Appears to be closed and gone. It's a bummer because I bought a gift certificate for someone and not sure it can be used now.

    Aristide - Flower Mound

We chose the vendor package, which included the in-house photographer, and DJ among other things. While the convenience was appealing, several issues occurred throughout the day. To start, our centerpieces only covered 8 of the 10 tables. This may have been an oversight on my part, so I'm not placing blame on the venue for that. The ceremony itself was beautiful, but there was an issue with the music for my entrance. I chose the same song for both my bridesmaids and myself because there was a specific part of the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to. I had previously asked the wedding planner if the music could be looped if timing ran long, and she assured me it could. However, while waiting in the bridal suite with my dad, I heard the part of the song I was supposed to walk into come and go. I was later told that my niece and nephews took longer walking down the aisle. I completely understand that kids will be kids, but this was something we had discussed beforehand to prevent exactly this situation. Our photographer did a good job overall, though we are still waiting on the final photos. However, he forgot about the "first touch" moment I had planned with my husband until one of my bridesmaids reminded him. At the reception, there were multiple issues with the DJ. He switched the entrance songs for my husband, myself, and the bridal party. We used the provided app to carefully create our playlist, but it seemed like it was not followed closely. He also did not fade out the songs for our first dance or for my father-daughter dance as requested. Once open dancing started, he began playing songs that were not on our playlist and that many of our guests did not recognize. Overall, he seemed unprepared. As for the wedding planner, she was helpful during the planning process but did not seem organized on the actual wedding day. We had arranged for a coffee cart during cocktail hour. When the barista finished for the evening, he prepared a bag with coffee items for my husband and me for the next day and said he would give it to the wedding planner. However, the wedding planner left once dancing began. When we were leaving, we remembered the coffee and asked my mom to retrieve it, but she couldn't find the coordinator to ask about it. If one or two small things had gone wrong, it would have been easier to overlook. But the number of mistakes throughout the day left a very disappointing impression for both my husband and me. If you are looking strictly for a beautiful venue, Aristide is stunning. However, based on our experience, I would not recommend purchasing the vendor package, as we did not feel that our plans were executed with the attention to detail we expected.

It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. The rest of the park is BEAUTIFUL and well landscaped. I'm not sure what they use that massive pavilion for, but honestly I think it makes a case for a good wedding venue! If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list.

Lots of detailed meetings to go over everything. Day of is where the problems came up. We arrived on time and the place was a disaster. It looked like their was a wedding the night before, there was not. In the grooms sweet there was a spilled drink all over the floor, just left there. There were multiple silverware, plates, and cushions that were dirty. Bathrooms were so gross, toilets not flushed, and a mess everywhere. They had only one staff member on duty until 2/3pm so she was left to do everything herself. So the hours we added on for a relaxing morning, it was helping clean, vacuum, mop, wipe down, throw trash away, switch chairs and cushions out, dust, etc. During the wedding the caterers ran out of food!! Multiple tables did not have a protein and we had the right number show up. Our guests were served warm beer and wine because they didn't out enough in the fridge, our speciality bar we paid extra for was non existent, and they ran out of certain alcohols for our open bar. The only reason they are getting two stars is because they had one employee that did whatever she could to make it right, all with a smile on her face and our guests seem to have a great time aside from the disaster that occurred. Hopefully this will be the last time something like this happens, but sadly I have heard this happen multiple times here.

