In a town known for excellent service and class, it is immediately obvious why The Hair Lounge and its staff are not located downtown. They do not uphold that standard. Upon arriving a few minutes late, we were told they were unable to accommodate us in a very condescending tone. They stated that they were fully booked the rest of the day (only one of the five stylists had a client in their chair when we arrived). Furthermore, the problem with their inhospitable confrontation, is that they have an online appointment system. It showed over a dozen other appointments available, including two 15 minutes from when we were there. We told the owner and two other stylists that we just moved (and were smiling from ear to ear from the move and engagement) to which the owner responded disgustfully, "welcome to the neighborhood". Rather than be in there a second longer or reschedule, we paid $90 to cancel and left. You may think higher prices reflect better service, but this place disproves that completely. We are more than happy to take our business elsewhere, there are too many better options. I expected better.

Do Not Step foot into this salon unless you are ready to receive the worst service you could ever imagine. My mother and I both went through near traumatizing experiences here, and since have been Gaslit, Lied to, Accused and Blamed for the work of their stylist, Betty Jean. My mother, at the same time had her hair done by the owner, Cindy, who disregarded her many requests for a ponytail updo, Cindy proceeded to insist on a bun on top of her head with hair falling out all over the place. This was for a wedding and we rushed home to remove everything they had done to us. Unfortunately my haircut was irreversible. WHACKY UNSAFE PLACE. Read other reviews past mine and the owners Gaslighting responses to reconsider ever coming near this salon. Cindy's response can be seen below, she says the photos of my damaged hair don't match the video of me leaving. That's because my hair was curled, which hides the jagged edges and irregularities, I HADNT EVEN SEEN THE DAMAGE YET. Cindy is great and very skilled as a hairstylist. And, she's a lovely person who treats people well, ethically, and fairly. She has the knowledge and the ability to cut my hair really well which is a challenge because I have a lot of natural wave in my hair. I've had some dubious haircuts from other hairdressers who simply couldn't figure out how to cut hair with that much wave. She cares about her clients and the clients of the other hairstylists, too. Haven carries some great hair products as well, but there's never any pressure to buy them, just useful information about the products relevant to my hair. I recently moved to Santa Barbara and needed to find a new hair salon. It's always scary going someplace new - especially for color! I had read good things about Haven Salon so I made an appointment and was scheduled with Amber. Amber did such an excellent job on my hair (even better than my last stylist.) She covered my grays, corrected my color and evened out my highlights. She also educated me on products that would support my color and treatments and she used these products on me so I could see what they do. I can't wait to try them at home! What a hidden gem! Jen is absolutely phenomenal! Not only is she super friendly and sweet, she is so knowledgeable about everything especially color - she not only make you look amazing now but think about making it last! The salon is supremely decorated, relaxed and peaceful feeling. Parking is super easy, right on coast village road - park right in the front. Go at lunch time and you can order lunch in! So easy. I gave my wife a gift certificate for Christmas with Cindy the owner. All I can say is Wow!!! She looks 10 yrs. younger great job Cindy! I also go there for my hair cut. I've been seeing Shantal for several months the best cut I've ever had! Today I asked her if she could trim my goatee I walked in and she took care of me right away! She felt that using a curling iron on my hair was a good idea, and she curled against the curl, which makes my hair go straight. Maybe that works on straight hair, but with any curl, it will go straight and just be a flat lump, especially with hairspray on it. Then she cut some extra when it was dry, but that left some parts of my hair longer in some places. My hair is more than just curly. It's curly on the first day, but over the days after a shower, the curl flattens out. I like an even underlying cut.
