I think we arrived a minute after they opened for the morning and we were immediately welcomed in. We were asked if we wanted inside or rooftop and, with the weather cooperating, we went to the roof. It was early so only a few other parties joined us up there so it was a very relaxing time! Our server was super nice, got our orders in quickly and we got to watching the bay. Food was so good, albeit a little pricey for what you get. My shrimp wrap was actually amazing. It lists a habanero-cherry slaw, but dont be scared (or get your hopes up) because absolutely no spice comes through. All i tasted was a very nice, sweet coleslaw. I wish there was a bit more of a kick! The whitefish looked great, i snagged a fry and it was covered in some citrus spice that was really unique and tasty. I laughed a little at the straight-up untoasted buttered bread they served it with, but maybe that's just not something im used to seeing! Good, quick experience with a nice view downtown. We went to lunch recently at Mezzanine, as we were in Egg Harbor--and there it was. The food was mostly good, the setting--we sat outside on their deck--is stunning, and the service was good. I was having lunch with my husband and a friend of ours. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, my husband ordered the Whitefish Tacos, and my friend ordered two appetizers as her meal--the guac and the ceviche. She also ordered a cocktail--I think the margarita (I remember she said she wanted salt). My husband liked his tacos quite a bit, but one odd thing is that the lunches come with either fries or watermelon. As he isn't a watermelon fan, he got the fries, which is the odd thing is having fries with tacos. But as someone who is really picky about her fries, these were very good--fresh and hot. The Ahi Tacos were also very good. For $20, I would've like maybe more than two tacos, but since I ate a lot of his fries, I wasn't starving. And I do realize food prices have not been going down... My friend's guac was fine, but her ceviche was not ceviche. The first time it came out, it was green--it looked exactly like the guac, so she sent it back, explaining that one should be able to see the fish and it shouldn't be green (and she tasted it--whatever it was, it was not ceviche). The second time, it was certainly fish, but it was more like a fish salad, but it did not have the acid in it that one expects in ceviche, as that is what "cooks" the fish. She said it tasted it fine, but just not--yeah, I've said this a bunch--ceviche. Oh, and her cocktail was fine. We will definitely go back next time we're up that way. On a sunny day, it would be gorgeous. Our day was a bit iffy, and we were lucky--we got our bill just as it began to rain, so we were able to duck under the covered bar to settle up, have a brief convo with the bartender, and went downstairs to the Chocolate Chicken to get a piece of chocolate (my husband's and friend's chocolate was fine--I'm a pain in the neck, and I wanted darker chocolate with more pecans!) and wait out the rain. read more

Mixed review ... went for dinner on a Monday night. Place was quiet, no one on the first floor to greet us. Climbed the stairs to the upper level, lots of stairs and steep incline. Ordered the white fish cakes (their version of crab cakes) as a starter. Three cakes, average size, pan fried and topped with greens and aioli. Simply put, wouldn't order again. Wifey went with the shrimp taco wrap. Several battered and deep fried shrimp with greens and avocado. Shrimp were a good size and cooked perfectly. Order came with a few slices of watermelon which was delicious. I ordered the angel hair pasta with mussels. When the dish came out it was prepared with shrimp rather than mussels. Odd mistake I thought. Apologies were made and the dish was redone. Pasta was stacked high with a light lemon garlic sauce. Shrimp were large and deep fried. When the dish with the mussels came they were plentiful and presented nicely. Roof top seating during a sunset on a warm night was a fun experience. Wait staff was attentive. Seating area is not large but bench seating allows for groups of any size. We are 50/50 on a second visit. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Very good! Open later than most places in Egg Harbor on weeknights. We arrived on a Sunday night ahead of a quick fall getaway, and this was about the only non-pizza, non-junk option. But a good place! The Old Fashioned was one of the best I've had. Hubs and I shared bruschetta, which was also very good. Main course was the Mac & cheese, with grilled chicken added-- generous portion size (probably could have shared it), very rich but good. Our waiter was good-- attentive and friendly. The bar tender also seemed on top of things too. Prices a little high (e,g,, to add chicken was an extra $8, so the mac & cheese + chicken ended up $26). Ambiance is cool, casual. Nice views! Location is great right off the marina in Egg Harbor. We went on a quiet night. The food took over 30 min to come out which was definitely too much for what it was. The food is expensive and extremely mediocre. The white fish ceviche did not seem fresh, it didn't seem like it was actually cooked like a ceviche either - seemed like it was definitely boiled and essentially smushed together. I had the ahi tuna taco which was ok. Small portion but nothing special at all. Fries were average. All of the dishes from our table were delivered at the same time except for one of them which was delivered literally 15 minutes later. The dish was the ahi tuna which is all raw/cold anyways so that was disappointing. The biggest disappointment, though, was the taste of the ahi tuna entree. It's expensive for a pile of raw tasting noodles and under-seasoned tuna. It is a really strange rendition of Asian inspired food. The shrimp wrap was also super small. After eating here you don't feel satisfied (taste and portion wise) and also feel like you got ripped off. I wouldn't recommend eating here and won't be back my next time in Door County. read more

