    Led Zepheadz tribute band MAY2026
    Franklin M.

We went on Friday to this dinner concert to see the Led Zeppelin cover band Led Zepheadz. You have to order a meal which includes a table next to the band. We ordered the taco plate which was the least expensive meal, no BBQ on this dinner menu. The band played on time as scheduled at 7pm sharp. They offer beer on tap and other mixed drinks at an additional cost. The venue was perfect and we really enjoyed the evening listening to some great music. If you don't want to pay for a meal just sit at the bar from a distance and you can still watch the show.

I ordered Brisket Sliders, Cowboy Meatballs, and an Esquite The Brisket Sliders came out hot and quick, I know it was on the happy hour menu, but just another slice or two of meat would've made me love it. Overall it was good, but not worth the price for the amount of meat you get. The Esquite was okay, nothing really special about it. I wish it came on a cob rather than a bowl. I didn't really taste much of the seasoning on the corn which is unfortunate, it could definitely use more of everything. That being said, the corn was crunchy and not soggy which is a plus. Overall I wouldn't recommend this unless you really want corn for some reason, it's pretty basic. The Cowboy Meatballs were good for a bbq place, if you're sharing between two people I would recommend this. They are a good size with a good amount of sauce and flavor. The garlic knot in between was very good as well. Overall it was a good plate, just on the pricey side for frozen meatballs but you're in old town so that's to be expected, I'd order this again. I was the only one in the entire restaurant when I came so take my note for service and ambiance with a grain of salt. I also ordered not really bbq specialty items, so when I return I will order that and hopefully give a better review/score. The ambiance is clean with good music and sports on the TVs, the staff was attentive and friendly. Food came out pretty quick.

    Quesadillas with Chicken

Was here for a private event and the place was packed, so I don't really know how it is on normal days... Although friendly, I wasn't truly impressed with the service and the food was just ok, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. One of my friends said the wings weren't that great and he didn't like the greens. But my other friend liked the greens. I can't comment. The chicken quesadillas, however, I did have and there was minimal chicken in them, but they came out hot and I was appreciative of that. Because I was here for an event and I'm from out of town I probably wouldn't be back but based on some of the other reviews, it doesn't seem that I'm too far off..

I'm not really one to write a bad review, but this place has gone downhill. The only thing that wasn't terrible this trip was the service... friendly, quick and responsive. Onto the food. Not only did they increase their prices, they also cut their food portions. They did not put a lot of care into their selection or preparation of the meat. The meat was so fatty, terribly under seasoned, and extremely dry. This establishment used to put a lot of love into their food, but sadly now, it's just another BBQ place that you go to as a last resort. We ordered the 2 meat BBQ Combo Plate and Brisket Plate. Each plate came with two sides. Brisket 5/10 - Way too fatty and under seasoned... but sadly, this was the best item with some BBQ sauce. It was the most edible out of everything we ordered. Chicken 1/10 - Dry, dry and dry. Pulled Pork 3/10 - Poorly seasoned, lean and dry (not as dry as the chicken though). Mac and Cheese 4/10 - Edible. Tasted like Kraft's Mac and Cheese. Regular Fries 2/10 - Stale and soggy. I didn't try the other two sides, BBQ Beans and Sweet Potato fries. 2 Stars for the Service and 1 Star for the ambiance.

No one is talking about how good their brunch menu is! The brisket hash was 10/10, mimosas are inexpensive, and the vibes are elite - it's like having a day club to yourself.

We went for the live music last night and loved the food and the beyond excellent service from Cameron. Pleased that they offer vegan tacos, (vegetable, jack fruit or butternut squash) as well as wonderful Barbecue choices. Very accommodating to special requests. Cameron must have filled our water glasses dozens of times ...they were never empty! They have amazing happy hour food and drink choices. We had the nachos with added jack fruit. Go and support this local business and live music...you won't be disappointed.

BBQ sausage, fries, and baked beans

Food presentation was good but very lack later in taste. I got the sausage which tasted like hamburger in a sausage skin. BBQ sauce was good fries were good BBQ beans were meh. The strangest thing is for a barbecue/bar they were playing rap music made no sense to me

    Mac & Brisket Burrito

Went here on Sunday after walking around Pasadena on a sunny day and came here to eat and try it out. Was very impressed with their Mac & brisket burrito and it was really delicious! The tortilla was nice and toasty, mac & cheese was baked to perfection and the brisket was so tender and juicy! Would definitely come back here again and try other bbq dishes.

