon were my two favorites. Hatch has a large parking lot, a cool indoor seating with bar and variety of tables, and a nice patio (that I enjoyed). The bartender was helpful, and patient, as I tried to make the stressful decision of which items to select for my flight. My visit to Hatch with my husband was lovely. The aesthetic is very clean, warm and inviting. The staff do an excellent job of educating on what everything offered on the menu is. I had never experienced Aquavit. Today was that day! Be sure to try their Aquavit offering as it's new and on the lighter side. Offering samples for each product was also helpful. Hatch is the spot! Nestled up in Egg Harbor, better known as the Door County corridor, I've found myself at Hatch more than once now. Whenever passing by I pick up some of the good stuff they have. Hatch also serve drinks and provide tastings in their tasting room. They are just that, a tasting room and they only stay open until 6 pm despite being totally slammed with people inside and out. Their focus is on bottle sales, and they aren't a bar. Despite that difference they create some solid handcrafted cocktails from their reserve of delicious, created liquors! On a recent family trip to Door County, I had the pleasure to stumble upon this amazing establishment! On our tour up the peninsula, we couldn't help but notice this modern, millenial-focused new build amongst the MANY older, historical looking buildings. Street or lot parking make this easily accessible, with indoor and outdoor patio seating. As a self-proclaimed city dweller, this spot is reminiscent of my favorite spots: modern finishes, craft cocktails, and hip bartenders. They distill a variety of spirits with something for everyone, utilizing local ingredients in their fun cocktails. Our servers were helpful in providing recommendations, offering small talk during drink prep, and quick to make our drinks. The prices are fair for the amount of work and style of cocktail, but might seem steep compared to other local spots BUT well worth the price. We had a variety of drinks during our stay, but I LOVED the Hibisky Old Fashioned, a fun play on the Whiskey Old Fashioned with some hibiscus syrup to balance out the spirit forward drink. My boyfriend doesn't love an Old Fashioned but loved this version. You can't go wrong with this joint, as it provides the perfect escape from all-day shopping on your Door Countt adventure. My only suggestion is to be open past 6pm...as it would be a great evening spot after dinner! read more

Was up in Door County this weekend with some buddies and we made an impromptu stop at Hatch Distilling. I'd never even heard of it before but am a huge fan now. Super cool place with a wide range of spirits. I ordered a cucumber gin cocktail that was superb. Dangerous drink in that it didn't even taste like booze! I wound up buying a bottle of their honey rum and also their gin. Just made my wife a gin and tonic with the latter and she loved it and thought the gin has a really good, unique taste. The staff was across the board really friendly and on top of things. This place is a winner! read more

We stopped into Hatch Distilling on whim while driving around Door County. After enjoying lots of local wineries, a distillery was a nice change of pace! I appreciated that they had a parking lot. The space itself was really nice. There was a beautiful patio and lots of indoor seating as well. We opted to sit inside due to the wind. First drink: Pumpkin juice. LOVED IT! This is my ideal fall drink. It was really smooth and not too sweet. Second drink: The Mounties old fashioned. Solid drink! It was smooth and had just the right amount of sweetness from the maple syrup. We had hoped to try the supper club old fashioned, but we wanted to sub bourbon for the brandy (not a big fan of brandy). The bartender said they wouldn't make any modifications to the drinks, which I thought was a little odd. All in all, this was a great find! The good....Our drinks were good. And the staff was friendly. But, we had heard they serve the best old fashions in the area. Not even close. They were fine, but not overly impressed. We also understand that staff may be hard to find, but ordering at the bar and constantly having to go back to order something new was not ideal. For the prices you are paying, it would be great to have someone come to your table. Also, the person taking orders was 18 and we have absolutely no problem with that. But, she could not recommend anything because she said she's never had alcohol. That's kind of weird given that alcohol is all Hatch sells. There is no food or anything like that. Again, not a deal breaker. It's a beautiful building and within walking distance to everything in town. So it's a really nice option, but may not be a top choice for us. read more

