I wouldn't care if they didn't serve a thing. This place is absolutely gorgeous. There's just something about stepping in here on a sunny and warm fall morning. It's delightful, I tell you. We didn't even have a full breakfast. We opted for coffee and pastries instead...homemade donut, chocolate croissant, coffee cake, blueberry muffin. The cardamom ginger scones are addictive. Coffee satisfied this picky coffee snob nicely. The blueberry pancakes are huge, fluffy, and incredibly delicious. Don't ask for substitutions in any of the breakfast plates...the air will get decidedly chilly. read more

We went to Haven after a long search for coffee in the Stockbridge/Lenox area and I was left less than impressed. We didn't stay to eat - we simply wanted to order and keep moving on with our coffee in and around town. At first, we were a bit confused, as when you walk in, it's not very clear what to do - you walk almost immediately into tables of people eating and it takes you a moment to understand that you should move to the back of the cafe to order. Once we got to the counter, we placed our coffee/beignet order after a few minutes of being somewhat ignored and then, we realized that we had to step aside to get out of the way of the dine-in customers that were ordering at the same counter we were at and also, out of the way for the staff that is sharing the same path that we're standing in as they try to collect/receive/deliver food. It's very, very congested. I might be able to overlook that as one of the eccentricities of the place, if it didn't take (literally) almost 20 minutes to get 2 lattes. Nothing complicated - just 2 skim lattes. 20 minutes. The barista didn't have any orders ahead of ours and nothing else happening, that I could see. She was just standing there taking her time, looking around, having conversations....just not working on our order. Once we finally got the orders, it was very unclear as to where to add sweetener and such because the counter with milk/creamers/sweeteners is in the other corner of the restaurant and looks like it's a servers station - not a counter where customers should be prepping drinks. It's situated in a lovely area and it has all the potential to be a great place but it doesn't live up to the expectations. The day after, I went to Lenox coffee, which is located just one block or so up the street from Haven and it was a true cafe, with coffee and service and attention to back it up. Everything we ordered was delicious. Arugula salad, vegeterian omlete, buttermilk pancake, tuna salad sandwich, and turkey sandwich. All farm to fresh delicious with great service. U have to order food first with the cashier, they give u a # to post at ur table which u have to find seating for urself or ask one of the wait staff to help u find a table. They bring out the food looking for ur #. Place was packed at 11:30 on Sun but surprisingly 6 of us were able to get a table. read more

I just love this place. They have a small but delicious menu of breakfast and lunch items and a gloriously huge selection of mouth-watering bakery treats, plus outstanding coffee. There's really very little more I could ask for. From the breakfast menu, the croissant French toast is excellent, as are any of their egg dishes. All of the salads or sandwiches from the lunch menu are guaranteed to be good, but the grilled polenta--served with pesto, goat cheese, shitake mushrooms, and onion confit--is stellar. The decor is comfy, New England casual charm, with heavy wood tables and chairs, white paint, and local art work. There are so many amazing-looking goodies in the pastry case, it's a struggle to choose. A good struggle. This is possibly the best place to go for coffee & a pastry in the Berkshires. read more

We've been to Haven multiple times and always have a fresh, delicious meal. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly and the specials are always interesting. A little pricey for breakfast though. Breakfast shouldn't cost $15 and up. read more

This is my little bit of NYC in the Berkshires. I love that it is locally owned,that they use local products and are simply some nice folk. While I treated myself to wonderful macchiato a few weeks earlier, as I was craving a truly strong and delicious coffee like my old stomping grounds of Darling Coffee in NYC, I was just as pleased when my Dad came for a visit and we enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Ample portions, and FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! I am so glad this local joint is opened year long for us locals. I couldn't decide if I should give this a 2-star or 3-star review, think of it as a 2.5 star. Grabbing a menu and ordering at the counter was a little weird because you end up standing at the entry table for like 5 minutes while you decide what to get. Service: What *service*? Cashier was friendly but slow to attend to us. They give you a number and then bring your drinks and food around. Drink #1 was delayed because the woman bringing it looked all around the room before finding us. We weren't hidden. Drink #2 arrived from a man who didn't say a word to us. Food came fairly quickly to no fanfare. Missed the baguette my husband was promised after asking if his meal came with toast. If we wanted to ask about its disappearance we would have had to go back up to the counter. We figured there was no point. Food: It's alright - good. Husband really liked his cappuccino. My chai was spicy but still not up to my chai standards. I got the croissant french toast. It's a croissant split in two and cooked like french toast. Is it tasty? Yes. Did I think what an innovative thing when I saw it on the menu? Yes. Was it worth the asking price? No - it's a croissant cooked like french toast with a few blueberries. Exceptional! The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was phenomenal. I am not big on breakfast, but, my husband is and this worked out beautifully. I had the veggie omelet, stuffed with crimini and shiitake mushrooms, a wonderful onion confit and spinach. The eggs were locally sourced and a beautiful dark yellow. It came with a side of roasted potatoes with roasted garlic, field greens and sour dough bread. To die for! My hubby had the Haven Breakfast with pancakes, eggs and bacon and a large glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Couldn't leave with a to-go bag of fresh pastries! I was visiting from NY and we got up too late to have breakfast at the Cranwell. The wait staff at the resort told up about Haven. It's a very casual place and the food was outstanding. It took a moment to figure out their seating system. You have to order and pay and then find a seat. We were there on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was very crowded so seating could be an issue when the lines are long. They are pretty good at keeping it moving. Great food though. read more

One of our favorite Berkshire places. I love the setup - order at the counter and pay - reminiscent of one of my favorite LA restaurants - Urth Cafe in Santa Monica. The food is locally sourced, fresh and delicious. The little ones love the pancakes and back shelves that have some crayons, coloring books and some toys! I've had everything on the menu and it's all great. The bakery case has wonderful sweets for a quick tea and something - and they make cold brewed ice coffee - something we love (and make at home!) They recently opened in Great Barrington have to try it when we are down there. read more

Local, organic. Woot! Should be called Oasis cafe. Local and organic haven't really caught on in the Berkshires. The staff was friendly, there was no wait for seating, and the food was good, and the value proposition was in line with the product, although folks looking for diner prices will think them high. But they're not gouge-tourists high. Totally normal in align with Minneapolis, where I moved from. The southwest omelette was a little overpowered by its salsa, but I think it's by design. It's like an unsavory omelette. Interesting. Just don't use the salsa, and it's back to a savory omelette. I would order it again, and recommend it, but I haven't eaten anything else yet. Place was awesome. The food & coffee was amazing. The staff was very friendly and prompt. It did get very busy on that Sunday morning so we did have to wait for a table but it was worth it. It did cost $40 for 2 people just for breakfast but what do you expect, it's pretty much gourmet food. I got the smoked salmon scrambled eggs, it came with caramelized onions which was so good. I travel for business throughout the New England Area and enjoy trying new places and have to use my companion Amex for all charges. Great place for breakfast/brunch. We usually spend weekends in the summer in Becket, and don't usually travel far for breakfast or brunch. We happen to be up in the Berkshires for a party during the winter and planned to meet my mother somewhere for breakfast. After a quick yelp search I was between two places. Spoon (I think that's the name) was the first place that came up and looked good. I was going to suggest that, but when I looked on the map in Google, it said it was closed so I went back to yelp to look for another option. Haven looked like it had a great menu with fresh and healthy options. There was a small line to order, but quick and friendly service and plenty of seats. Everyone enjoyed their food and we will be adding this to our list of places to frequent the next time we venture out for breakfast. read more
