We used these guys for our move from a third floor walk up (with killer stairs) to a first floor…read moreapartment in the city. Overall they had the best rates and don't charge extra for the truck or the travel fee (which is actually a fee for the time it takes a moving company to get to your place and then back home after the job is done). They were a bit slow to respond at first, but were very helpful in helping us prep for the move to reduce cost (making sure all is packed, having boxes of similar size stacked together because that's how they move them - by size and not by room designation). And they hustled. The moved ended up taking longer than we anticipated (lots of stairs!) but they ended up charging us less than we thought - they stopped by for lunch on the way to the new place and didn't charge us for that time. I don't believe they're insured, so not sure if I would recommend them if you have a lot of stuff. But they took good care of our IKEA stuff and I will use them again next time we move.

Positives - I got an early appointment slot when other companies couldn't, the movers were polite…read moreand did arrive ~15 minutes after calling to correct the address Negatives - Appointment window changed online with no notice; late arrival due to wrong address - Poor communication from office/management; repeated calls required - Crew appeared unprepared to handle the treadmill despite it being disclosed upfront - Significant wasted time waiting for guidance/additional help; unclear billing expectations - Manager canceled the job mid-move after items were already loaded/unloaded - Furniture left disassembled (bunk bed), screws missing, items left in different locations - Felt rushed during booking (pressure to pay deposit quickly) I booked College Hunks in Orland Park because they had the earliest available slot and I wanted to get the move done early. I called earlier in the day on Friday, compared quotes with a few companies, and clearly explained the job: moving one bunk bed, one dresser, and one treadmill a little under 20 miles from a townhome to a home. My appointment window was originally Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM. At 9:15, no one had arrived, and when I checked the booking link the window had changed to 9:30-10:30 without any communication. I called immediately, and at 9:21 one of the movers called to say they had gone to the wrong address and would be there in 15 minutes. They did arrive about 15 minutes later, and the job "start time" ended up being about 9:45 (which was reflected on the reservation tracker). Right away, the movers were concerned about the treadmill. I called the office to figure out how they planned to handle it and was told a manager would call me. No manager called, and instead a third person was sent out--which was fine--but I did not want to be charged for the ~35 minutes the crew was sitting and waiting for help. I called again and was told I'd be billed appropriately at delivery and that a manager would call "when they had a chance." At 10:35, 50 minutes into the start of the job, I received a call from one of the movers informing me that they were halfway complete and going to exceed the quoted time. He was unable to tell me how long that would take, and told me I would need to wait for a call from management to provide a new quote. Eventually a manager (Tim) called and said they couldn't take apart the treadmill because of wiring concerns, even though the crew had already started. When I asked what my options were, he suggested I pay another company to disassemble it and then pay College Hunks to come back, which made no sense. By this point, they had been on site for over an hour and I was told they had barely done anything--which wasn't true, because they had fully disassembled the bunk bed (see photos) Tim then canceled the entire job while items were still on the truck, and the crew unloaded everything into the garage, not where the items originally were. Screws were missing, furniture was left partially removed from the home. Tim refused to take my calls afterward, and the corporate line was not helpful beyond saying a manager would eventually get back to me. While I was refunded the fee, that doesn't fix the disruption and the mess left behind. The movers themselves were polite, but the overall professionalism, communication, and job assessment were extremely poor. I also felt rushed during booking--they told me I had only five minutes to use the link to pay the $50 deposit, which should have been a red flag. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. If you use them, expect major delays, unclear/changed time windows, and the possibility they may not complete the job even after disassembling your furniture.

I would give this company NEGATiIVE stars if I could. The reservation booker is very nice but does…read morenot tell the truth. I was assured I was paying from "pick-up to drop- off" time. Not from "office to office" I time. I specifically asked this question when I was booking the move as the rate is billed hourly and the pick up and drop off locations for my move were not close to New Lenox. I said I would use a more local company and was told "no problem - we don't charge for the time to get there or get back after we drop off the items". LIE LIE LIE - I was also not told the payment had to be made in cash - and it is nowhere on the paperwork I was sent! Also, I gave the drivers specific directions for the fastest route to the new location which they did not follow. I arrived at the location 1 and 1/2 hours BEFORE the truck. I drove on a route that trucks can use as well, so that excuse was negated. Then told the truck broke down and we would "negotiate" if I would pay for the additional time! Perhaps it did break down - I have no proof, but miraculously they appeared after I was told "they had fixed the truck themselves". The "office person" was extremely rude and a total liar! (Never heard from the orginal booking person again. I do want to say that the actual movers were very nice and I have no issues with them what so ever except that they work for a horrible company!

We were closing out our storage unit and had to move about 50 boxes into my Mom's apartment. Andrew quoted me their minimum move at 2 and a half hours. The price was so reasonable - less than a month at the storage facility! Joel and Jose arrived promptly on time after calling me and confirming the details. They moved everything so efficiently, leaving space for my Mom to move around the room with her walker. Really kind, professional and great guys - request them if you can! They did everything in the time I was quoted and did an amazing job! Some of those boxes were large and heavy... I'll use Alamo Movers for all of my future moves if I can! I love working with a company who cares, and does excellent work.