"I want to sit outside" I said on the last Sunday afternoon in September. Mezzanine offers that kind of dining experience, overlooking the bay in Egg Harbor from the upper deck out back. We loved being able to get that corner table closest to the water on a sunny mid afternoon. We had the deck to ourselves most of the time but this seems like the place with the view. I had a burger and my friend had the whitefish cakes. I wish I had been more adventurous as the menu has water originating options for sure. Menu is one of those short and sweet ones that I do like! Service was outgoing and just attentive enough. Definitely a must try when you're in town. I will be back for more views. read more

Atmosphere: The inside was well lit with a lot of big windows and there is seating on the roof. It was very hot and the umbrellas didn't do a lot of shade blocking and there was a ton of bees on the deck so if you are allergic this is not the place to "bee". The bathroom was clean but it was only single person use unisex for the top floor. Service: The service was friendly but it took quite awhile to get the bill but it seemed like they were understaffed. Food: The baked whitefish that my father had left much to be desired, it was the smallest and thinnest fillet we had ever seen. The potato salad was okay but the potatoes were overcooked so it had a very mushy texture. The pastrami Reuben I ordered was top notch, I would order this every time and I can't stop thinking about it. Overall I'd give this place 3.5 stars if that was an option. read more

Stopped for dinner on a Saturday night about 7 PM, and they were pretty much packed, but we were offered a couple of seats at the bar in lieu of waiting, so we grabbed them. Got in our drink orders and checked out the menu offerings. It's close to the end of the season, which is probably why they were out of 3 menu items, but there were still ample options for our tastes. My wife got the drink of the day, which was a creative gimlet, and it was quite tasty. I got a chardonnay. The wine list is reasonable, and they have a pretty good selection of creative cocktails that are consistent, along with a daily special. Our food came out quickly, and it was hot, fresh, and very tasty. I got the Pesto Shrimp...a nice, creamy pesto, with a good serving of shrimp. My wife got the Cherry Walnut Salad, and added Shrimp for a very reasonable $7. The greens were fresh and a nice variety of spring mix, and the accompaniments were all fresh and combined nicely in the salad. The bartender was very attentive and personable, and checked in on us very regularly. We got there after the sunset, but the view from the restaurant should be very good. It's not all that big, and can get a bit loud, but they are also open pretty long hours for Door County, so you have options. All in all, definitely recommended. read more