I LOVE Hatch Distilling. It has my favorite gin and when willing vodka. I'm more of a whiskey drinker, but don't like it too smokey and prefer the irish blends so it wasn't for me, but they got me with their clear spirits and awesome staff. - Gin - PERFECT blend of juniper and spices. It is as smooth as gin can get, but also so flavorful at the same time. You don't even need to mix it with anything, just enjoy - Vodka - I am not a vodka person, but i can understand why it's a huge seller for them. This vodka is smooth and delicious, with none of that harsh burn. - Lemoncello - lemoney goodness. I think they said this started from their vodka, so it makes sense that it is also a delicious lemony treat. I talked to the bartender for an hour and loved learning about the craft and history of the distillery. Highly recommend if you are coming to visit Door county and are in the Egg Harbor area. read more

The aesthetics of this bar are what initially drew me in to stop for a cocktail while I was on a vacation in Door County. The Distillery has a hip, modern, yet classic appeal with its quartz bar meeting natural wood shelving and Edison-style lighting. Both bartenders were engaging with each customer and both greeted me. Their only menu is a drink menu and it has just a handful of cocktails to choose from. I don't mind this at all, as this means the bartenders will be masters at making each drink. I loved watching them make each cocktail from scratch, pouring their own honey slowly and slapping the fresh herbs to bring out the aromas. I ordered the Hibisky Old Fashioned and was not disappointed. I paid my tab and then purchased a bottle of their Bourbon to give to my brother in-law for Christmas. We showed up today for a cocktail. Because of Covid all consumption of their drink have to be outside. They have tasters outside for their products and prefaced that drinks come already mixed. So we picked a bourbon prefabbed cocktail and a hibiscus old fashioned. Both were premixed and poured out of a tap. My hubby and I agreed both were way to sugary. We like our drinks with a lot less sugar. We ended up Not finishing them. Finally we tried their whiskey straight. It was delicious. The distillery decor/ambiance is amazing! Lots of Edison light bulbs, dark metals, wood. Super trendy and rustic! Love their display of bottles as well. I definitely want to get back here, especially post-COVID. We stopped here as one of our stops on the trolley tour. I can't tell if the tasting was mediocre because we were on a tour or, because of COVID, or, that's just how they do tastings. Someone showed us a video, and it just felt very impersonable there. It didn't really feel like we were wanted inside the shop. We had to grab our 2 (yes, our tasting only included 2) samples and sit outside... it was a 50 degree day with winds and rain. And, if we wanted to have an additional sample (or drink), they had a mini bar setup outside to order. And, we had to pay for additional samples. Again... I'm not sure if this is the norm or just a side effect of COVID. With the lack luster tasting experience, I will say their spirits are solid. My friend said it was the best Gin she'd ever had. I bought a bottle of bourbon, and I'm super excited to try it at home. I would recommend stopping here. Hands down. For a drink. I just don't think I'd recommend an official tasting tour - it was meh. read more

The decor is nice, very modern. As others mentioned the menu is small with focus being on the hand crafted drinks. I would agree with others that a simple appetizer menu would be nice. It would allow me to order more drinks and linger more. We did venture into the video viewing room on our own accord. The video was nice and gave a great background story. Unfortunately for us a family with 3 small children were visiting the distillery. There is nothing for children as it is set up more as a bar. The children were loud, silly, and running around as you might imagine there isn't much to entertain them. I would not recommend taking children unless you have something to entertain them. Nice little distillery. Went on a tour in morning, the owner showed us around. Very informative. I tried a flight. Vodka was really cool - made from 100% honey so it had some sweetness and flavor to it. Bourbon was really good - highly recommend that one. Harbor Dog was really interesting - a rum-like spirit made with honey. I wasn't enamored with the rye, gin, and limoncello, but they're not really my thing. This is the absolute best distillery in DC. Katie and the crew are awesome folks who are well-versed in distilled spirits. We tried just about everything (except the vodka) and loved it all. Great cocktails and retail space. The patio is super inviting and it will be tough for you to leave without a box or bag of Hatch items to remember your trip. We loved that they use honey in their distilling as opposed to sugar. Makes for a really nice product. I. Particular we loved the limoncello and the 1916 Bourbon. Great things are happening here! I went into Hatch Distilling a few weekends ago and walked into one of the greatest experiences I've had in Door County in a LONG time. Not only was the distillery clean, the employee who helped me was the most kind and most knowledgeable of all things Hatch Distilling had to offer. Most of us know how rough 2020 was not only for our friends and families, but for our mental health and social experiences too. My first experience out of the house in a long time was met by such kindness and hospitality and I am so very grateful for Katie and all her guidance during our visit.
