Ok.... This is not only one of my rare 5 star reviews but the only 5 star review I've given to a BBQ place outside of Texas. Expectations are high for these places due to my past experience with BBQ competitions. That said ... I hit this place right after the lunch rush so I expected them to be out of some items and still trying to recover. Nope..they still were running full steam. Everything was back to normal and had a cool vibe to the place. They use full briskets and smoke them with the point on, great bark, good smoke ring, just pulled apart effortlessly, had onions and pickles, Cole slaw was fresh, moist, and had great flavor. Sausage was fantastic, pulled pork also on point. Baked beans had a good base flavor but not too much, I also like to throw some pork and sauce in it so it perfect for me. But the standout things about this place was the 3 meat plate was 22 BUCKS! Look at that pic! Portions were fantastic! Holy hell two people could have really shared that. They had an amazing selection of sauces. Places always say they have a spicy sauce, (and I love super hot food) but their Afterburner sauce had some legit zap. The other sauces were really just as good, - you're gonna want the "Best of both worlds". I make a ton of sauces and have entered several of my sauces into competitions, and I bought 3 pints... so it's legit. It's Veteran owned, owners are super cool. If I had to give them a negative mark on something would be the Pepsi, but I've ran restaurants and I do understand how much coke can be a pain to deal with, but easy to forget when you have a pile of brisket in front of you. Poppped in around 2:00pm on a Saturday afternoon. Dining room was about a quarter-full and Dolly was on the radio. I was greeted by a friendly face and given some tips on the menu. I ordered the two meat plate at the counter with smoked bologna and smoked chicken. My sides were mac and hush puppies and I had tea to drink. Food arrived quickly. The chicken is served sliced (which was a first for me) and it was nice and moist. The bologna had a nice light smoke flavor. The mac was THICK. In a good way. The hush puppies were good, just a little less sweet than I prefer. Tea was on point. This spot is less than 10 minutes from TYS and is absolutely worth a stop on your way too or from the airport. read more

I found this spot on Yelp looking for a place close to the airport to kill some time, and the ratings definitely match. The service was great, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The barbecue was really good. The ribs stood out, and while the brisket was just okay, the sauce made up for it. I tried the habanero, honey mustard and ghost pepper sauces and they were super hot but delicious. The mac and cheese was super creamy, and the greens were full of bacon and seasoned just right. We have been attempting to come here for several weeks.. they have great hours it just sells out before we can make it over or we decide on a day it's closed. It's a me issue. Very clean restaurant with military theme. The owners and operators are super friendly and kind. We ordered from the menu and found a seat. Self serve drinks which I love. They make all their sauces in house so it was hard to choose when ordering. The bbq was very good and came without sauce so you can add as much as you would like. They indicated a website will be in the works.. which I love knowing a menu before visiting. They also may eventually sell their sauces. Only two things I hope to see from this restaurant -more customer access to sauces. So either a sauce station or bottles at each table. I had a hard time deciding between all the amazing sounding ones. - a white or chalkboard menu board with specials. Oh my word! We drove up and the parking lot was empty. For a split second we thought twice about stopping. I'm so glad we went in. The lunch rush had just finished and the staff were so kind. We started with the Pork Rind Brisket nachos and they were BEYOND delicious. My husband had the smoked sausage and brisket plate, and I had the chicken. Everything was cooked to perfection. You know those places that you can tell they're gonna be awesome just by looking at them? This is one of them. We were looking for a BBQ place in the area, and this place was beckoning for us. My brother and I split the rack of ribs. I was very impressed, both with the flavor and texture. It wasn't fall-off-the-bone but rather bite all the meat clean off the bone, which in my opinion is perfect. We also got some fried okra, which always hits, as well as mac and cheese. Everyone left very happy with their meals. The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is basic, but in a great way where it's not extravagant or over the top. He had a smoked chicken sandwich and pickle fries. He tried the afterburner barbecue sauce, which was absolutely hot! But tasted great. Three slices came with my order. The ribs were heavily rubbed and very small. I'm not sure if I got the end of the rack, but it came with three ribs and they were underwhelming.
