    slow roasted lamb

My husband and I came here to try their 3-course tasting menu for $110 a few months ago. I feel like this restaurant is popular because it's aesthetically pleasing with a beautiful bar and patio. It's a nice place to drink as their cocktails are huge. However I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner as the food fell short. The tasting menu included 1 appie to share between the 2 of us: tempura coconut prawns: it was clear the oil needed to be changed. The batter was dark and the shrimp was dry. 2 entree's: slow roasted lamb: this is the only dish that I didn't mind as the lamb wasn't overcooked, there was a lot of sauce and the the mac n cheese fritter was a nice side. 8oz AAA New York striploin: we ordered rare and our steak was cooked medium. The server told us "it may look more cooked because you're sitting outside, but I can return it to the kitchen." I feel like servers are trained to say that, but the second steak we received was actually cooked rare and had nothing to do with the sunlight. 1 dessert: pb & j cheesecake: this dessert was disgusting. It was like raspberry jelly on top of a rock hard layer of frozen peanut butter. Not what we pictured for cheesecake. We only took a few bites and left.

Gorgeously designed and aesthetically pleasing 5 star interiors that really enhanced the dining experience. Even the restrooms were beautiful. Had a lettuce wrapped Haven burger with sub kale Caesar salad and pbj cheesecake for dessert. Food was pretty good prob 4 stars. The menu is almost all fully sweet or with a sweet sauce/dressing fyi.

Absolutely delicious dishes here! Cooked to perfection. Beautiful, great ambiance. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable servers Will definitely recommend and come back! Too Notch

I don't know what the hype is all about - their food and service was both mediocre. The waitress wasn't too tentative as she was busy talking to her colleague. I came here on Dec.2nd with my mother wanting to try this place when it first came out but it was just OK. Burger price is basically the similar price to Joey's slightly more!

Pretty cool tropical themed restaurant by Willowbrook. Parking is available in the lot next to the building. I must say that the interior is fantastic. They nailed the tropical haven theme. There are plenty of trees, and lantern looking lights. Looks like most of the seating is actually in the upstairs mezzanine. Staff are friendly and professional. Food is pretty pricy here. My friends and I had already eaten, so we shared a dish of dill pickle fried chicken wings. There are some 10 wings in total. Nice and crispy, and the pickle slices add a bit of tang. Delicious. Definitely a good venue for spending an evening over some drinks . Recommended.

Haven was just heavenly. Came here on a whim for some late night eats and everything we had was just perfect. Started off with some crunchy tempura coconut prawns. The taste was perfect and the dipping sauce had a nice sweet heat as well. The poke bowl was a little overwhelming with the sesame chips as the ratio was a bit off to how much poke there was. Either cut down on the chips or increase the poke. My favourite dish was the noodles. Bursting with flavours that was sweet and tangy. The noodles were cooked well. My only disappointment was the lemongrass chicken skewer just tasted mostly like lemon. It's missing that authentic Asian lemongrass taste. Other than that, we enjoyed the service and ambiance of the place as a perfect date spot. Music wasn't too loud so you could carry on a conversation and it was nicely decorated.

This was my first time visiting Haven, and I was immediately impressed by their outdoor decor! The plants and waiting area with a fire pit felt very cozy and classy. Going inside, the decor felt bright and modern, with a lot of patterns and cool wallpaper. Service was friendly and attentive. As I was visiting on a Monday, it was all day happy hour, so my partner and I shared the Pipikaula ribs. I felt it was too salty, but the crisp outside and tender meat inside was perfect for me. The dipping sauce was okay for me - I think it could have done well with a little more acid to balance out the rib. The pork belly dish had wonderful hearty flavours! The sauce pulled everything together, along with the mushrooms and cabbage. The pork was tender and flavourful. The piece was very large and fatty (as it was pork belly), so we ended up taking a decent amount home. The salmon was cooked perfectly too! It was seasoned well, though I found the sauce to be too acidic and not sweet enough. I liked the charred gai lan and pea shoots garnish as it added to the freshness of the dish. The whipped potatoes for both entrées were done well! Smooth and soaked up flavours. I would come back to try more appetizers and entrées!

I believe I gave a 5 star review of Haven a while back. I remember enjoying it so much I went again to celebrate a friend's birthday and we loved it. This was 2 years ago. I recently went back to celebrate another friend's birthday, and while the ambiance and staff were amazing, the food was sadly not up to par. Everything tasted lile something was missing. My dish was good, but it was quite plain and not worth the cost imo. My friend ordered the noodle salad and that was quite disappointing. I could see she was not pleased. The truffle fries, which I recalled being one of my faves there was also quite lackluster. I know the last couple years with inflation have probably impacted their food, but it's such a shame considering I really loved this place. I would still go here with friends and hope we just went on an off day!

