I have nothing but great things to say about this place! We've placed several bulk orders here, and they've consistently been excellent. Most recently, I placed a large online order before they even opened, and they went above and beyond by calling me to personally go over the order, make sure everything was correct, and confirm exactly what I wanted. That kind of customer service is hard to find! They were also incredibly helpful when I picked up the order and even helped load everything up. They made the entire process easy and stress-free. And, of course, the food is fantastic. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. The spicy chicken is especially good--great flavor with just the right amount of heat. Heard of this spot from some coworkers so I decided to try them for lunch. Your typical chicken theme restaurant interior. The name is what caught my attention; "hot chicken". It's because they have varying degrees of hotness!! Upon this realization, I retired to play it safe and opted for mild. I ordered the quarter chicken meal with baked beans and honey mustard on the side. They have several sauce options including ranch and their own comeback sauce. Unless you're someone who loves your face being on fire I would recommend sticking with mild. It gives you the best balance of flavor and heat. But they do have hotter. Even the mild may cause a few sweat beads but I thought it was delicious. Reminds me of classic southern fried chicken. If you're ever in the Dallas area they're worth a try. This is a HOT chicken place so selecting the level is crucial to enjoying each bite. My colleague ordered regular strips and fries, while I ordered a quarter dark at HOT level with fries. The food is brought to your table and you could see the strips are a good size. The moment arrived, and I took a bite of the leg. It was an explosion of flavor with the mixture of the dark meat and the hot seasoning. Each bite was great and you could taste the rub. At their old location, I'd normally order to go bc I didn't want to bother with parking. I do feel like their spice level has weakened here. I used to get the medium spice and it was enough. Now it did not hit at all. So I think I'll try hot next time. We love the potato salad the most. It is very good every time. I liked the Mac and cheese, my hubby was okay on it. Usually the service is great as I am a regular customer that visits often. . But after waiting 50 mins for a remake and watching people in n out the restaurant, they expect me to not be upset. I was told about the extra 5 mins to get wings fried hard. I ordered at 5:04pm.... Got the first order at 5:20pm and didn't leave until 6pm. I appreciate cook order but there is no way after the remake order is called make that another customer can walk in and order the same but more than you did n leave before you. Surprisingly the manager stated they gave him the 3 wings I didn't want ... WOW! But he ordered 6! I been sitting there watching orders being taken for 45 mins remember! I should have just sat down and had dinner elsewhere verses thinking I could go and get a quick meal in 15-20 mins. A chicken breast fried to perfection on a soft white toasted bun topped with well executed cole slaw. Almost perfect. Please come to California!! Whenever I am in a city that has Hattie, I definitely have to do a stop. This is a especially the best! The service here is excellent. They are very attentive. They come check on you at your table. there's tons of seating all over much larger than the other location. The food is amazing. I like a little so I usually go for the hot. I also prefer the bone in chicken over the chicken sandwiches. Make sure to eat the bread soaked in delicious spices. My favorite sides are the mac & cheese and the collard greens. I did get to try the cheesy grits, which were excellent too. It was nice, we were able to try shut the cluck up and it was way too hot for all of us. Once the Deep Ellum location closed (sadly near where I often stay downtown), I was happy to hear a new venue was opening in the Dallas area. I stopped by twice in October 2024 to try out the newly minted venue. Having been to several locations across the nation (most at the original location in Nashville), I know what Hattie B's heat levels should be. For my palate, hot is a the perfect level of tolerable heat. No big deal going down, digesting, or aftermath (shall we say). Damn hot--which I often order as well--should make me tear up while eating, stomach begs for dairy, and causes eye swelling struggle when I take out my contacts for the night. Two different visits, two different weeks, same meal (as seen for check-in photos)...sadly, the same experience--NO heat. While Damn Hot *looked* darker/brick red (like it typically does) my body responded no differently. And the truest test--taking out my contacts--wasn't anything challenging. Yelper Amari J. confirmed my challenge identifying too little heat as well. My take away--the new Turtle Creek/Oak Lawn site has a few kinks to work out if we're to put it on the same par as other locations. I'm unsure of Yelper Rick V. and Brandon B.; maybe they're not used to heat levels? I'm a HUGE fan of Hattie B's. If there's a location near where I'm traveling, it's a must visit for one of my meals. I can say the staff is crazy friendly, attentive, and supportive. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside but I found it lacking in seasoning and not evenly coated. I went for "Hot" and "Damn Hot" and was underwhelmed by the heat and overall flavor. For ease of comparison I'll just say that I prefer the chicken from Dave's. The sides received good reviews from our table as well. I especially enjoyed the Mac N Cheese which was creamy and unique with the pimento cheese. A downside from my visit was that it took 20 minutes for my food to be brought out. Literally, 20 minutes for a 3 piece chicken tender plate with Mac And Cheese. After 15 minutes I followed up with the front counter and they looked around frantically to see no food waiting then told the kitchen they needed number 3 ASAP. We are huge Hattie B's fans. We've been several times, always stopping when we're are in the area of one. This location is horrible. The staff is really friendly and the restaurant is really clean. The food is terrible and shouldn't even be allowed to use the name. We ordered medium and it had no seasoning whatsoever. I had grilled and my husband had breaded. The grilled chicken was lukewarm and chewy. They had only been open ten minutes. The Mac and cheese had the signature flavor but was very soggy noodles.
