They gave me a complementary water while I waited. I asked them what I owed them. The mechanic replied, "Nothing." He explained that they had simply added some washer fluid, but nothing else was necessary. That's honest! The reason I went there today, was that I had previously received fantastic service back in November. I pulled out a five dollar bill to give the man a tip, and he vehemently refused. how they do business. This is the place. Look no further.

Bob stepped in to offer assistance and help me and offered referrals. Extremely grateful for Bob. The peace of mind on the quality of care and commitment to excellence truly does still exist and this is the place to have those expectations met. Nice! I still went ahead with it. It took a little longer than expected since they couldn't find the key to my wheel lug nuts (surprise!) Which would have caused havoc if that had happened on the side of the road. Glad they found the issue. Ready the next day and for a reasonable charge. Also a local U-Haul dealer and known for their quirky sign. Would recommend their services.

I didn't have a copy of my insurance card; the young lady was kind enough to print a copy for me from my online policy. I had a daytime running light that had been out of service for weeks. I fully expected to pay for that in addition to the cost of inspection. Apparently the wiring was loose so I was not charged. In today's environment that level of honesty is extraordinary. They are honest and direct about the repairs they do, always explaining options or necessities, prices, etc. Their pricing is solid too. But the BIG point I want to make here is about the character behind the business. I had some rather extensive repairs done on my car last year. Shortly after which I had to travel to Massachusetts for medical reasons, needing to stay in Massachusetts for surgery and a fairly long PT rehab. During this time I had difficulty with my car. I was told my car needed the same repair John's shop had done on my car...big $$$. I knew it couldn't be true but had no idea what to do. I reached out to John HAUSER'S and John went ABOVE AND BEYOND, helping me trouble shoot, find a reputable garage, and HE called to apprise the garage owner about the case. I have no words!!! I have such respect and gratitude for John's kind, professional, honest, straightforward help!!!! This took time and effort away from his busy day with quite a few different interactions; not only calls with me but researching garages in the area I was in in Massachusetts, but also actually calling and talking with the owner of the garage I ended up taking my car for the service needed. The net result of the repair saved me HUNDREDS of dollars (over a thousand) and a car that's safe to drive back to Pennsylvania in a few weeks! I would give John and John HAUSER'S garage a HUNDRED Yelp stars if I could!!! I had two coupons, which only one could be used. They took the one coupon that was the cheaper of the two to discount. So they saved me $10 instead of $30, shisty!!! I had been coming here the past 5 or so years to finally find out they have been price gouging me for all these years. I have a car inspection due in a couple months. Guess what??? The gas operation is separate from the service station. Over time the gas side has changed hands but these excellent mechanics have REMAINED THE SAME GREAT PEOPLE SINCE 1973! If you are like most folks, there is always some unpleasant pressure when you bring your car to a service station. How much is it going to cost? Will I get it back on time? Will I be pressured to buy unnecessary stuff? There is a reason why I've been using these folks for 18 years! My car is always ready ON TIME. Of course I'm going to pay $$ but I always feel the price is FAIR. I'm never pressured to purchase UNNECESSARY SERVICES. GAC is the best mechanic to visit in the Upper Darby and Philadelphia area!…read more I love coming here because they have a VID (Very important driver) program where you pay monthly and can partake in multiple vehicle care products such as oil changes, inspections, and alignments versus paying for it all at once which helps save on the value of car maintenance. It also includes tire care if you run over a nail or need a patch. The she-chanics at GAC are also very kind and caring, explaining how each step of the process works in a way that is not intimidating or 'man-splaining' which I have experienced across my lifetime at other mechanics. There is a salon where you can get your nails done while you wait, sitting areas with WiFi, and a general comfortable feel to the space when you need to stay and wait for your vehicle to be done. I trust GAC as my Primary Care Technician location to take my car and know they will help me keep her for the long haul.

They only have one mechanic, who by the way looked exhausted when I dropped off the car in the morning and had a day's work ahead of him. I made an appointment for 10 am on a weekday for my inspection/oil change (I purchased my own synthetic oil to save money), but didn't get my car back until 5:30 pm after I showed up and told them I needed the car. They've got signs that say they give estimations for time but it's not a guarantee, and I'd say the same seems to apply for their pricing. When I called to schedule the appointment whoever answered the phone did not seem very knowledgeable about their prices, and even the day of my service when I spoke to someone on the phone towards the end of the day it still didn't seem clear how much everything would come out to be...well I was shocked to find that they charged me $25 for the oil filter and $32 for the emissions sticker required by the state even though they didn't even do the service itself because we're exempt from driving less than 5000 miles in the past year. I know things cost more nowadays due to inflation, but I think they need more staff, to be transparent about their pricing for standard services like what I had done, and to have better communication. I'm still thinking about that poor mechanic who's overworked here and I think I will look for other options before I come back here for even these simple jobs.
