Gwen and Denise were super friendly through all the stress of planning and very accomodating with the changes we had to make. We were allowed to cancel a large tent two days before the event when it appeared that the weather would hold up. The workers showed up promptly that morning and busted 'okole setting everything up just as we asked. Then they showed up promptly at the end of the night, busting 'okole again to take everything away. The whole time, they were pleasant and respectful. Accel will be at the top of our list should we need event services in the future.

And so, I decided on throwing my baby's party at Bishop Museum's great lawn. With that said, I needed to find a tent company that could supply tables, chairs, and lighting for that amount of guests. Hawaii Tents & Events happened to be the best option especially for the price paid. Other tent companies I researched would have charged easily over $5,000 (without tax) and one company even quoted me close to $10,000. With Hawaii Tents & Events, I did pay a little under $5,000. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The tents, tables and chairs weren't in the best condition but they weren't bad looking either. I did knock off a star because my communication with Tracey (Director of Sales & Marketing), though not the worst, was also not the greatest. Over the phone, she seemed really nice. It was just, at times, it was hard to get a hold of her. I didn't get responses as quick as I would have liked, especially when it came down to figuring out the layout of everything. A lot of my other vendors were dependent on the final layout and some decisions throughout my party planning had to be held off longer than I would have wanted. The mediocre communication, however, would not keep me from booking with them in the future. Their prices really cannot be beat!

She suggested that if it's in my budget, to consider colored tablecloths instead. This was a great idea since Café Julia just purchased new gold chivari chairs that would've been a shame to cover up. Even though I was sold on the idea of tablecloths, I wasn't sure of what color to rent. I already had my centerpiece set, so I described it to her via email (I didn't even have a sample made yet). She suggested a royal blue tablecloth. I trusted her decision and once I started assembling my centerpieces, I got so excited imagining how the tablecloths would look with my centerpieces. Once I saw how great the blue and silver tablecloths looked, I knew Sharee was an expert at suggesting color schemes! She also suggested that I do a silver sequin tablecloth for our head table and a matching one for the cake table. The head table had a scalloped design, which just made it a great focal point. I was lucky enough to see her work firsthand at The Wedding Café's Floral and Décor workshop. Sharee and her husband Ed set up an amazing backdrop using metal piping and sheer material for the draping. Once I saw it, I knew I had to have that for a backdrop for pictures with our guests. She also is such an expert, especially with the backdrop assembly. I purchased LED string lights in the shape of butterflies and wanted that to hang vertically from her backdrop. I explained to her how many strings I had and the length of each string. On the days leading up to the wedding, she assured me that she would take care of it and that it would all work out. This was a huge relief since I hadn't tried out the string lights to see how it would look. The lights looked amazing against the backdrop! She and her husband set it up for us and it made for awesome pictures. Sharee is amazing and so down to earth. I really enjoyed talking to her and loved how her tablecloths and backdrop really transformed the hall into a lovely place for our wedding reception.

The only thing was we had to wait weeks for her to respond. She would apologize and say she was busy and would get back to me in a few days, but days would come to weeks. I'm a pretty patient person, but waiting weeks for a quote was a turn off and decided to go elsewhere. Keep in mind she works on her own and her inventory is pretty limited. The great thing is their inexpensive, I just hope Shari has hired an assistant to help with the workload.

My BF & I were at the Black Ties & Blue Jeans fundraiser for the American Heart Association when we came across their booth. As we were at a charity event they were charging $10 per flipbook. The line was insane so we stealthily waited until the middle of dinner to run back to the booth and get our flipbook made! See how you make everyone cray cray flipbooks! We picked out our random accessories from the props table and filmed seven seconds of video in front of a screen. It was awkward to the say the least because we had to make sure we didn't go out of the screen boundaries! I was completely amazed at how quickly they printed, cut and bound the flipbook. Dang, you cray cray flipbooks! I love my two flipbooks and it's a great way to capture the memory of a fabulous night at Black Ties & Blue Jeans! Not sure how much it costs if you rent it for your wedding, baby party, etc but it's definitely going to be a party favor your guests will hold onto. Why? Because you cray cray flipbooks!

I booked Flipbooks for my wedding last Saturday (7.5.14), and from the very start, they were incredible. I worked primarily with co-owner, Erica Martin. She is the sweetest lady in the world, completely professional, and so gracious and kind. Most of our correspondence was done over email, since I reside in California. Erica was very prompt with calling and emailing the entire time. She was always available and sooooo friendly every time we spoke. Eveyone raved about the Flipbook booth at the wedding. The final product is so much more interactive than doing just a regular photo booth. The guests had an absolute blast. I would definitely recommend this company for any event you have in mind :)

His extensive knowledge in the event planning space made the whole process less stressful for me and my team. While customer service is always great, no one forgets the bottom line, and Hawaii Special Events offered very affordable pricing, and he allowed us to make changes throughout the planning process, even on the day of! He kept me in contact with all of his contractors, making sure everyone was on the same page. On the day of, the set up crew was great to work with, and they really turned it into a stunning venue for our 500+ audience members! I don't know what time they arrived, but at 5:50pm, the seat covers and bows were still being put on. My family had to help out and my husband had to ask to have the walllights turned on. It wasn't their fault, but the vendor setup one less table than they were supposed to, and we weren't even offered any money back in return. We definitely did not give tip, considering they did not hold up to their timing agreement, my family had to help, and that's just something you don't want to have to worry about the day of your reception.