Temp adjustments to the venue? No prob. Rearrange this or that last-minute. No prob. Coordinate with caterer? Easy. We went back and forth leading up to the event, working out details, and it all came together perfectly. I would definitely recommend Royal Affairs Ballroom and will keep them on my short list of venues. Spacious, classy, versatile, good AV equipment, great staff... It was a great experience! We've had 2 weddings at this location and David and his staff were beyond stellar. From our first meetings, until the night of the event, David and the staff stayed in contact with us. We really never had to worry about anything. If we asked David for something special - example, daughter loves Dr. Pepper - it was there. I wish I had taken a picture of the Dr. Pepper bottles on the bar. Still makes me smile when I think about it. Our last wedding was on December 14, 2024. I was nervous about this time frame due to private parties and other weddings. With this date, and other special events happening at Royal Affairs, I was concerned with setup time as I, mother of the bride, was the setup team. David worked with the schedule of other parties, as well as our availability, and made it possible for us to setup before the wedding rehearsal. We got the much-needed rehearsal, and my daughter got a first look at the decorated venue. She was very VERY happy. The day of the event, everything was perfect when we walked in. We were able to get into the Ballroom early for dressing, pictures, etc. Timing was never an issue as, we spoke with David beforehand and he made everything come together for us. Both of our weddings were beyond special and we have David and the Royal Affairs Ballroom to thank. I HIGHLY recommend them. Thank you, David and Royal Affairs. The staff of this hotel are great. Everyone I came into contact with were kind and helpful. Chante at the front desk is a literal angel. She was so sweet and kind. Treated us with such kindness upon check in and the entire time we were there. Cut to Friday (we checked in Tuesday afternoon), and I got a call from the general Manager, Aaron Oquendo (found your last name Aaron, you weren't getting off that easy). My dogs, who have been abruptly moved from their home with a yard and 2400 sq ft of space to a 400 sq ft space on the 3rd floor) barked when I would leave to take my kids to school and pick them up (20 minutes away). He proceeded to berate me on the phone, called it a "major situation" because a couple of guests complained (rightfully so) and told me I was "costing the hotel money" and told me we had to leave. Which, funny enough, we had TWO ROOMS booked for TWO WEEKS, so who cost who money? Anyway, after he informed me we were being kicked out he proceeded to lecture me and compare my situation to his flood situation from 2020 and he got bark collars and his dogs "never barked." It was the most unprofessional and rude conversation I've ever had in my life. I explained to him the situation and he couldn't have cared less. I completely understand that dogs barking can be very annoying. I work from home so I was there all day, and all night, and they did not bark consistently. Any time they did bark it was addressed immediately. He tried to argue with me that they barked during the day, to which I had to reiterate I worked from home and I was in the room with them all day, expect to get my kids. I ended up hanging up on him because he was so rude to me. When I saw him in the lobby and confronted him he was still evasive and dismissive. I asked for his last name and he said "we don't give out that information." Funny, because there were 4 business cards readily available for the Asst GM and 3 others, but yeah they don't give out that info. Got it. He told me "offered for me to stay" but no, he didn't. He said this to save face from the other guests in the lobby. Chante called me to smooth things over and said they didn't want me to leave, we just had to come to a solution which I was happy to do, however, there was zero chance I was staying somewhere where the General Manager treats the guests so poorly. I didn't feel comfortable staying there anymore. There were about 1000 different ways he could have approached the situation but he chose the worst possible way. We checked out that same afternoon and were forced to go back to our house that's unlivable until we found alternative accommodations (forcing us to move for the 3rd time in 5 days). I work in customer service for a living and I would never EVER speak to someone the way he spoke to me. Especially knowing the traumatic situation they were in. He shouldn't be in the position that he's in if this is the way he treats people. The moment I saw him that first day I felt in my gut he was an icky person, and turns out my gut instinct was right. He made me feel so small and humiliated. Aaron, a little grace, kindness and empathy go a long way. I would have gladly worked with you to find a way to help because I understand that other guests were unhappy. I don't let my dogs bark at my own home because it's annoying, so I can appreciate that the other guests were annoyed. The ONLY reason I would recommend this hotel is for Chante because she was an earth angel and truly cared about the experience and had empathy towards myself and my family. Give that woman a raise.

This sprawling estate is able to accommodate lots of guests (vehicles included) for all different types of functions. Everything about the property is ostentatiously southern, which might seem kitschy to non Texans, but for locals it just feels comfortable and familiar. Since I was there for a banquet, the first thing I have to talk about is the food. It seemed only appropriate that barbecue was on the menu with things like brisket, smoked sausage and baked beans, all served buffet style. While it was respectable enough, the quality was closer to Dickey's or Spring Creek than more authentic Texas barbecue. I thought the bread pudding they had for dessert was a good choice since I don't see that very often, plus it was very tasty. This place also has several built in bars because at social events people need their adult libations! There were only a handful of options available, but frozen margaritas was one of them, so that totally made up for the small selection. In addition to special events and private parties they also host market days open to the public. For that they have local vendors selling their goods along with other family friendly activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo and rodeo. Although I haven't been before, I'm inspired to go now after seeing how well they handled the event that we did attend.
