Haven't been here in a long time! A friend of mine came to visit from out of town and wanted to try it. Took him and tasted his meal and it reminded me how good this place was. So naturally I had to go back the next two days in a row to get more first time I got the new Kilauea chicken with the Honolulu chicken and double rice. Second time I had to run the Kilauea chicken back with the Luau pig, double rice again. I'm not a huge fan of the macaroni salad so I never get it but I will say it's not bad, just not for me. I do wish they had a few more options other than just chicken and pork but I'm glad they have some different flavor profiles for the chicken! This restaurant is very laid-back; you place your order on a kiosk, and a worker will bring your food to your table once it's ready. They will also bring you utensils and a selection of sauce packets (e.g. sriracha, teriyaki, BBQ), and that's pretty much all the service we received. We visited on Veterans Day because they were giving a free lunch to veterans to thank them for their service, which we appreciated. The cashier who helped us was super sweet and the food came out in a flash! The decor is, of course, Hawaiian with a surf vibe. It was clean. Vibe is casual and would be family-friendly. This has become one of our favorite places for quick food because I have Celiac Disease (gluten allergy) and my boyfriend has wheat and dairy allergies. At the time of writing this, the only food items containing gluten are the macaroni salad and their noodles. We had a chicken lunch entree and pork lunch entree with veggies and rice. That was a $1 upcharge for completely unseasoned, rather mushy vegetables. The chicken comes atop rice, with a side of rice. I wasn't getting heat off of the chicken I was getting SUGAR. It was SO sweet. It also came with a little cup of teriyaki sauce? Was that for the veg? I have no idea. I was not impressed. I later looked up the nutritional information and the classic Kilauea chicken has nearly twice as much sodium as one should get in a day and FORTY FIVE grams of sugar. Forty five! On a whim, we decided to try Hawaiian Bros, and boy were we pleasantly surprised! TLDR: Amazing service and great food! A must try! We ordered through the app for curbside pickup. They even have a rewards program where you can earn points for free food and other discounts. When I first signed up for the rewards program, it said I earned a free Dole Whip, but the reward wasn't available to add to my order. Maybe it was a technical issue or I may need to wait a little longer after signing up for an account to use it, either way, it gives me another excuse to come back. :) In order to taste as much of the menu, we ordered: Honolulu Chicken Plate with added Mixed Vegetables: this is the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Mixed Plate with Molokai Chicken and Kilauea Chicken: chicken is flavorful, but could use a little more heat in the spice. Mixed Plate with Huli Huli Chicken and Luau Pork: can't go wrong with the classic meats. The chicken is tender and the pork had a perfect hint of smoke. Of course, we couldn't forget a few orders of the spam musubi! Everything tasted great, but I wish they offered ramen slaw as a side. That would have taken the entire meal over the top! It has been a few months since my last visit to this chain. Although it is my first visit to this location, I assume the changes are across all locations. Before accepting payment, the kiosk requested my name which I considered odd as I had checked in using the QR code on the app. The forks are now partially wrapped but not the knives, probably due to the low usage. Rather than picking up my order at the counter, one of the employees served it. When the employee forgot my Passion Sun canned drink, she said she would get it. Unfortunately, that was the last time I saw her in the dining area. As I about to grab an employee's attention, the shift leader/manager was checking on another table. Once she was done, I got her attention and told her I was waiting for my drink. She began giving me a geography lesson on the locations of the fountain drinks and canned drinks. As the lesson did not explain why I was without my drink, I let her know that the server said she would be back with my drink. When she returned with my drink, she said she will make sure to do right and left. Like the other employee, that was the last time I saw her. Let's start with recognizing how cute this location is. The decor is bright and refreshing, super clean establishment. The staff goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. We were not rushed to order, were given suggestions and an enormous amount of patience. The food is as good as it looks if not even better. I'm always down for a place that offers spam musubi! As always, it was great. The huli huli (teriyaki) chicken was very good and I loved the veggies with it. The rice was great and, at my own fault, didn't realize it was macaroni salad and was very confused with my first cold bite. After that realization sunk in, it was very good too! The employees were very helpful and offered to assist with the digital menu for ordering, but after a bit of trial and error I figured it out. I had been craving Hawaiian food for a while. It's been almost three months since our Hawaii honeymoon and I needed my food fix! I think I had been to another Hawaiian Bros location but I can't remember. My husband had grabbed lunch from this location one day and said it was pretty close to what we got during our honeymoon. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday night evening. It kinda of reminded me of a fast food chain. There was an employee to greet us when we entered and showed us how to order our food using their kiosks. I ordered the Luau pork with white rice and macaroni salad, regular size. My husband got the Huli Huli chicken and the Molokai chicken with white rice, macaroni salad, and pineapple. We each got a spam musubi. The Luau pork was soooo good! Very flavorful and juicy. It was on top of white rice which helped balance out the saltiness of the pork, however, it wasn't too salty. The macaroni salad was tasty as well. A little too peppery for my liking but still good. The spam musubi was really good as well. I hadn't had spam in years until I had musubi in Hawaii and I hate to say it but I don't hate it. We got the dole soft serve for dessert and I'm so glad we shared it because it was a very generous portion. I wasn't too crazy about the soft serve, only because we had the real dole whip in Hawaii and it was out of this world!
