I'm sorry to say this, and I have never put this in a review, before, but this place absolutely sucks!! This was a decent restaurant before it burned down. Since they have reopened, they have served old, dried out pork and their service issues are so bad that I had to wait 10 minutes in line, with only a single car in front of me, just to order, and another 10 minutes, with no car in front of me, for my order to be fulfilled...and it wasn't even what I ordered! This is one of the few times that I would say that you will receive better food and better service, to drive 10 minutes to their Broadway location, than deal with this failed location. A twenty minute wait for unappealing, old BBQ, with 1 car in line is what you get at the Magnolia Buddy's BBQ. Don't waste your money or your time at this dump. Buddy's has wonderful BBQ and sides at their other locations. I am really not sure why they reopened this one. read more

basically; good food, sad service. I've been wanting to try this food for awhile now, and was excited because from their allergen menu online it looked pretty accommodating to food sensitivities. The older lady who took our order was super rude when I asked specific allergen questions (what oil they used to fry things, if there was butter in the green beans, etc.), even after explaining my daughter had food allergies and I had to ask these questions. There wasn't even anyone behind me and they weren't busy. She just wanted to hurry off of her shift. I got the pulled pork and green beans, it was great! Dig the pig! That's their motto. It actually reminds me of a KFC, but pig instead of chicken. It's casual, you order at the front register, just like you do at a KFC. I was in the area today, attending a car show at the park across the street, and I thought it looked like a good place to stop. I checked the Yelp reviews before I decided though. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich dinner. It came with my choice of two sides and I chose potato salad and BBQ beans. The potato salad was the mustardy kind, not the white kind that I usually prefer. The beans weren't very barbecuey, they sort of tasted like they came straight from the can. The bun on the sandwich was huge, so I decided to just pick off the meat. I actually thought everything was tasty, especially for a fast food like place. Worth mentioning: my dad ordered the all you can eat BBQ ribs but he didn't care for them. The second batch, they offered to leave off the sauce and the lady who seemed to be a manager said "they would be better with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce". She was trying to be nice and she was. Dad said "see she works here and she doesn't even like the sauce". They only have two sauce options at the table, neither of which were great. If I could leave a negative review I would. The customer service was horrible. Girl at the counter didn't even acknowledge my existence, just stood at the register staring at the wall until I just started to order. I even said hello and smiled at her and she said nothing! She then asked us to give other customers their food when it came out!! By the time our food came out I already wanted to bail, the vibes were so off in this place. The food came out, my half chicken came smothered in bbq sauce and when I tried to dig in that's when I saw there was no meat on it!! My husbands pulled chicken sandwich had about a tablespoon on the worst looking meat you've ever seen. We just walked out. Left all our food uneaten. Didn't bother asking for our $30 back as we just wanted to get out of this twilight zone Buddy's BBQ. We go to the Buddys in Bristol VA all the time and it's great, maybe the one in Bristol is the only good one! Will NEVER go back here!! read more

We pretty much found this little hole in the wall driving through US40. Nisha was great- she took our order and she said since it's your first time you'll love our bbq. She wasn't wrong!! Food was delicious. They do need more workers to help with order taking and cooking. Nisha seemed overwhelmed with the amount of foot traffic the restaurant had, but she assured each customer with a pleasant attitude and a sweet smile. Stopped in on my way through Knoxville. Good food and a GREAT price! For the price of a meal at McDonald's, my dad and I had a ham dinner and a pulled pork dinner with all the fixins'. Pulled pork was good, as was the ham, though their BBQ sauce is not my favorite...the sides (green beans, corn, and baked beans), were all decent if a little underseasoned. I've never gotten a chance to actually eat inside a Buddy's on trips to Knoxville, but whenever my husband is on his way home from hiking trips with his buddies, he brings home a pound of Buddy's. It doesn't last long in our house! The sauce is good...not too sweet. Quality of meat isn't too bad. My next trip to Knoxville includes a wedding rehearsal dinner catered by Buddy's, so I'm excited. The barbecue was pretty good. They have an all you you can eat ribs on Saturdays. The sides were mediocre and the bun was just that, a bun wrapped in paper. A roll or a slice of bread would have gone better with the barbecue read more

The Buddy's Bar-B-Q on Broadway at the 640 overpass is a regular for me. I have been going there for years, the people are nice, the food is good.
