I just moved from an apartment in downtown Chicago to a house in Crestwood. The guys were great! They helped me to get organized at my apartment and helped arrange my furniture at the house. This is the original poster. Couple things to clarify - I do not work in the moving industry. We moved into an oversized Georgian. And the couch mentioned was a u-shaped sectional that split into three pieces. We were also personally able to move a separate 7 foot couch into the space without issue, post move. Weeks after my initial review, I did have a lengthy argument with the owner, Chuck, and was called a "liar". The conversation resulted in the rate for the damaged products and 3/4 of an hour of the moving time being refunded. Total refund was $127.50 for the moving refund (10% of total move cost) and $59.10 in damages (damage to a storm door and a Peloton Bike at the standard $0.30/lb rate agreed to in the contract). I submitted this claim as contractually indicated via certified mail, with photos of the damage and dates of the phone conversation where the 3/4 of an hour refund rate was agreed to. Yelp is a site used to inform others about consumer experiences. I would hate anyone in my neighborhood to be put in the position I was in, when my only goal was for a successful, seamless move. If that makes me a "squeaky wheel", so be it! read more

We had several items that were damaged during this move. Per the owner, Chuck's recommendation we wrote a letter itemizing what was damaged. You can find portions of our letter down below: "During this move a bookshelf was broken. The bookshelf was split in half. It was a five tier bookshelf. It weighed around 75 pounds. Our daughter's wooden Beauty and the Beast castle's tower piece broke off in the move. It is missing the screw to put it back on the castle. Three bed wheels were also lost on the full bed frame. These weigh nothing and will not be hard to replace, it's just disappointing that they were lost. The final item that was lost/damaged was a black metal bar foot rail bracket. There were five when they were moved by your company from our Oak Lawn house and stored in your warehouse, and now there are four. The furniture store that this bar was purchased at (Wright's Brothers Furniture) closed and reopened in a new location. The bar is no longer for sale and it was a custom bracket for the bar. We spent time searching for a replacement, but we have not found one that matches it. We paid over 400 dollars to have this professionally disassembled and reassembled by your carpenter. To have paid extra money for the bar and not have it returned in the same condition has been very upsetting. We have to say after you charged us extra to store and categorize everything for hours to then lose and break so many items has been disappointing to say the least." I had to call and text Chuck several times. Each time he said he would look and get back to me. I had to initiate every call/text. Finally after I wrote the above letter I received a call that the bar piece was found in his warehouse. He did drop it off at my house. Still waiting to see if we receive any other reimbursement. We locked up our moving date with Chuck March Movers 2 months in advance. As you would imagine such a date is important when it comes down to such an event and contracts and money. What happened the Friday before my scheduled move on Monday...was truly unbelievable. I proactively called Chuck Friday night to talk and confirm things when he started to mention his concern of possible snowy conditions...happening Monday morning. Getting to the point, he refused to even consider waiting to see what the weather did on Monday and walked away from us with just days to a move and a heavy contract fine we were hit with. I understand liability and concerns, but to have left us in that position days before even seeing the weather!!! really screwed us over and I was left with a heavy daily fee to stay in my house...We ended up going with Herder Brothers and you should too, they stood by their promise. read more

I would recommend this moving company. Chuck the owner was great to work with. Our move was a challenging moving from the suburbs on Feb 6, out to a country house.. We had a whole house to move he sent two 24ft trucks and four guys. They were very polite, wrapped each piece of furniture with care. They packed so much stuff in the first truck, they really know how to pack a truck! When we received the estimate he provided he said that should be more than enough and it was, we had a little left over. A friend recommended this company and I am the type that likes to read reviews before hiring someone, but I am glad that we went with this company. We were all moved in one day. March Movers is excellent! Prompt & courteous. They pre-wrapped every piece of furniture and rubber banded it protecting all my doorways and furniture! Also free of charge they provided free "wardrobe boxes" that were a life saver to me! All I had to do is hang my clothes on the metal bar. Being a single they truly helped me and they set up all my beds, mirrors, placed furniture in its correct place! Highly recommend!!!! read more

We were not satisfied with the condition of our furniture during this move. Our stove, refrigerator and furniture was damaged. Still have not received restitution of any kind and it has been five months since our move. Definately use at your own risk. read more

1.0 star rating 12/4/2017 Absolutely horrible service! I needed a 1 bedroom and one living room moved at a rate of 120.00 and hour cash ONLY for three men. The cash only should have made me rethink using March movers immediately but I was in a bind. The move should have taken them 3 hours at most and was stretched out to 5 1/2 hours. They decapitated the head off of a very precious statue and a huge dent in the center of the TV. The TV no longer works. When spoke to Mr. March on the phone. He assured me that they were licensed and bonded at no extra charge. They have been around for years. I should have trusted my instincts and looked around for someone else but was in a bind and needed items to be moved ASAP. I wonder if the government is aware of this cash-only business. I even tipped them 75.00 but that was before I saw my broken items and TV. When I called them about what had happened Mr. March was extremely rude and hung up the phone. Needless to say I will never use them again and strongly advise any one else not to use them! read more
