Absolutely AMAZING experience!! Ray is very quick to respond when communicating. From start to finish it was such an easy, laid back experience. Ray is extremely knowledgeable- he knows the area and its wind patterns very well. It's an easy process to get flying, and a very gentle landing. In between the two- just relax and enjoy the scenery, and listen to Ray as he tells you all about things you see on your flight. Oh, and he has some pretty funny jokes too ha ha. Ok this was such an amazing experience! Seriously, anyone who has the opportunity to go fly with Ray totally should. If you want to go up with an experienced instructor and have a once in a lifetime flight over the Pacific Ocean, he's the one to call. First off, he'll let you know that safety is the most important thing and gives very detailed instructions. He also has a GoPro set up so you will have as much cool footage as your heart desires. I will say I have somewhat a fear of heights and I had no problem during flight. It was really chill and serene being up so high, gliding over the coast. You might see some sharks or whales but you'll definitely see turtles and dolphins! So like I said, if you're on Oahu and have the opportunity to do this give Ray a call and set up a flight. For starters, I just want to say that my pilot/trainer Raimar was amazing. Very cool, calm, and collected which helped me with taking on this intense fear of flying. He made me feel at ease. He was very informative and very professional. Top notch!!! Taking off was a breeze and once we got up flying all my fears went away. The entire ride was surreal. We climbed to about 1500 feet and just glided like an iwa bird. The view was amazing and I was at peace during the whole ride. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Greeting from LA/Berlin. Had the pleasure to fly with Rai January 1, 2016, and what a great expedience it was. I was his first flight of the year, and apparently the conditions were extra great. We went up high (2500 ft) and covered lots of distance. Wow...the views. No better way to see the island. The flight was very smooth and I felt safe at all times. Rai does a great job explaining what to do and what is happening at all times. You even learn about the winds that are involved in keeping you in the air. I was also able to use my own action cam, which allowed me to take stunning footage (when I finish the movie, I will add it here). I can only recommend the experience. I was even able to steer the wing myself for a little bit. After Rai checked if I am okay with it, we did some sharp turns at the end of flight which really made you feel the g-forces. amazing! oh...and did I mention that the views were incredible. If you consider paragliding, look no further. Rai is your man. I will be back for sure. If you are lucky...other pilots hang out in the landing area after they are done flying and you can chat and have a beer with them after you land and watch others come in from their flights. Wow! Rai is da man! Glad we did this with Rai because his experience and knowledge of paragliding is definitely noticeable after the first couple minutes he starts talking about it. My wife and I did this on Tuesday July 1st 2014 and everything was beyond perfect; the views, the wind, the take off, and the landing. I was actually able to go up above 2000 feet and when we came down it was so intense....the G's were insane!!!!! My experience was phenomenal! On top of Rays knowledgeable skills he is a great person to talk to and can calm ur nerves down. On the day of our flight the weather wasn't that good with some showers here and there but he was patient and waited for the right time to fly. I booked with Ray Ray the Brazilian pilot, he was calm cool and collected. Ray explained everything very clearly, I wasn't in the least bit worried only excited to get up there. The whole experience was far more simple and calm then I had expected it to be. Once we were flying he showed me how we were maneuvering. This was my first paragliding experience and it was a fantastic birthday gift. I went with Ray as he is passionate about paragliding, prioritizes safety, is knowledgeable about weather currents and conditions, and is an easy going and genuine person. I appreciated his clear instructions about take off and landing (both incredibly smooth, we launch from a hill near Sea Life Park and the air currents lift you up so no scary take offs) and learned through his demonstration while in flight on how to control and direct the kite. We soared 2000 feet above the majestic sheer cliffs of the Koolau Mountains overlooking the rugged Makapuu coastline, passed over outer islands - phenomenal views. The whole flight including take off and landing seemed so effortless, and while in the air it was peaceful and beautiful while we soared through the air like the Hawaiian seabird that flew alongside us. Now my husband and children (ages 3 - 9 years), who witnessed my flight, all want to go paragliding for their birthday, too. My 82 year old father is also interested. Ray has a young child himself and has a small size harness to take small passengers. As a parting gift Ray gave me a microchip of pictures taken of me during the flight.
