Went on Tue night 90's music. The music was pretty weak, however the Bartender made it worse by being jerk after I asked him to give me a regular 2oz pour instead of the 1oz he put in my Jack & Coke. This place is different, bright exotic colors and a few plants give it an added flair! Entrance is a bit weird though and very hidden, since it's in the middle of a parking lot. There's no real dance floor and getting in & out will guarantee you to get squished, especially while making your way to the bar to get a drink. It's also very normal to have your feet stepped on, hair in face, elbowed, etc. The music is alright, with a balance of really good songs, and some really bad ones. It also isn't well ventilated so be prepared to sweat or at least drip in sweat. Can't have it all! Overall, an A-OK club in Cap Hill. What's cool: - Entrance: It is located at a corner of a dimly-lit parking garage. - Inner decor: The high ceiling, paired with a tall shelf of drinks to one side of the room, definitely gives lots of grandeur to the rather small space. - People: a rather wide range of people, not pretentious and very cap hill feel! Stifling hot in there. I guess they were going for the real feel of Habana (which is the correct way to spell it). A bit snotty for Capitol Hill; the crowd is more Belltown. Still, not a bad place to go with your friends. If you're a beer drinker, they have the Czech Pilsner (what real beer should taste like). read more

This review is based solely on Thursday soul night. I have not been any other night. I love old R&B and soul and the mix here on Thursdays is awesome. There is a nice little upstairs section for hanging out with friends in between dancing. It's not to douchy and seems to consist mainly of local neighborhood people opposed to the bridge and tunnel crowd. My only complaint is that they do not have a coat check. Not such a problem in the summer but during the cold months it sucks having to try and hide/stash your coat. I had my bachelorette party here and it was so much fun. read more

If you're in the cap hill area I highly recommend this spot. It gets super crowded but it's worth staying for an hour or so. Downfall is cover charge of course but that's pretty typical at most "clubs." They do Throwback Thursdays which is all old school music from Otis Redding to 90s Hip-Hop and R&B. Be aware of the cocktail waitresses though. When it gets packed they tend to pop out of nowhere, but can't blame them. This place is the most fun on Halloween. I love Havana! My 2 friends and I held our birthday party there last month and it was wonderful. We were taken care of the whole night and the experience was great. Everyone enjoyed the dancing and music, definitely recommended for a great dance vibe in a classy environment! We're planning on hosting many more parties at Havana in the future :) the only hitch is that like many others have said it isn't the easiest to find, But simply tell anyone meeting you to look for the black awning in the parking lot across from cafe vita and you're golden! read more

I've only been here once, on a Saturday night, so I don't know what it's like on other nights. I got here early, a little before 10 p.m. (since women get in for free before 10, which is a big plus for me). The place was pretty dead when I got there, but I ordered a drink and sat at the bar people-watching until probably 10:30, when the dancing really started. The bartenders were all friendly and seemed pretty competent to me. The drinks were priced reasonably - 6 bucks for a gin and tonic. The music was pretty good, but I'm not super picky about my clubbing music, so take that with a grain of salt. There were a LOT of girls there in groups, just dancing with other girls. This isn't a bad thing, just something I noticed. There weren't any creepy guys (which I had been nervous about) on the dance floor, but maybe they showed up later. I ended up dancing with a really cute guy and we left around 11:15. One really annoying thing, though, is that even though they give you a stamp so you can get back in, you still have to wait in line. I forgot to close out my tab, and when I asked to go back in ahead of the line (which at that point was super long and slow), the bouncer said that he would just have someone bring my card out to me instead. He did it nicely, and I know he was just doing his job, but they should make it more obvious that you can't just walk back in. Overall, though, I had a great time! And there was a coat check, even though Yelp says that there isn't one. I didn't use it, since there were plenty of places to stash my stuff, but it was there. read more