This was actually our second attempt, the first time we showed up on a Saturday afternoon they were closed, despite their online hours saying otherwise. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back. Service was okay. The food? Disappointing. The shrimp cocktail was the whole reason we made the trip. It tasted watered down, had no seasoning, no lemon, and still had shell on the shrimp. It genuinely tasted like a pre-made Costco cocktail in red dyed water. The fajita plate (shrimp, beef, and chicken) was passable but nothing special. What really ended it for us were the hidden fees. We ordered the fajita plate $30 (+ taxes) a massive spread with a separate plate of rice and beans and they brought out THREE corn tortillas. THREE... I am Mexican. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime and have never been given only three tortillas for a plate that size. We asked for more tortillas and were charged $4 with zero warning. It's not about the money it's the principle. The charge was never disclosed. When I brought it up with the owner, Lupita, she was dismissive and couldn't explain the reasoning it's not even homemade tortillas. You can literally buy 90 tortillas for $4 at a grocery store! She took off one of the charges but kept the other $2. Meanwhile, they offer unlimited chips and complimentary salsa without blinking. The inconsistency is baffling. We genuinely wanted to support this family-run restaurant we loved seeing the family come in together. But the disrespect during that conversation made it impossible to leave on good terms. Do yourself a favor and drive about a 1.5 miles down the street to El Metate. Their large shrimp cocktail is $15, is so flavorful, and the staff treats you like family. Their pozole is outstanding too. We found them on our first failed attempt to come here and we'll be going back to them exclusively from now on. We will never return to Lupita's and made it clear to not go there in our community thread with 15K people. Unless you like hidden fees and mediocre tasteless overpriced food then this is your place otherwise...don't come here.

Parking is in parking structures throughout this area but watch out for the one way streets. They do not validate. Parking is cheap though. Started off with the calamari, oysters aguachile and guacamole. Calamari - My favorite of the appetizers. Very lightly breaded. Not overcooked. Small but shareable amount. The red bell pepper sauce dressed underneath is deep in flavor. This was a solid dish. Guacamole - Now being a guac connoisseur I found this guac pleasant. Creamy, a little limey, good flavors. Topped with cotija and I'm pretty sure cotija was present within the guac mix itself. Nice touch. Could have used a little heat tho. Plantains ehhhh were okay. Even though the tostadas were thinner I preferred those over the plantains. Oysters Aguachile - Aight. Fresh. Aguachile mix on top could have had some heat and more true aguachile notes like cilantro, onion. But still fresh and a nice appetizer. Arrachera (skirt steak) - Delicious. Definitely a big plate. I opted for veggie mix instead of the rice to go for more low carb. Very good. The steak was cooked perfectly. Well seasoned. Spring mix was a nice touch to have something lighter. Service was very prompt and friendly. I forgot our waitresses name but she was very nice. Definitely will be back. One thing about the dishes overall is that they did stay in their lane. I didnt find them exploring too much like differences or going in a certain way. Everything was executed perfectly and what you would expect. I sampled the birria and mole enchiladas. Those made me feel like yeah this is the way they should be made. And Im only a fan of specific moles.

Most people would point to its outstanding tacos, built on pillowy, made-from-scratch flour tortillas and comforting Austin-style Tex-Mex fillings. HomeState emphasizes slow-cooked meats, warm hospitality, and the welcoming food culture that Texas is known for. They are also well known for their perfectly seasoned eggs, making their breakfast tacos especially popular. I ordered two of their Anytime (Daytime) Tacos: the Picadillo (grass-fed ground beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage slaw, and pickled jalapeños) and the Chicken (organic achiote-marinated chicken, cabbage slaw, and guacamole). The achiote-marinated chicken was exceptionally tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The achiote gave the meat its signature deep-orange hue and subtle earthy flavor, while the generous portions of creamy guacamole and crisp cabbage slaw added freshness and a satisfying crunch. The Picadillo taco was equally impressive. The combination of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, sweet carrots, crunchy cabbage slaw, and tangy pickled jalapeños created a delicious balance of flavors and textures. A few generous dabs of HomeState's housemade hot sauces elevated it even further. The seasoned beef paired with the red salsa reminded me of a Taco Bell Burrito Supreme--but made with fresher, higher-quality ingredients, more texture, and a welcome kick from the jalapeños, all without the sour cream. These tacos do not hold together for very long, but that is largely because the fillings are so juicy and generously portioned. It was a trade-off I was more than willing to accept. The undisputed star of the meal, however, was the fresh flour tortillas. They lived up to every expectation--pillowy soft, perfectly thick, buttery, and incredibly fresh. They were not just a vessel for the fillings; they were the defining element of the entire meal and easily the highlight of my visit. To wash everything down, I ordered the hibiscus limeade. The refreshing blend of steeped hibiscus, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup struck a perfect balance between tart and sweet, making it an ideal companion to the rich tacos. Traditional LA street tacos will always define the city's taco culture, but HomeState has carved out its own loyal following by embracing something entirely different. When you are craving Austin-style Tex-Mex and some of the freshest, fluffiest flour tortillas you will find anywhere in Los Angeles, HomeState absolutely delivers. 4.5 stars