The interior is gorgeous!! We sat in the patio area, and our server was great. tempura cauliflower - good flavours, but we had to request more sauces cuz it felt a bit dry sweet potato hummus - highly recommend, very yummy nitro shaft, moscow mule - the drinks were good!

Lamb with a mac and cheese fritter. Delicious.

Great place. Good service, excellent food, and a great environment. Its the best place I've been to in the GVA so far.

Haven has that strong positive, lively party vibe in a quite family friendly way. There are two floors and a patio inside the restaurant. Decor is great, wallpaper and pictures on the wall adds the glamorous touch to everything. Food wise the variety is abundant. Good mix of American and other cuisines. Drinks menu is also full fledged. Great place to hangout and I must say that patio is very private so amazing choice for a small get together or Christmas party. I will definitely visit again as I want to try more stuff. Two dishes we tried were outstanding. Cod fish was so fresh and I highly recommend the cocktail called zombie for rum lovers. Spicy peanut noodle bowl has just the perfect broiled flavour of peanut. Nothing too strong but yummy. Parking is plenty

I came here with someone because I wanted to check it out. The ambiance is really nice inside and pretty and there's no shortage of private restrooms in the place which is nice. The only thing is for someone celiac or gluten intolerant there aren't many options. I did have to modify my order which was a lettuce wrap and a salad on the side but I swear the portion of the patty was so tiny. It looked like I got half of a patty so needless to say I had to have some snacks after we left the place. Our server was very friendly and attentive though. I guess this is more of a place you go for cocktails/drinks. It's a beautiful restaurant and the presentation of the food is really nice but I wish they would add more gluten free items to their menu or not have gluten in some of the sauces. Also it would be nice for them to have bigger portions, not so tiny. The lettuce wrap was good though but just not filling. The meal the other person had looked pretty appetizing but of course I couldn't eat that.

Equivalent to a Cactus Club, you'll find tasty menu items such as coconut shrimp tempura, poke, and noodle bowls; lively music and trendy vibes, and great service from all the workers.

We came in a little before 8 and there was no one there. I had to double check with the staff to make sure they were open. Lucky for us though since no one else was there we were able to get a table for a group of 9 right away. Our server Becca was awesome. She looked after us and made sure our drinks were always filled. We decided to get the punch bowl to share. I'm just going to say that we ended up ordering 3 of these bowls and I woke up the next morning with a Top 5 hangover. These tasted like juice and I just remember my glass never being empty. I also remember having a taste of their mojito, which was delicious. As the night went on the place began to fill up and by the time we left it was packed. A musician came in at some point in the evening and performed some island tunes, which added to the fun island tiki vibe. Overall, the Tiki Bar was a ton of fun and it was a Saturday well spent. I'm so happy that we could be part of their opening night. I'd love to come back to try some of their different cocktails soon.

So to say I was extremely excited is an understatement. We ordered the Sourdough (with House Cultured Butter, Vancouver Island Sea Salt) Shiitake (with Soy Braised Squash, Kelp, Ginger,Lemongrass) Cabbage with Brown Butter and Pomme Dauphinois Harvest which was house made ravioli stuffed with chicken of the woods. For dessert the Plum with Fig Leaf, Miso Honeycomb and Thai Basil Sourdough was good. No arguments there. The shiitake was fine, palatable. The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water. This pasta has never heard of water. Easily one of if not THE WORST PASTA I've ever had at a restaurant in the past few years. Thank goodness the plum dessert was yummy. Very good. But truly I don't understand why people rave about The Acorn. I love food. Im a vegetarian but it's hard to comprehend why it's so hyped. Maybe there was a new cook? Maybe it was an off night? Crossed off my Vancouver bucket list. It took me a while to write this review because I frankly was in shock the contrast between the actual food vs the lore it has around town. The highlights were a basic sourdough and a well balanced dessert. That just feels so wrong.

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? That said service is slow, with details that should be spot on, not even evident. Water glasses left empty forever, promises made, not even brought up again. When the reservation was made a question was asked of an event for the dinner out. A 60th birthday was mentioned, acknowledged, and when sat by our server and nothing further. To be fair K would rather it all go by unannounced, but when it's all over the paperwork a small recognition should be there. The space itself, is not on a rooftop at all, but it's a beautiful high ceilings restaurant that deserves a far better kitchen. Our price fixe menu for two at $155 or so was definitely not worth the price at all. The steak was uniformly medium when med rare was the ask. There was a tiny bit of medium rare at one end, but the vast majority was medium or more. The torch of the butter on the steak, looked good from afar prior to our serving, but right in front of you looks almost comical. Our breakfasts were average at best, again service was ok, but the food was not where it should be, in fact not even close. We'd ponder staying at the hotel again due to location, but we'd not eat here.