Thursday nights are where its at and let me tell you it is AMAZING! This is because thursday is their soul night. I danced my ass off, it was a blast dancing to the old music. Its just so groovy! If you're tired of going to a club where everyone is grinding and having sex on the floor this is a nice change you wont see any of that there. I'm not a huge fan of paying a cover ($10 when I went) but in this case, it was worth it! It was a crowded sweaty Friday night there but somehow we managed to squeeze our way through the masses to position ourselves right in front of the fan. Score. Drinks were pretty quick considering how busy they were. Our bartender kept apologizing profusely for the wait while he made other people's drinks and then began taking our order with another apology for the wait. I don't expect atonement from busy bartenders but it was refreshing that he actually cared about our waiting! Plus the drinks were strong! Double score. My only concern was a rotten floor board that my foot kept slipping into which could have made things really bad on the dance floor. But once we moved up to the fan area, that was no longer a problem! There was no line for the women's restroom but there was one for the men's... was I in a parallel universe? i can understand the haters. i noticed in seattle, especially in capitol hill where i live, there is this love for cheap drinks, dives, and low-key atmosphere. but honestly, sometimes me and my girlfriends want to go and dance. and beside the gay clubs, there are not that many options in capitol hill to dance. havana is one of those places to get your dancin on. and if you think the drinks are too expensive, then walk across the street to cha cha or one of the other dives and load up first. you get stamped and there are in's and out's. yes, there is a $7 cover on saturdays but let's be happy it's not more than that. yes, it's super crowded but would u really want to dance in an empty club? it's always such a great sight for me walk into a club, with the dj spinning "my song", everyone dancin and having a good time. p.s. thanks for the other review who mentioned that havana is located across from Cafe Vitta with a black awning. i never noticed havana before that. read more

This place is pretty cute. Endearing little space. The bartender was friendly. The drinks are on the average pricey end of things. This place is pretty awful due to service the friendliness of staff, DJ - music sucks on Saturday 9/22. The staff just really don't care. Small dance floor. Decor is great. The crowd is not so bad - but ratio is kinda off with more boys than girls, more Belltown than cap hill. It's freaking hot in there, and they loose a star bec they do not have a coat check. GREAT MUSIC. Blend of hip-hop, reggaeton, and dub step when I was there on a Saturday night. Then why will I never return? Because it's CRAZY DARK. The first thought that popped into my head when I went inside was, "This place is determined to keep its energy bill very low." I just can't get over how dark it was. It felt like I was dancing in a room in which the lights had gone out. Like, I could see, but I couldn't make out colors. Additionally, it gets WAY too packed; definitely a fire hazard. i'm always pretty buzzed by the time i make it into Havana... so the memories are rather vague. however - i do the inconsistent cover charges are confusing. some days are $1, some are $5 and some are $10! the venue itself is rather small but always packed. plus side? its fun when its packed and the music is pumpin and usually some pretty good lookin people roamin around... the minus side? its too damn small! u can't walk around and scope things out, you can barely dance without rubbin up on other sweaty people. and with one one bar... it can take some time to get a drink. either or, what ever the cover charge may be - just make sure you have that same amount of fun! read more

I came here on Saturday after a company party and it was like a block away. I Just gotta say it smells likes crap inside. Like a mix of really bad b.o. and crap. The music is pretty good, transitions are OK. The people that come are a mix variation. I guess I'm more used to Asian clubs or gay clubs. I would give this place four stars because the actual bar and music is fun inside, except for the completely power tripping bouncer that they employ. He was extremely rude to me and multiple of my other friends this past weekend for "standing too far to the left in line." He chose three separate people of our ten or so person group to shout at for no reason. I get that it was late at night and he was probably just stressed out, but there is no reason to be so rude to people that are acting appropriately and just want to come in and spend some money and have a good time at your bar. Since I'm American, I won't be seeing Cuba any time soon, so I guess this is what it looks like. I think it feels more like you are in some rich friend's mansion. My girlfriends and I decided to stop in one night after grabbing dinner at a Mexican spot literally right next door. We waited about 15 minutes before we got in, it was okay since it was a Friday night and (thankfully!) not raining. The wait for a drink wasn't long, especially if you have no problem pushing to the front (like me). I'm vertically challenged so I usually get passed over by bartenders but there was a good amount of them on staff so I never waited long. Duper crowded but decent dance music, the tables in the back were almost always empty for us so we had no problem finding a place to sit for a minute or two. I find that here in seattle, djs tend to be mediocre at best, (if I want to hear songs played in their entirety, I will just use pandora!) but not the case at Havana, those djs were mixing!