Mezzanine was an incredible experience (we went back the next day)! My wife is gluten free and finding places that can accommodate her allergy (and still be tasty) can be difficult. We had an AMAZING server (Natalia) who did a great job to explain everything on the menu that could be modified to be gluten free. She was an exceptional host to us and made us feel so welcome. I initially asked about this because on the menu there was an asterisk saying *cannot be modified to be gluten free. I would suggest maybe just writing what is gluten free because it was honestly confusing and if my wife went alone she never would have asked. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the Mac and cheese. They were both so delicious and the next day I got the fish fry.... Such a delightful experience. Great view of the bay from the restaurant even if you're sitting inside. They have a rooftop deck but it was a little cold the day I was there. We were the only diners sitting inside when we arrived about 11 but the tables were almost full by the time we left. Great coffee but refills were never offered, however our cups were quickly taken and refilled when we asked. Pastrami Benedict was good although the eggs were slightly overcooked. Tasty hollandaise that didn't overpower the other flavors like some do. Potatoes are cooked well almost crispy with a southwestern type seasoning. Wrap was a nice blend of textures with potatoes, scrambled eggs and bacon. Drinks were tasty also but too light on the spirits. Our service was good, and the restaurant was very clean. We had two wonderful back-to-back evenings at the rooftop bar at Mezzanine! The first evening was just yummy cocktails with wonderful service from Paige. The second night was drinks and dinner, this time with Paige and Angel. Both were friendly and delightful. Skirt steak with chimichurri sauce was perfectly cooked. My salad was delicious with the added panko crusted shrimp. Dirty martini was excellent, despite no blue cheese stuffed olives. My parents, sister, and I came to Mazzanine for lunch today, and what a wonderful choice we made! The service was excellent; our server was very patient as we pondered whether or not to sit on the rooftop for our lunch. (Our only caution - there is not much -- if any -- shade midday on the rooftop.) We ultimately chose to sit inside, and we had a beautiful view of the harbor and could watch boats launching from our table by the big windows. Two of us ordered the whitefish tacos, one ordered the whitefish sandwich, and one ordered the crispy shrimp and avocado wrap. All of us enjoyed our meal and cleaned our plates. Mezzanine was a late find after a day of touristing around Door County, and I'm very glad that I found it. Their rooftop was great for a nice evening dinner overlooking the water. Much of the seating was long picnic-table style, so if it's busier up there you might be sitting next to others (it wasn't when I was there). I had the Reuben, which had a Door County-themed cherry kraut which was absolutely delicious and one of the better Reubens I've had overall, and a delightful lavender creme brulee for dessert. We had lunch on the rooftop on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We had one person in our party that has a shrimp allergy, she wanted the fish tacos so we inquired about the shrimp being fried in the same oil as the fish. They came with mashed potatoes and potato salad, but the ingredient that shined so bright was the Door County Cherry Chutney that came on the salmon. SO DELICIOUS! This place is a hidden gem overlooking the water, and while I was there mid-week during a slower time of year, my meal was outstanding! I started upstairs on the open-air deck, but noticed several bees, so I went back downstairs and chose a table by the window so I could see the harbor. Their menu options are amazing, and many consist of whitefish which is very common in Door County. They all looked delicious, but I chose the Cremini Mushroom Linguine with shrimp. It's made in a white wine cream sauce and topped with grated parmesan cheese. It was probably the best pasta dish I have EVER had! Hearty portion, and a slice of lemon & sunflower bread. Bravo! The only downside is there isn't much parking, and I presume during peak season it is hard to find parking. read more

Food was very good, I had an avocado shrimp wrap, with many large shrimp and took half home and my sister had the burger, both were very generous portions and good quality. This is a new addition to Door County, and we stopped in on our way out of town after Fall Fest- around 1 pm. It was pretty dead, and we were able to have our choice of seat. We sat right next to the window and had a beautiful view the whole time of the water and the fall colors! We ordered curds, a burger, and the blt wrap. The curds were good, and they serve them with a jam instead of a savory dip, which was a pleasant surprise. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful! The BLT wrap was loaded with delicious bacon and was a great fresh lunch. Our server was also fantastic, he was super attentive and friendly. They also have really creative and delicious cocktails. Prices are about standard for the area. They say on the menu NO SUBSTITUTIONS, so heads up! I think this is a great thing, helps keep the kitchen moving when it's busy. I'm sure they make accommodations for allergies, though. We can't wait to come back next season to check out the roof deck! A fabulous addition to Egg Harbor in a great location! read more

This new spot is definitely known for their gorgeous views of Egg Harbor and the lake. We were really looking forward to ordering their white fish entrees: the pan fried whitefish and whitefish po' boy. However, as we ordered our server informed us that they ran out of whitefish for the night. How can you run out of white fish at a fish restaurant? We opted for the salmon and burger instead. Food was good, but nothing special. Our server was the main issue. He never came by to ask if we wanted another drink, ask how the food was, make any other suggestions to the whitefish. We did not see him most of the evening, so much so that we had to grab the manager and ask for the check. The manager was really understanding and even compted our two drinks. I would give it another try as long as they had the whole menu available and better service. read more

Drinks were made incorrectly, food was seasoned oddly (very little flavor to so lemony it was near inedible), had to ask for silverware several times and wait to eat, food was brought out at different times and the second batch was not very hot. Our table was very loose and rocked back and forth so it felt like you were sitting on a boat. We have several Door County favorite eateries but many were closed on a Tuesday in June so we decided to try a new place and ended up here. Shared outside seating at long picnic tables under umbrellas upstairs (plus I believe some indoor seating on the ground level). Views from the upper level were pleasant. We shared the bruschetta and it was served in a unique way - toasted bread with tomatoes, onion, and Parmesan cheese mounded in the middle. Very tasty, I had the salad with mixed greens, Bleu cheese, onions, cherries, and walnuts. Salad was good but not overly large (could have been just a bit larger for the price). Wish they had fresh ground pepper. They were out of hubby's first choice (white fish Po Boy) do he had the Neuske's BLT in a wrap which turned out to be an excellent second choice.
